Alan Sugar is parrially right. A lot of footballers are born with their hand out, palm open. But some are not. As for Venables, he shouldn't have been trusted with any financial decisions. He don't play with a straight bat.

Selfish and self centred?.....He's a fine one to talk. I'm sure he didn't build his empire by being Mr Nice guy.

Venables = good football coach....but knows nothing about business including the football business. Totally over his head a Chief Executive.

Brilliant use of the word "cobblers" Danny.
A much under-used word in this day and age.

Interestingly, the best footballing metaphor of all time is Barney Ronay's assertion that being an Arsenal fan these days must be like "being tickled to death by Fiona Bruce".

Alan Sugars time at Tottenham was amongst the worst in our history. He said he saved Tottenham. I’m not sure how. He sacked venebles. One of England’s best coaches. And sold Gazza. And just like Apple, he missed the boat on the potential of the premier league. And his manager choices. Graham, Gross, and Ardiilas. Insulting klinsman. Levy’s had criticism for being trigger happy firing managers and for being realistic about players wages. But you can’t deny the progress made under him. If only he was there in 91.

Lewis, there were other people interested in buying Spurs at the time, Richard Littlejohn was fronting one group but it came down to who Scholar wanted to sell to. Scholar was one of the main promoters of a breakaway league (mid-80s) which Sugar carried on with (Prem-league & BskyB TV rights) less than a year after taking over Spurs.

How can you be a fan and not realise what perilous state the PLC was in 1990/1991
The club was literally finished and about to go under. Well Levy wasn't there in 1991 because back then Sugar was worth ten times Levy.
