I managed to get my hands on some unused AHL pro return stock Vapor 2X Pros and the difference in my skating and confidence in my moves is night and day coming from the lowest-end Supreme skate. Based not only on your experience with the buckle, but other reports of issues, I knew I wouldn't be going with the first generation of Konekt, but the second or third gen might be on the radar.

Hey Trav. Recently just binged watched a whole bunch of your videos and podcast and it so cool to see your journey. Just had a video idea I would love to see. Seeing how you might be in the FPHL again next year, I would love if you broke down the league for us in a video. The different teams, arenas, how people go up and down from the SPHL and how it affects a team and who goes in to replace them, and who are considered the best / legends in the league and if everyone becomes aware of who these people are. I don’t think many people understand the league as much other than a ‘5th tier hockey league’ and let’s face it, I feel like ppl would care more about the league if a video really broke it down well and teams would see how invaluable you are in the promotion of the league

Great review Trav. Nice and honest. Like the koncpet just not a Bauer foot shape. VH/True one piece and 2 piece cowlingless backup pair. VH/True with cowlings were like cinderblocks, great anchor points. If you have hot spots do what runners do, skip that eyelet. I have a very high instep with boney inner ankle and a wide fore foot- i skip the bottom 2 and the top 4 eyelets, snug not tight, like a good bedroom slipper.
I finally bit the bullet and picked up a pair for myself in January after talking to @Trav and a couple others. Having only ever had Entry level skates before I can honestly say that I have no regrets finally putting some money on my feet. These are SOLID! Be warned the first 4-5 skates will be painful as you try to figure out the strapping option that suits you best. I’ve gone 3 notches on top, 2 on the bottom and feel super dialled in now. As a 40+ year old beer leaguer did I need these skates…No…not at all. Am I glad I picked them up, you bet your ass.
My buckles broke too, the design of the buckles naturally rotated the metal anchoring points out of the buckle, I now reinforce the base of the buckles with tape

Unfortunately, I was also victim already of the broken buckle. It seems its always the lower buckle. Its a bad design, that aluminum 90 that fits in there is a soft metal, you cant expect it to hold with the way they crimped it in there. I had a game the next night, so I feathered in some jb weld epoxy with a toothpick and set it, and its held ever since (4-5 skates). Bauer rep said they will mail me some but they do not have anymore at the moment. For the record, 3rd notch up high, first notch down low. flintstone feet
I bought the Konekt's recently. I really wanted to love them. But, I have really flat and wide feet. Even pulling out the insole and trying SuperFeet didn't work for me. The pain was just too great. For the few times that my feet didn't kill, I thought the skates performed great and did everything I wanted them to do. Sadly, I had to return them, because I couldn't overlook the pain. Any suggestions for this 62 year old goalie that plays 4-5 times a week?
I remember having Micron molded goal skates when I was 9. They fell apart. I have no desire to try Konekt skates. I don't need them. I like tying skate laces. Besides, I could skate in two Kleenex boxes taped to my feet. But just because I don't like them, doesn't mean that they aren't good.
Great review, but you don't have the EXACT same attack angle as cowlingless skates. They're taller so they require less vertical movement to do the same pushes.
Bro, thank you for the spring 2024 info. Watched this before dropping dough on the current konekts. Do you think the busted buckle is just a result of factory poo-poo QC on the set screws? Construction Loc-Tite them suckas.
I've been wearing the same Graf goalie skates for 22 years, and counting. Few new sets of steel/cowlings, but still running strong. These ski boot skates seem like an overpriced gimmick, and nothing else. Think these will last more than a year? Two tops?

These skates are great. Fit, feel and mobility is the best I’ve ever had.
I did have my right lower buckle pop but a little hockey tape and no issues.

Man do I ever love them, I’m 6’6 so I’m more of a butterfly goalie so I use the rvh a lot and having the konekt’s is a game changer for my rvh.

I finally bit the bullet and picked up a pair for myself in January after talking to @Trav and a couple others. I'd think a pass or two with a little tape around both buckles is prudent.

Yup! Will have an update for you next month. Will be the 3 month rehab and return to skating :)
