It’s interesting... you realize just how thick of a skin you actually have by seeing the amount of crap others, particularly those with incredible success, have gone through and how they’ve dealt with it. Just knowing the level of crap they’ve had to deal with is reassuring that we can overcome as well and that we are stronger than we think we are.

Networking event for business women. I have noticed the critical self talk creeping in, I am realizing after listening to this video that I need inner thick skin to ward off my limiting self talk. I am going to be brave and create an amazing event and if I have to dodge the tomatoes so be it 🍅

I have fought with my in-laws with this for so many years. Lived together with them for 7years due to some circumstances...and then it was just too much. I started to become depressed and decided that it was time to move on from this 'limited life' they had set up on me.
Now I love my life and will do so many things which I have always wanted to do. Crazy things, creating things, living my dream - that I haven't done for years...
This is the reason I decided I started youtube but my subscribers don't know it yet.. I will do a video one day to share my story so they can learn to live their lives too.
We only live once. So why not live for ourselves.

Ideally every grown adult should get rid of "thin skin". Making a drama out of every uncomfortable thing that happens to you doesn't solve anything, anything at all. It's a reflex we have from the time we were babies and helpless, because then it was a really useful resource, and the only one we had. But in a adult who has all kind of resources, it's not only useless but even detrimental.

My favourite interview of this segment was with David Goggins. As a former solider myself, I find that people are not so receipted with cursing and "telling it like it is". I have always tried so water-down my expressions and thoughts, careful of how the other person may feel. From now on, I will definitely carry on as being much more of myself, as a fast talking, go-getting, shit talking influencer, in the hopes that I can influence people by telling it like it is without directly insulting the people that I seek to help. In the interview with Barbara Walters, Bill Gates was asked what he can say about nasty comments of people. He said that in a highly competitive business like the industry he is in, expect those remarks. I wish you could include that video because he showed great restraint even at a very young age when he replied to that question.

The trials we face and the blessings we receive are the same thing. This is now up on my bathroom mirror to remind myself every day. It's a very stoic idea, and probably even better to see everything that happens as being neutral - it's what you make of a situation that matters, not how you (or others) perceive it in terms of good or bad. I think the key here is, all these people developed from a relatively early age. Thick skin, like any other developed attribute, comes with practice. The defining question is, how much are you willing to practice in order to develop it? That makes it an issue of character strength. There's a reason success is for the few.
