    It would have been nice if you had commented on the field of view for each sensor.

    Thank you Rob, very informative. However, it would be nice if you enable cc button, the subtitle.

    Good day! How long is the maximum distance coverage of ultrasonic sensor? Thank you for your response

    Can you focus sensor on special kind of objects?

    Wondering what would work well for a robot vacuum. It will need two types of sensors, (1) for nearby objects and to detect stairs/drops to (2) not fall off of surfaces. I don't want to do #1 with bumping into objects, as I want to avoid hitting fragile things.

      Probably best to just use some ultrasonic sensors.

    Is there a plug-and-play LCD display and controller package to read the range, as you've obviously made in the video. These are such popular units and i don't have the electronic know-how, just want to read the range

    I need to measure the clearance between two moving cars with sensors that requires a sensor to be installed on the following car. Which sensor will be best suited to me?

    Does the IR sensor have any threat to skin or eye?

    Can these sensors measure millimeter? It only shows cm

    Now we need something to measure distances above 40 meters/yards, which is the limit of the Garmin Lidar (right?)

    • @robreynolds6546
      @robreynolds6546 6 років тому +1

      Yes, that is the best we have to offer right now. There are certainly Lidar units with a greater range, but when you start reading thing like "These units are available at bulk pricing of $12,000", you learn to live with 40 meters for a while :-)

    Those IR sensors don't measure reflection, they use triangulation to determine distance. So, they are not significantly affected by the color of the object. www.sharp-world.com/products/device/lineup/data/pdf/datasheet/gp2y0a21yk_e.pdf

    Good, but the measurement of ultrasonic really depends on surface ( slip, sharp, ...) l

    ultrasonics sucks in humid or hot environment...sound speed varies with temperature

    You failed to cover the most accurate and cheapest distance measurement detection unit on the market; the tape measure. You're welcome.

    Im sorry. But what the point of only saying stuff like: "The range is fair, not great but decent... The cost are low. The powerconsumption is high." This is useless since we dont have any reference. Especially since most people watching this video probably dont know alot about distance sensors... Maybe you can give actual 'SMART' ranges.
