The young Richard Jobson looks like legendary 'The Who' frontman Roger Daltrey in his prime, except for the fact that he's a lot taller. R.I.P the sorely missed Stuart Adamson.
I'm with you here, his dancing is unbelievable! In a good way, of course, so effortless and so distinctive, I'd happily spend an hour watching him dance. Always a big bonus point of their TV appearances. In fact I'm stunned some people see it as something other than awesome.
I moved from California to England in October of 1979. Boy did I catch the lyrics to this song from classmates in Secondary school when it came out! I laughed it off, though. 😄
You can’t blame any other single band for the level of success of Skids. It’s the record buying, gig-going public who make their choice. Remember Joe Dolce? Contrast with bands like The Members or The Police both had TOTP hits and in a business sense they’re all in competition. The Skids still energise an audience with their current line-up and obviously the absence of Stuart is sincerely heartfelt from both the band and fans alike.
Aye, if your luck enough the hay a joab wi a fuckin agency in a fuckin warehoose fur 6 weeks at chrimbo, next te Poles in Romanians who'll no even fuckin look at ye. Shite eh?
That’s Mike Baillie taking the drumseat over after Rusty’s farewell TV performance on OGWT. The BBC studio metallic chequered drum set been given a workout and the silencer pads not up to the job. Typically the size of a beer tray spill-mat, they’d try and curb the sound level but not the drummer’s nerves or enthusiasm to hit them, hard! Of course it was dubbed, so only the studio audience and his band mates would get the full blast of such performances.
According to Linda Nolan one of the group spat as they came on to perform after them on TOTP. What a jerk, I liked your track but the Nolans were super talented and are still a great act.
Into the valley dance belter. They were before their time first casual i saw Aberdeen 81 we still skins. They had a new look like Clash each time you saw them and for me under rated band man. Met Jobson on tube in London talked Celtic and Punk he is good guy that was 20 years ago. I spoke to him last week on Twitter. Wonderful band.
JPCP M ~ Yeah, i Love that Song, it’s got early an Techno feel about it . . Great Drum beat & Spacey sounds. I’m surprised that someone hasn’t bothered to Remix it . Maybe they have ? ?
Actually no, "new romantics" were already a thing in 1979, only in underground (and not called "new romantics', in fact they all hated that tag). And guys from The Skids, especially Jobson and Adamson, were pally with them and accepted in The Blitz. Rusty Egan even drummed for them! So nothing surprising, really.
That's me on the drums and Mike Baily took over as I was now in Visage. We released TAR in 1979 and This was the samet ime. Fade to Gre was our 2nd single . Richard was coming to The litz and I was dj there during the recording of this album@@ВладимирКруглов-к9о
@@RustyEgan Thank you very much, Rusty! Let me say, you did a great job with The Skids, your drumming really provided them with rock-solid backbone and the way you incorporated synth percussion in the set-up was nothing short of innovating! Hopefully your contribution will be more widely appreciated in near future!
@@95thFoot I was the one pushing for synths in the studio and if you listen to the album my drums have electrobic triggers .Sorry I was into Kraftwerk .When the tour ended Ali was only there for the tour and he did a good job
Remember this from TOTP 43 years ago. Great song Great band. RIP Stuart Adamson.
RIP Stuart Adamson, a great guitarist.
I was 14 when this came out. Bought the vinyl in gatefold. Never imagined I’d still be listening to this whilst on nights in 2019. Classic.
I was 18

