This was the first song I can remember listening that opened another world to me. I still love the all the US/UK pop and rock, but this song introduced me to sounds, rhythms and harmonies that I had no idea existed. It's one of those comfort songs that just gives me a few moments of joy every time I hear it.

I'm not from South Africa, but when I was on a trip to Israel, I met a South African girl who turned me onto Johnny Clegg, and I was hooked for life! I didn't know that he was ill and passed, I am so sorry to hear that. Gd bless South Africa!!!

This is one of the men who held the divided South Africa together. He died too soon, South Africa hasn't yet reached that goal we all prayed for. Nelson Mandela, Johny Clegg, Leon Chuster and PJ Powers are those iconic people in SA who had a way to resolve our differences without any conflict. May his soul rest in peace, I used to listen to this song as a kid, loving it without even knowing the singer.

He did receive an OBE thankfully! He was and always will be one of the most inspiring people I've ever come across. I will never forget the first time I heard this song, and exactly where I was... I was absolutely transfixed! I had never heard anything like it in my life! I couldn't wait to get my hands on the album and I did manage to see him live in London twice. Legend, who deserved the OBE and who will be dancing for joy in heaven now - not for the awards, but for the love he brought in recognising that people are people, and racial bullshit has no place anywhere! ua-cam.com/video/WcvRbf5IgNg/v-deo.html

I remember those brutal years. What he did was not fashionable, but mighty! It was incredible, soul-stirring, rebellious, important, beautiful, warrior-music. He made a statement, made us proud, lifted our spirits, gave us the determination to plough through bitter years, bitter tears, and made us dance. I love Johnny Clegg, and I am grateful for his contribution to our lives. A mighty one has passed, and I am shocked at the news.

I saw Juluka in Cleveland Ohio during their first US tour. It was an amazing experience to be introduced to the music of South Africa by a white Englishmen raised in Africa. I now have a great love for all music coming from all of the African continent as well as the hybridizations coming from Europe. Thanks to Johnny for introducing me, an African American, one of the “Scatterlings of Africa” to the music of the motherland.

Johnny was planted in the rich soil of Grace on eart, with his Angel duties of peace and love in his soul. At 66 he's ascended back to the Heavens with his job well done. The skies are singing and dancing as sprinkles of star dust of humanity and hope hits us just right encouraging the journey of peace to move on through the storm. ♥️♥️😥

Thanks for everything, Johnny Clegg. You will always be a hero to me. A weaver who showed people everything they have in common. And how enriching different cultures can be when they unite. Undermining the very idea of apartheid with your music.
    Thoughts and prayers from Sweden.🇸🇪❤️🇿🇦
