You know, I don’t like doing jigsaw puzzles unless I’m doing it with 2 or 3 other people. I don’t think you can do one of your fishing reel jigsaw puzzles. Your knowledge and experience enables you to do this. Doing this is truly an amazing accomplishment. I’ve told you before my preferred fishing reel grease is Super Lube synthetic grease. It is the best grease for all my old vintage Mitchell reels. I’ve started using it on all my vintage spinning reels. It seems to not dry out as quickly and I like the white translucent consistency. Though it can be used for other things than fishing reels, several guys I know that work on a lot of Mitchell and Penn reels recommended Super Lube primarily for the old Mitchells. Two of these guys actually worked for Mitchell before they went out of business but kept servicing Mitchell reels to this day. Both are in their late 80s now. I do use Pen Precision Reel oil exclusively. I learned my lesson about buying unbranded so-called reel oil on EBay. Don’t ever do that! That unbranded oil is CRAP!!! This Penn is going to be a beauty when you finish! Last night I won another Luxor Saumon et Mer No. 3 spinning reel on EBay. It is a PUM version unlike my other one. I’ve learned that this Cadillac stub bail reel I have is surpringly similar to a Centaure Paciic half bail. I’ll send you pics. to see what you think. I love the Cadillac - very smooth and extremely well made! I’m looking at a Ru Mer surf reel now from the guy who sod me that Mer 52 Punch surf reel. I know he sells quality items. I have my kidney surgery tomorrow afternoon. I’m in for a few rough days ahead. That Luxor will arrive on Friday so you need to pull out yours and do a video for me! @@2ndChanceTackle The surgeon broke up one sone on my right side and removed a large stone on my left side. I have stents in both ureters. I once had a cardiac arrest during the removal of a stent. I will be in a great deal of pain until the stents can be removed on Friday or Saturday. They should send me home tomorrow if nothing happens overnight. I’ve had over 40 procedures like this since I was 19. These kidney stones area curse and plague . My fishing reel hobby is a great distraction and so is fishing in water weather. I’m getting a Shimano MLZ 30 spinning reel tomorrow and the Luxor will be here Friday. I just hope I’ll feel well enough to work on them. Thank you so much for your kind words! -- Chris

Great video Dennis! The 209 was my first Penn reel that my father bought me when I was 10 years old. It's black just like this one. Still have it. Hope you are well!
Cool! I have two 209’s one of which is a PEER. Nice reels. The handle kinda wobbles on the PEER though. Probably wore out lol. My brother brought it up from Florida and gave it to me.
The nice thing about these reels is that you can still get parts. You should be able to get a used handle on Ebay for a couple of bucks and keep that reel fishing for ears to come. Thanks Jeff - Dennis
hi dennis. i have a same reel. and the problem is that the winding guide seems not moving totally side to side and making a big bunch of line in the middle of the spool. any tip you can give me when I open it again? thanks

Me again, I was wrong on my previous email about my Penn Peer 209, the brass level wind gear is ok, the reel is missing the white idler that turns the level wind gear. Could give me the name of the gear and if possible the part number?

@@2ndChanceTackle Dennis, looks like pinion gear is broken in half where yoke fit, weird. Having to buy a new gear set and idler gear may not be cost justified by the owner. I had offered to clean and oil his reel but the parts and shipping from Mystic may be prohibitive. Too bad, I really wanted to fix it.
Almost subscribed until you rambled about what you think people should be doing with COVID. Some advice, keep the videos about the reels and the service and you might end up with more views and subs.
