It was my dream for forty years to own a left handed Fender Strat and try, attempt, strive, struggle to get near Hank's sound....but could not afford one. Now I have a Squier Standard leftie guitar . With a Marshall amp, and a echo/ vintage delay unit I am able to approach close to Hank' sound. The Squier is a blessing to guitarists like me who have Hank as their goal but can't afford the real thing.

I have one of these, stock pickups. I bought it for £200 just wanting a decent Japanese made Strat. I bought it but didn't really play it at all, just put it up and was using a bunch of other guitars and then kind of forgot about it. Eventually I found myself with a bit of time to restring it and do a bit of a set up on it and was blown away. It's definitely my favourite Strat, and when I was gigging it it always got lots of nice comments, not that I was using it for any Shadows stuff. It has faded quite a bit to a definite Orange which is just fantastic.

Thank you for commenting and your observations are reassuring to hear. You definitely got a bargain there with that purchase! The neck is solid and seems like good quality wood. Whenever I play the 2022 Squier 50s Classic Vibe, it does feel "cheaper" (cheap tuning pegs for instance) which alone justifies why the Japanese built models should be superior. There's something about the character of an "old" guitar as well that can be immensely satisfying and the Hank Marvin Signature model has aged well.
      Best regards, Dale Harris

Nice details and sound test, Dale! I hadn't heard of this model before.

Hi Josh, hope you're well? Maybe these Squier Hank Marvin guitars didn't reach the USA? It was a limited run. The sound test was rather simplistic by my standards but I'm struggling with an injury. My left arm tricep is completely knotted and it's causing tendonitis in my fretting hand fingers. All the best, Dale

You forgot to say they were called the drifters first.

From age 4 I played my mother's records that included Cliff Richard And The Drifters, but I also played my father's Shadows records (who was a Hank Marvin follower). It was later that I heard about the name change due to a cease and desist. I've remained confused ever since! Best regards, Dale Harris

The change of name came about cause there was already a band (albeit a vocal harmony band) called the Drifters, this occurred around the time Cliff & his band were going to the USA , Ed Sullivan Show i believe. Great demo, a friend has just purchased one from GuitarGuitar today hence finding your video clip
