  • Hazel Mount Fellside is the perfect getaway for families, small groups, couples or the solo traveller wanting to get back to nature and away from the hustle and bustle of the more popular hotspots within the National Park
Hazel Mount Fellside is a lovely, quiet, private site to just simply sit back, soak in the glorious 360° views, and reconnect with your loved ones without the distractions of modern life.
The site is lightly grazed and as a result attracts a plethora of wildflowers and wildlife. So we ask that you don't burn any wood found on site (for wildlife reasons), that you don't climb the trees (most of which are ancient and could have rotten branches), that you are careful around the crumbling stonewalls (some of which we intend to restore), and that anything you bring on site, you take with you when you leave.
If you do feel like exploring, there are a couple of bridleways and footpaths that are easily accessible from Hazel Mount Fellside, including a beautiful route that takes you past Swinside Stone Circle. The circle was constructed at some period, between 3,300 to 900 BC. Megalithic specialist Aubrey Burl called Swinside "the loveliest of all the circles" in north-western Europe.
When you feel like venturing further afield, the gorgeous sandy beaches at Haverigg and Silecroft are a 10 minute drive away, Coniston 20 minutes, and Ambleside and Windermere are both about 40.
Amenities in the nearby town of Millom include a couple of small supermarkets, takeaway restaurants, butchers, a laundrette, and several small independent shops.
Local pubs and eateries in the area include, The Clock Tower, The Punch Bowl, The Black Cock Inn, Old Kings Head and others for you to discover.
    The site comprises of:
    1) The main camping area with an adjacent firepit and outdoor kitchen unit, overlooks the gorgeous Duddon estuary. This area is booked as one whole unit exclusively for your group (maximum 8 people with 3 cars unless agreed otherwise at time of booking).
    2) A few camping pitches dotted around the site, so that each guest can enjoy their own little bubble of paradise.
    3) A traditional hay meadow that is closed during the growing season, but then becomes an additional camping area once the crop has been harvested.
