As an American who has lived and worked for the past 20+ years in China, I have seen with my own eyes the separation that leads to prejudice and bias - where expats live and work in only one area of the city - the “expat bubble” and 90% of their interactions are with other expats. These people never learn about the culture, the language, the day-to-day experiences of local Chinese and they are perfectly fine with this type of situation.
