Religion in Northern Ireland is following the trend that it has followed in England. Many only identify as religious due to social/political identity.

Religion was never a factor in the six counties. It was only circumstantial that the planters were a different religion than the indigenous people. It was the British media ,like sky, that window dressed it as a sectarian war, which it never was. Some of the most influential nationalist in Ireland were protestant. The main street in Dublin is named after one.
part of why that was done was it's easier to explain to the British people ah one religion hates the other religion then trying to explain to the mainland UK that no these are actually 2 different groups of people they are not all Paddys Edit; because the truth is that's how most of the people in the Mainland see the North

That prophecy is incredibly predictable. Religions always grow and fade, they're cultural. Nothing is intrinsically special about Christianity.
So good to see the growth of Christian churches and how many young people are coming to Christ in Northern Ireland. There is definitely a small revival happening as the old established churches fall away and new Christian (evangelical) churches rise!

I would add the big majority of people in Northern Ireland do believe in God, many simply don't practice their faith or feel that Churches have turned them away / don't cater for modern Christian worship that is uncompromising on the gospel but at least has new modern worship music, is a welcome and comfortable place to gather.

They were never fighting for a United Ireland, only legitimacy to rule, sponsored by a dictatorship.

The vast majority of people walking away from their parents or their own faith has little to do with science. Society in general just wants to move away from the traditional teachings on sex outside of marriage, man and woman, materialism etc. They still don't have a clue if there is or isn't a God they must don't want to live under a strict set of rules.

Religion only ever sprang up because long ago, people couldn’t understand or explain stuff. Now we’ve moved past that. Now science is explaining stuff that previously was put down to “God”, so there’s no need any more for religion. Intelligent people know this.
