- At an early age, Charice comes to realize that she does not identify as a girl. Nonetheless, she swallows her protests against femininity and performs in singing contests in an effort to please her mother. As she rises to international stardom, Charice’s body dysphoria worsens. It comes to a point wherein she would rather die than continue living a lie. However, her mother continues to reject her true identity. Tired and frustrated, Charice leaves her home and decides to finally pursue her true self.
