This series is incredibly relaxing. When I opened the playlist and saw twenty-something episodes, I did a little fist-pump of celebration. Definitely the best OpenTTD series on UA-cam.
Brilliant series. After watching the tutorials this series really helps me creating great transport networks using trains. It is a matter of borrowing the maximum loan, build a coal power network, pay back the loan and then expanding it and collecting a lot of money. Thanks!
Hey man, enjoying your footage. Just wanted to let you know that you can speed up and lessen the clicks using some hotkeys. From the rail construction gui, just hit S to activate the signals gui. Then R activates removal. Also, when you drag out signals, you can also hold CTRL while dragging and it'll continue 'til it hits a junction or another signal. Might help speed things up and lessen the RSI ;)
City-buidling mechanic is pretty simple: more stuff is going on in the city (deliveries, etc) then the growth rate is higher. When city grows it places either a house or a road tile, so it's a good strategy to do a pre-built road for a city you want to grow.
Argh!!! 26:30, how did you NOT notice the missing tracks at that point?! So frustrating to watch! Glad you finally spotted it. I noticed you missed them when you first built it, then every time you looked at it after that was an excersize in frustration. ;)
Old Video I know, but maybe you'll see this :D. Great video! I'd like to know, why did you place the goods train depot so far from the town? There is no coverage from the train station into the town so only a couple of the houses are going to get goods, resulting in almost no profit right? Perhaps I don't understand how the mechanic works, but ive been placing extra bus and truck depot's inside the towns and linking them to the train station so that the coverage gets amplified, which gets very annoying tbh. Is that un-necessary?
So the catchment area for a station is only for picking up passengers and mail from the houses. You only need a certain amount of houses to qualify for accepting certain products like the goods. As long as a station accepts goods then it will just take all the goods and you will get all the profit. There is no mechanic in the game for the amount of coverage affecting the amount of money you make for dropping things off at a station
I like the way GamerMasterHellish thinks. I would have liked to hear his analysis on the pileup that occurred in this segment (#3). Other questions: why does he place stations 'as far away as possible' from an industry site? I also wish to see his keyboard actions while building. Oh, and also, his terrain is completely flat! In the default generated maps, there are two many hills and bumps which have to be leveled out - is flat terrain a generation option?
Ok here we go... Stations are far away so that I can build other things round them, exits and entrances, it just gives you room to work. Keyboard cam episode... nice idea :). It's not 100% flat you can just turn down the hills options when creating your game.
Hi. Love your OpenTTD videos. One question: It looks like the outermost exit track leading from Brentwood only goes north (away from the factory). What do you do about the livestock and grain trains if they end up on the north track? Do they ever turn around and make it to the factory? (This may have contributed to the jam near the end of the episode)
That's the reason why he ended up with a lot of train unnecessarily going up the line... And yes, it's 2020 and the world is f*cked up so I watch and play open TTD staying indoors...
First at all, thanks for teaching me how to play this wonderful game! I'm still a beginner with trains, and I've got a question ... Why simple signals in lines and path signals in junctions? Isn't the same to use path signals everywhere and therefore you can avoid mixing signal types?
Good question. The problem is on larger maps and on older computers lots of path signals can cause the game to lag. So some people prefer to limit their use to junctions.
@@MasterHellish Using ctrl+drag with the signals tool adds signals a specified distance apart all the way from where you start to the next junction or existing signal, as you explained in your advance railways tutorial. Normally, ctrl click would remove whatever item is selected, but since ctrl+drag is already used for something, openttd just thinks that ctrl+click is just you wanting to add signals in a series, not remove them.
Man I couldn't build anything in this game, after watching this guy's videos. I'm making 8 station platforms. Connected to a airport, truck drop offs, with a dock. I still don't fully understand city building though. I have this one city with excellent ratings for Valuables, passengers, and mail. But this other city just blow up, without those ratings. My capital 20,000, and that other city 27,000...
Are you using classic acceleration? Your junction design is really bad. 1 tile corners are going to slow the trains enormously and in places where trains are turning on a mainline they block each other. At least you are using the ro-ro stations, that's a good thing :)
Man, after watching this guy plat openTTD, I look at my shitty world. All i do is connect the coal mine and the power station that are the farthest and earn like 150,000 per run... then I spam airfield between the four largest citys and watch my money grown and when ever I try making complex train systems they always crash and die and steal my money.... man I suck at this game...

+PlumCreekRhythmSection Thank you

I highly recommend the newer 6 or 10 series
Thanks for watching

Wow this is a very old video. You might like my new series 5
I fucking love trains.
1:00 if only real life was like this...just plant some random trees all over the place and people stop hating you 😂😂😂
I will get my shovel

Man seeing all those trains all over the place is so amusing

like this series. Just the LHS driving thing gets me confused
Can someone explain why you can't have queuing trains when your station is too close to a mainline network?
You just don't want to block the main line
@@MasterHellish Makes sense, you don't want trains wanting to turn off blocking trains going straight down the main line.

Ok now I get it. Cheers mate, have a nice day! :)
Why do you build the stations as far away as possible to the factories/mines?
To give myself as much room as possible to lay track
i like trains
I think the remove tool works differently because of the ctrl+drag feature.
Not quite sure what you are referring to

i don't know if you fixed this already because you prerecord, right? anyway at 11:23 the trains can't turn right only left :)
why do you place the stations as far away from the factories/buildings as you can? :)
Love the series
I love your videos and i love openttd but one thing is that im not good at overlapping railways .It gets to complicated!!
Gg you rock master hellish
ok thanks. first I thought it has to be placed as close as possible, don't know why :P

hi, how you close all windows in the game? what is close buttom on the keyboard?
The delete key. Thanks for your question
Thank you
signals are far from being efficient and a lot of contention on junctions. +one broken train stopped all the traffic across the map.
You should watch my series 5. This one is really old.
14:27 Maybe because of signal placement
Gedworth Colliery I think good sir :P
Also, just noticed that the sound is slightly out of sync on this video. It's not much, but a few hundred milliseconds :)
ARRGGG how inefficient.
Carbon 12 correct... but fun :)
+Master Hellish man if they saw muy gameplay they lose their mines km really bad
the number of misclicks is tramendous..
Just imagine how it is on mobile T-T
PlatinumSpoons Soooooooo Fucking TRUE
Oh my god please don't make so many tiny mistakes :P!
Why don't you use trucks and roads
Juntion or Junction
Found it
