This was a fun one to do! It has been a long time since I had Velveeta in my mac n cheese. The #traydividers did it again. You can pick some up at the store! www.freezedryingsupplies.com
I love comments like this cheese is toxic. LOL first ingredients are whey and milk protein. ok it has canola oil and that may not be the best thing but in a world turned upside down situation and you are starving are you holding out for organic carrots or are you going to eat the velveeta? This stuff is delicious and somehow tastes better than the blue box of kraft. it's pretty good in chili cheeseburger mac and cheese too. It's good mixed up with the rotel can too. we keep some of that powdered in the cabinet to make a quick cheese sauce to pour on stuff. or add it directly into scrambled eggs.
Nope, I'm not going to eat the velveeta. I will eat the crappy, even worse for you, powdered cheese in Kraft mac & cheese. I love that mystery powder. 😁🤪🙃
I made this last night, using your recipe. Most is in the freeze dryer right now, but the small bowl I had last night was the bomb! Not the healthiest, but definitely true comfort food for when the SHTF!
I watched another youtuber do freezedryed pasta she put a cover on hers when she reconstituted it! She said it made all the differance to the taste and texture!
Awesome....I will make this soon. I note that your meter measures electrical conduction via water....the oil in the cheese may not count. May not good good for 25 years. The Kraft dinner types of pre pack stuff is OK for a fee years....I think my longest has been 5 years.
Hmmm I wonder how the frozen pastry sheets that you used to top pies with.. or other store bought things like pilsbury cookie dough, cinnamon rolls, or croissants.. Will freeze dry for long storage.. And how will they reconstitute for use..
I'm gonna have to give this a try! Looks like a good idea. I did some buffalo chicken pasta and it worked out pretty well, but I was surprised the pasta had a strong chicken taste... and I used penne pasta and also decided it should be a smaller type of pasta.
just a thought. I powder with a ninja blender that has the dual level blades and it makes a LOT LESS mess. I wonder if I can FD our home made mac n cheese with real cheese, evap milk, and more cheddar on top?
Does the velvets have too much oil for long term storage??? That ‘oil’ question is one that Harvest Right has never answered! We aren’t adding preservatives, so how long will this last?
Hey I’m A new freeze dryer I live in Fl Hurricanes etc. If the power goes off and comes back on within a few minutes. What do I do if I have a load I. Dryer?
They say 2 servings but in real life we all know that with the energy to cal. Ratio it's one serving when I could go hiking all I bought was 2 servings to use as singles
I did this long before I ever seen this video but I found mine to be chewy but I also personally like it that way I don't like mushy noodles but after being reconstituted it was a little bit more rubbery than at first

Can you use regular cheese? I have an aversion to velveta. It's fishing cheese. My dad used velveta just for fishing and Everytime I see velveta I can smell a smelly fishing tackle box. Yetch!!!
R@40 - Will you ever consider selling tray dividers and silicone liners for the Harvest Right small freeze drier? I’m single, and don’t need the larger freeze driers.
i asked the same thing a few months ago. he still only has med and large in his store. John in Bibs has a video where he uses stainless steel dividers just like these but they are not cheap. He has a link or mentions it on his videos where he bought his. I haven't ordered any yet. I don't have the name right now.
He mentions his website, which is not the Harvest Right website, a few times and links it. They, and the portion dividers shown, are sold on his own website.
I bought your green dividers. They are frozen in my food. Do I run them through the FD stuck in my food? Or do I need to heat up my food somehow to be able to get the dividers out? I tried putting on them and they are not moving loose 🤦🏻♀️😳
Lol @ "pretty good amount of oil in it". Its primarily made from whipped oil proteins added. Now do the bad for me one I like.. the Kraft mac & cheese mystery powder. 😁🤪
IDK if you'll see this @Retired at 40 but HarvestRight has dropped the ball. We purchased the medium unit through your affiliate link. It arrived quicker than expected, no problems. But we fought no vacuum pressure for two days. Finally discovered the door gasket isn't sealing. I mean, like stick your finger in between the door and gasket on half the circumference (which also explained the big puddle of water on the cabinet and floor). Called Customer Service who said "oh just pull the gasket out farther". That worked so we could do the vacuum test. On to the burn in. Oops! No vacuum pressure. Pull the gasket farther out again. I guess we're going to have to adjust the gasket out every time we freeze dry something. Very disappointing!

why not just measure out the milk and cheese powder and mix that together then your portions are done just add the cheese thats already preloaded with the milk
don't take this personally, but that is discussing. I did not know people actually eat Velvetta, I thought is was a plastic substitute. Yes, I am a food snob.

Because of tje oil and fat content in the valveta, how long do you think this would last in mylar with absorbers

Nothing says awesome 'comfort food' like a homemade mac-n-cheese made with Velveeta.
Look at the video from John in bibs and how he cooked his macaroni. It’s amazing how it turns out.

Ditilini pasta works great for mac & cheese
Before freeze drying, why not melt the Velveeta in the milk, and then pour it out and freeze?

Velveeta isn't as greasy as you think. Place a piece of velveeta on a paper napkin or paper towel for a few hours. Not really any grease.

Hey Brian great video as always! With the oil in the velveeta how long do you think it will store??
I am not able to give a solid answer on that. There are so many variables, even from user to user. Almost everything will store several years
I have one question.... Is the "New" oil less pump quiet enough for an apartment ?

48 oz cooked and drain noodles
2/3 cup of milk
24 oz velveeta cheese
*Salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder to taste/optional
When you’re finished freeze drying the macaroni and you want it to be individual macaroni will it break apart without crumbling? Or is that possible?
If you are just fd,ing the noodles, they will come apart individually and whole.

Is it possible to bake in the Harvest Right trays using the portion dividers? I want to make brownies right from the oven to the freeze dryer.
On another video Brian says NOT to put them in the oven.
How often do you use your dryer? One a week or more?
This time of year its running almost 24/7
How do you determine how long to freeze dry each item? Or does the freeze dryer measure the moisture and freezes accordingly??
Freeze dryer adjusts based on you mtorr level. Its not always 100%, so the meter and your eyes and fingers can tell if its totally done.
Wish they had these when I was backpacking 80/90 i see a lot better food that i would take and cheaper