The genius of Stuart Adamson
Me too. Still loving it as a 54 year old man
And Bill Nelson.
I'm a big fan of this guy's dancing style; he was very original; too original to ever have been copied. The best vocalist dancer of that era-easily!
I'm with you here, his dancing is unbelievable! In a good way, of course, so effortless and so distinctive, I'd happily spend an hour watching him dance. Always a big bonus point of their TV appearances. In fact I'm stunned some people see it as something other than awesome.
Jobbo!
It's called "spaz-dancing"
@@Buster_Piles😂 Is it actually a thing?
@@angelariley.9963 err ... no, I was being a shade sarcastic about his dancing style. 🤗
This was a great performance by the band, the Skids at their peak.
I moved from California to England in October of 1979. Boy did I catch the lyrics to this song from classmates in Secondary school when it came out! I laughed it off, though. 😄
First ever single I bought aged 8 or 9. I love it.
Brilliant song from the 70s era.
Ive been working for the yankee $$ since 1997 in Washington DC as a UK 🇬🇧 ex pat 🤣🤣
My favourite song of all time - Absolutely Marvellous!
The wonderful Stuart Adamson
"That's what I want to look like when I grow up", said a young Mark Hughes watching Richard Jobson in this performance.
Richard jobson great singer and front man plus the Skids damn good band.
I can just about remember buying this single, still got it :)
40 bloody years..omg
Saw them last night
STUART!!
Remember that lead singer on Tv programme 0 1 for London
Pure love 1979 I did buy a rs2000 that was new when music was great
Kinda addictive to this lol! All fooling around ..
That's the Brexit dividend.
R.I.P Stuart.
Inolvidable el gran Stuart Adamson.
wonderful song
Big country vibes 😊
Jobson was such a poseur
I like this x
Starting to sound very "Big Country" here.
Brilliant!
Great days. I think Bowie’s fashion was up next. You had to be there to understand.
Don't think Richard Jobson will ever get invited on to "Strictly".........but they did have Anne Widdecombe on there!!!
It’s a travesty that The Skids weren’t huge.....
and the dreadful Boomtown Rats were.
???????

I used to dance that way.
Sergio Alvarado ...I still do. Everyday
Sergio ~ I bet that you can dance in time to the music tho . . . Lol
Brilliant post - many thanks :)
And we still is. Working for the yankee dollar, ye ken?

Jobsons dancing style out of sync is the coolest moves from any frontman
Worth it just to see Stuart NOT playing his YSG !
fab trousers
Superb!
I bet he loves watching videos of his " hair days " nice tracksuit also jobson !
I'm still working for that yankee £
Rather short but great quality.
That's what she said
Brilliant
Skids go New Romantic. Ran to the record store to buy it but never really did it
great
brilliant scottish band then split too big country band
The singer is obviously dancing to a completely different song !

She was sniffing no1 from the Skids spat on her..maybe the sex pistols .stuart and Richard n Co were not that type of band
Maybe he spunked not spat, and was showing his appreciation of the Nolans' beauty (?)
About as 'punk' as the Pet Shop Boys, poncing about on TOTP . . . The only thing this band had going for it was Stuart Adamson's guitar.
Melt ..
Audience might as well not be there song lyrics are ahead of their time
is it me or does jobson look like jeremy Clarkson!!
Jobson hated that song...'a crock of shit' was his summing up of this number, personally I thought it wasnt a bad song.
01 for London
great song, but his dance moves are questionable.
adds to it!

He's said as much in interviews too.
He was a f twat
Who gives a fuck how Richard Jobson danced? Great song
They are good......but they ain't Leo Sayer! Those that know.......know.
Shut up
I know. I went to see them again last night…Brilliant as usual
I work for the yankee dollar and it sucks more than Jobson
Working for the yankee $. That's me.
Magnificent, even if Jobson does one of the worst lip sync performances of all time
;) :) :)
Great Song but the lead singer needs to learn how to dance in time to the music. .
Either that or he was dancing to a different tune. . . Lol
I think that's just the way Richard Jobson was, and thanks for that. He was great.

Thats how he dances to all skids stuff. Saw them 3 weeks ago and he's still a dodgy dancer.
i think there is a "new romantic" look about them which is a year or so before the new romantic movement came out...

Who's on keyboards ?
+Graham Goodall Don't know but it sure isn't Bill Nelson that originally did the keyboard work for the single and album 'Days in Europa'.
Ali Moore. He toured with them before being booted out in early 1980.
The keyboard player
@@richardhills2543 IIRC Jobson and Adamson booted Moore out without consulting Bill Simpson, so, Bill quit, too. Young men do silly things....

Weird seeing Stuart without his Yamaha SG.
I think that's the Hoyer Les Paul that he got from Bill Nelson (Be Bop Deluxe).
Terrible camerawork. Great group.
Bet Jobson worked for the Yankee dollar 💸 when he toured America
