    It astounds me at how much material these guys can put out and at the Quality. Their new album is insane. This album was insane. Every album is insane, no I mean it's crazy, no I mean it's Meshuggah.

      Personally i prefer the albums before Koloss and TVSOR, but they're still cool. I think the tone on those albums wasn't as good as Obzen, Catch 33, I, etc, Nothing, etc...

    • @khoile4271
      @khoile4271 3 роки тому

      @@matttaylor1449 To each their own, dude. For me, Koloss (especially this song), and TVSOR are the albums that sealed the deal with Meshuggah. Only after I thoroughly listened to those two, like a hundred times over had I gone and listened to their earlier works. Now, only their most recent works fit my ear, with a few exceptions from the earlier ones.

    Very underrated song. It took me ages to feel the pulse, until I heard the live version on Ophidian Trek (where the hi-hat is a bit louder in the mix) and I realized it's got a triplet or 'shuffle' feel, but the chugs are all on the off-beats. Very minimalist solo from him too, makes the song seem even more huge. Frederick Thordendal is a God.

      A true genius. Could play something crazy like in MonstroCity or The Mouth Licking What You've Bled but instead plays a couple of notes, going for an eerie falling down kind of sound. Which is exactly what the song needed. I love this man!

    It's considered, by those who like it, to be among the most lushly technical yet groovy metal out there. I didn't used to dig it, but now I do. I would say the key to appreciating it is hearing the drums, guitars, and vocals as one entity while at the same time following how their individual parts change together. Like a swirling system of sounds, it must be appreciated as a whole. It takes time. Catch 33 is my favorite album as it is more "artistic" in my opinion.

    Yes there is. The hi-hat is being clicked on a 4/4 beat. In a good portion of the song he's hitting his snare on the third beat. If you count 1,2,3,4 throughout the song new sections of the song will start on beat 1. This song has polyrhythms everywhere.

    This is amazing. Such tight playing. Anyone else notice that it is also doubled up though? Becomes really apparent when listening on headphones. Either that or the Axe-FX has an extremely convincing doubling effect. I think he has probably just went over it twice though. Which makes it super duper tighter deluxe.

    I was like that too, but Meshuggah definitely takes a fine ear to understand what's happening. I always thought they were boring because pretty much every song sounds similar (and to a degree, they do), but it's more about the rhythmic aspects than the note choices. After listening to Meshuggah for awhile, I finally understood why they're "ahead of their time", so to speak. Why do you think so many djent bands are just now popping up? It's all because of Meshuggah.
