    I wanted to emphasize that I'm a regular viewer who really enjoys your content. The advice to "Just start!!" really resonated with me. I'm a dedicated fan who always watches your videos. If you could add English subtitles to your videos, I would be incredibly grateful. I think it would help more people access your amazing content.

    "Just start" So true. . .and that start has many different forms. For us, presently, its just providing something fresh when we have a little extra on hand. Yesterday for example our two kitties got an ounce or two of pork trimmings while I was prepping dinner. Right now the trimmings are about all I can do. It's not always daily, but it is frequently.
    I can't wait to get the freezer space to start introducing new things to them though.

    This is one of the most important videos you've ever made. Thank you for this. Many of your old videos go down endless rabbit holes. And it's not that balance, etc. is not important. But the extreme emphasis that has happened over the last few years where people are told time and time again that every single meal must be 100% balanced as per their definition of that has pushed many people away from Rawfeeding. It has scared people, they think their dog is literally going to die if it doesn't have all these things in its bowl for every meal. Those of us that have been feeding for over 20 years no differently. So thank you thank you for making this video.

    Great advice. I have been raw feeding for 14 years. I only knew the basics when I started, which is probably adequate but have since improved a bit. It is really very simple. Nutritionists and diet formulators make it way too complex. What scares people is that they are going to kill their dog unless they consult a nutritionist. There are many nutritionists I disagree with, and my dogs are doing great at 15 and almost 16.

    I love your channel. You are the reason I started feeding my 3 cats a raw diet almost 3 years ago when I got them as kittens. I wasn’t discouraged when I watched your videos about “balanced diets” and I literally mimicked how you fed Tangy for my cats including supplements like kelp powder and vitamin e oil. I also order from wild fork foods in order to get kidney and hearts. Thank you so much!

    This video came so TIMELY for me! Last year I started exploring raw food for my cats for the first time. I stopped for a period due to various health problems with the cats but have just started again. And this time I'm even more nervous to start because I have two cats to feed with two different needs. Your video came in perfect timing for me encouraging to just start. Thanks!

    I am doing my pet food rn and it is usually the time I put your videos on!
    Funny that I had a busy week and wasnt able to make my cats food, he had to eat wet food and kibble for some days, it is so crazy how BAD it is for him, I felt bad because he hates kibble... here is what I saw on his behavior (ps. In my country we dont have good raw commercial food, only some really expansive brands with a lot of rice and vegetables, so it is not an option for me):
    1. He wasnt sleeping all night, always waking up and getting crazy really early
    2. His energy levels were crazy too, he had peacks of energy in different times of the day and he usually does not have that when he is eating his food (his routine when eating raw is perfect, energy in the morning and night when we play with him)
    3. His poop was sooo smelly and big, I didnt remember how bad it was because it usually doesnt smell at all
    4. He seemed to be always hungry 😢
    Anyway, just wanted to share my experience, for now on I will try to be better into making his food before it ends 😢

    Happy Purrsday! Great video. Too many people think what to feed a pet is a competitive sport. Team Kibble vs. Team fresh food. LOL It's not. As you said, if raw feeding scares you, just add some to the commercial food. Eventually, you will learn how to provide a proper meal. Those hundreds of vets and nutritionists at Mars candy and Hill's want you to feed mostly corn and wheat to herbivores (dogs) and obligate carnivores (cats). There are brands of cat litter made of corn and wheat. Yummy!

    Definitely discouraged me from starting to feed raw from your earlier videos a few years back that stressed how important it was to balance and the percentages of each ingredient and the different ingredients needed to balance each and every meal especially because I have a 3 month old puppy so every meal of hers needed to be balanced and I was watching your videos to learn how to feed her raw!!! I watched about 10 of your videos and went and bought a bag of kibble 😂😂. I didn’t think I could do this and didn’t want to cause harm because I wasn’t doing it right! But ultimately my dogs disappointment from the fresh food she was tasting here and there to a bowl of kibble made me continue to watch your videos and not be so scared as I do think a kibble diet is even more “no good” for dogs! I just decided to start and have become better and better at balancing as it’s been 3 weeks now. She’s so excited to eat and I’m happy that’s she’s so excited!! Thanks for all the information you’ve given!!!

    I must admit that watching your videos "at first" made me want to close my computer and not try. Or at least look elsewhere for something simpler I could understand as a new mom to a puppy trying to get raw feeding going. So, in this, I like your honesty that you even saw the dilemma there. It is still a lot of information, but it is so worthy of having and knowing to keep my little Bear healthy.

    Hi Mariah! I have a question...what's the importance of rotating proteins? If you have a recipe that meets all of the nutritional requirements for your pet, is there a reason to find different recipes with different proteins to meet the requirements? Is it just for variety for the pet? Love your videos, they're SUPER helpful!! TIA for your time 😁

    • @hallaloth3112
      @hallaloth3112 Місяць тому +2

      There is a concern that feeding too much of the same thing can lead to an intolerance. Or if your pet just abruptly stops eating what you provide, having an alternative protein can help rule out if its the protein or something else. Sometimes their preferences change. . .and if you've only been feeding chicken. . .suddenly trying to transition to turkey so they at least eat SOMETHING isn't always easy.

    • @dalebailey754
      @dalebailey754 Місяць тому

      @@hallaloth3112 I agree. And I’ll add that not every bowl is typically 100% completely balanced, and the variety not only keeps it interesting for your dog, it provides a wider variety of nutrients.

    I think it is fun to try to find different proteins to feed my dogs and cats. But I am limited by the resources that are in my area and also my budget. yes, I would love to get a bunch of different proteins, the exotic proteins that people seem to have, but I just can't do it. I do what I can with what I've got, and it is still very good. I can get everything I need, except green, tripe, from the local grocery store. I'm very lucky. People don't realize that you don't need to spend hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of dollars and feed 15 different kinds of exotic proteins to make a great raw diet for your animals. But it can completely be done even in a small town with not many resources. And with a small budget.

There is also a processing facility in my town, and I can go there and make purchases. I plan on asking g them for heart, spleen, eyeballs, and even green tripe. So my 2 dogs are not yet eating raw-been waiting for someone who could show me how it should be, and your it. I just downloaded your meal sheets and am watching lots of your videos as well as others. Am going to start off with chicken breast like you suggested for a week and then add 1 more meat etc. my 7 yr old golden receiver has always had itchy skin from day 1. (Can’t wait to get her on raw and off kibble). Couple times a year she licks and bleed needing antibiotics. Also she acts like she’s gagging often and has to have grass to help it. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for how I can help her with the itching and tummy issues till she sees some benefits after being on raw diet?? Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I know it would be better than antibiotics or shots and pills for itching.

They are capable of digesting simple carbohydrates occasionally, just like human beings, but it damages them in the long term if done chronically. They end up developing a host of metabolic disorders, such as diabetes and obesity, just like humans. My medical education is fine; mammalian physiology hasn’t changed since 1989.

    I don’t think you scared anyone away by stressing the importance of balancing a raw diet. I think some people just realized they aren’t willing to go through that much effort for their pet. Buying chicken feet, chicken hearts, beef, liver, organic eggs, organic beef, lungs, mackerel, dulse granules, kefir, and blueberries, is extra work. And portioning takes an extra 4 to 5 minutes every meal. But my baby is worth it
