    It’s true to use what you have. I have a car and once I accepted that a van was not in the foreseeable future, I got my creative juices rolling. I actually slept in my car (impromptu) after fireworks…and I was 2 miles from home. I thought it was good “practice”. Fell asleep waiting turn traffic to clear and opted to stay there overnight.

    Wow! 2 videos in 1 day, how lucky are we! I have never seen a van interior as neat as yours, Nancy; I never get tired of seeing it. I find your van interior calming and peaceful. Your van is like better than new! Your videos should be required viewing for every camping clutter bug out there. I have a 2014 Grand Caravan. I laughed when you showed your usual layout since it is almost exactly the same as mine. I have the same cot and a modified bookshelf with a drop down table as my kitchen at the back. The only real difference between our setups is that I only have a small 12v fridge so it fits under the bed. I keep food in there and my Diet Pepsi in a cooler in the front passenger floor. Eventually I will upgrade the fridge and put it where yours is. I also usually leave the single back row seat up to give me a place to sit and to give me a bit of storage in the back well where the seat would be folded down.

    • @ModernDayPilgrim
      @ModernDayPilgrim  4 місяці тому

      Thanks for watching! That’s fantastic! I love my Coleman comfortsmart cot! It’s perfect for me! I have left the back seat up the quarter seat, small one, but I just don’t like the space it takes up. I’d rather put a chair in there and be able to move it around or get rid of it and use it for the outdoors. But it’s a great option! Have a fantastic evening! Put some 16 oz plastic water bottles in the freezer for the cooler, before you go. These larger blocks of ice keep cold longer and unless they split, they don't leak. You can use them to drink later. Heat a knife on the stove burner and make a slit in the cap of a liter water bottle and you can use it to wash your hair and body. Another wide mouth plastic bottle can be a pee bottle (don't mix them up ;). A damp wash cloth with a bit of soap in a zip lock or some wipes can help you keep yourself clean (the face, the pits, then the stinky bits). A TV tray makes a collapsible table. When boon docking, a collapsible chair and table give you an outdoor living room. A golf or beach umbrella can give you shade. A plastic table cloth will help at picnic tables (which can get gross), at rest areas and parks. A quick stop at a thrift and/or dollar store can round out the gear. Be aware, be safe, have fun.

      @@ModernDayPilgrim Hi! We don't use any of our cooking items REGULARLY - it all depends on the plans -for the road trip we used an electric skillet & tea kettle the entire time - if we are camping, we use the Joulle - (That can run off of a power unit if necessary but it does suck a LOT of power!) and other times we don't cook at all. So, it all depends on how we are camping/traveling, what we use.

    Where do your clothes and tolitries go in this set up? Add those things and a toilet and it gets crowded.

      Thanks for watching! I have a duffel bag for my clothes, and toiletries and the toilet is collapsible, so I would use it, and then collapsed it and put it in the front seat on the floor. Have a fantastic day!

    May I ask, what is the floor to ceiling height in your van?

      Hello! I took this measurement with the carpets that are in vehicle at the time of this video. The ceiling height between the sliding doors to the floor is 4 feet.
      The ceiling in the back of the van closer to the hatch is 45 inches. Hope this helps! Have a fantastic day! 💯😃🙌🏼

      On some models eg Chrysler Town and Country they lock in with a clamp so remove them anytime.

      Some are 'stow and go" - they fold down into the floor.

    I would have something to catch vomit and a place to pee, etc. - I had a bad experience for a couple days in a van one time… prepare for stuff
