    Thanks for this information.
    I have two questions:
    1. Should we do the copyright for the music ourselves?
    2. Can the publishers do it or maybe someone else instead of us?

Great info man. Tweeting this out. Watched this entire video and I was wondering should I be a member of many PRO"S? I ask because I see on many artist videos have in their descriptions; "member of blah blah blah and eight other performing rights organizations." I only belong to BMI and Songtrust. BMI for live and songtrust for mechanical. Should I be associated with others also or should I be covered for now?

I would say the Harry Fox Agency if you have a publishing company..and sound exchange ...Songtrust may already cover those for you tho.

Is tunecore a pro or publisher? I am signed up with BMI and I'm trying to cover all my beats. Any advice

RT Production Tunecore is a distributor but they do have publishing options. You’ll have to talk to them more about their services. BMI is your PRO so you are good there as far as performance royalties are concerned.

You forgot to mention the third biggest PRO in the US. Pro Music Rights.

This video gives misinformation: A Publisher seeks to collect Mechanical royalties and monies through synchronization. A publisher may or may not seek to get your music placed depending on the contract and the purpose of you contacting the publisher. If you go through a label then the label may buy your beat and have an artist of their choice work with that beat. The Publishers job would be to seek out the royalties to pay part to the songwriter and part to the producer. Performance Rights organizations seek to collect royalties where the music is performed or played in a public settings of commercial use i.e., a bar, a theatre, or live performance. Then there is digital sales through t.v. apps, pandora, and etc. A publisher may collect this for you but may not be as adamant about collecting digital sales through this avenue, so things like sound exchange exist if you do not have a publishing deal.
