Pest control tech here, I carry a wave plus and an air lite(no tanto for me though)since I have to get into appliances, outlets, chemical packaging, etc. It's a great pairing
I have had the Bareknuckle for about 6 months now and it quickly became one of my favorite EDCs. Carries really well and great ergos too. Looks cool in that grey color. Thumbs up on the new intro 👍
I love the Bareknuckle,it’s my personal favorite Kershaw knife.I got the champagne gold 20CV Knife Center exclusive model..I’m personally not a huge fan of assisted opening knives but the Link,Leek,Dividend and Knockout are excellent USA made Kershaw knives..I’ve probably EDCed my M390 Link more than any other knife in my collection..I paid $70 for my M390 Link which is unbelievable.one would be extremely hard pressed to find a USA made knife with an M390 blade and anodized aluminum scales for less.A Benchmade in the same materials would be $200+..I don’t think Kershaw make the Link in M390 anymore but now they have the newer versions in 20CV with the milling in the aluminum scales and it’s $80..my 20CV Bareknuckle was $110..you just can’t beat Kershaw prices when it comes to USA made knives in “super steels”
The Buck sprint pro is an amazing knife. I have carried it for the last couple years. I did have to hammer down/flatten the weird pocket clip down but other than that is has been perfect. It is sooooo smooth in those bearings The bareknuckle has some qc issues with the detent. I have tested some that would not open. Make sure you try it out at the store and find one that opens smoothly. For a edc fixed blade it is hard to beat the esee izula 1 or 2. It is only $50-$60. The 1095 steel is super robust. I have used it to baton small logs.
I used to have a buck sprint select and the action was smooth to a fault and actually opened in my pocket a few times. Traded it in for the buck momentum which is automatic with a safety switch. Much better.
For anyone looking at the street beat, but wanting something a little bigger for tactical/self defense, there is also a 4 inch bladed version called a street bowie. Carried it daily for over a year and love it.
A bit larger alternative to the Spyderco Street Beat is the Kizer Little River Bowie. Similar profile with contoured G10 scales. And comes with a nice Kydex sheath. Also for a similar size knife with the best ergo's of any fixed blade I've ever handled is the Kizer Sequoia. Which has contoured scales that feel as if they were molded to fit your hand and has a finger choil so you can choke up for detail work. It also comes with an excellent Kydex sheath. In fact the Sequoia is my EDC fixed blade and is almost always on my side.
A really fine, round, file that tapers to a fine point works really well on even small, close knit serrations. Accusharp makes a multi-sharpener with one attached
The ceramic rod portion for serrations on the workshop field sharpener has a pretty nicely sized circumference for most teeth I've come across. They also make one with a slim folding rod on another one of their small sharpeners that works very well also.
Would love to see your favorite working man knives: affordable, durable, simple designs meant to take a licking and last a lifetime. The type of thing a grizzled grandpa would hold and quietly nod a scowl of approval at.
Spyderco PM2 is the perfect user knife IMO..I’m not sure if grandpa would like it or not because it’s more of a modern design than the traditional style Buck 110s,Buck 112s and Case Trappers that grandpa would more than likely gravitate towards.the PM2 allows for easy one handed opening and closing.the handle design feels great holding it behind the choil and it feels just as amazing when you choke up on the blade using the choil and thumb ramp.the compression lock is a strong and durable locking mechanism.it has the iconic wide left shaped blade with a full flat grind like Spyderco is known for which makes for an excellent slicer while the blade is still substantial enough for tougher jobs.it is made in the USA in Golden Colorado to be exact.it can be found in many different excellent blade steels but is most commonly found in the G-10+S30V which is the base model and it goes for around $150
Another option for sharpening serrations that I've seen is getting a few dowels of varying diameters from an arts & crafts store (a chopstick also works) and wrapping them in adhesive backed sandpaper.
I can highly recommend the White River Backpacker pro as an EDC and last ditch tactical fixed blade. Easy to carry, good blade steel and awesome ergonomics.
Hi David, a bit ago I asked for a cheaper version of an esee 6, I have bought the rat 7 and I have been very impressed with it so thank you for that. Now I only need a smaller bushcraft knife to go with it. Kinda looking for a puukko style, and preferably a scandi grind. Thanks in advance.
DCA, I have a need... a need for a good folding sheep's foot bladed knife... ok, it may not roll off the tongue as nicely, but help me out please! Any steel, budget friendly, lock back or lock bar preferred, but that's not a deal breaker, and in a perfect world a pair of scissors would be sweet, but I know I am asking a lot there. Thank you for the videos, I'm a huge fan.
Thanks for discussing Cold Steel's serrations. I commented last week that I avoid their serrated blades 'cause I didn't know what to use to sharpen them (in contrast with easier to sharpen serrations, like Spydercos, where I just use the Sharpmaker).
I’ve had a few Spyderco knives coming out of Taiwan that were amazing in their build quality. I was wondering if David could list a few of his top picks of Taiwanese-made knives. Could be both a US company or a Taiwanese company for that part.
Hi David. I found this item on your website for sharpening serrated blades. GATCO Scepter 2.0 Diamond Plain and Serrated Knife Sharpener - 50015. Great show you have by the way.
Best EDC fixed blade I’ve ever carried would have to be the Bradford Guardian 3 and Guardian 3.5..the ESEE Izula/Izula 2 is a pretty sweet more budget friendly option
Hi DCA. I'm a big fan of the Knifecenter FAQ. I'm a rock climber. I need a knife able to cut through nylon and spectra/ dyneema slings, from 8 to 20 mm in width and also dynamic rope ranging from 9 to 10.5 mm. It doesn't necessary need to be a folder, but have to be small enough to carry in a climbing harness. It also need to have a hole big enough to pass a carabiner through or have a built-in carabiner. Thank you, Sir.
Hi David. I know you have appreciation for micarta as a handle material; I certainly do as well. We are seeing it on more knives (especially folders) every day, which is very exciting, but with so many options, it can be hard to choose. What are a couple of micarta folders options that you recommend...not necessarily budget options, but maybe staying away from italian made...perhaps 150 bucks or less, and prioritizing the quality and feel of the material over blade steel and even action. Bonus question: which Chinese made brand is producing the best micarta in your opinion? Thanks and Happy 30th episode. Love the series!
I want a video specifically about Wharncliffe blades. Folders & fixed blades. My CRKT SPEW is my knew favorite knife. My Mora Bushcraft is my go-to for big bushcraft tasks but my SPEW is for carving on my walking staffs & whittling. Ordering myself an Artisan Cutlery Sea Snake & CRKT Crawford Kasper Dragon from Knife Center.
For someone who just got sucked into the Knive World and lives in Germany: Can you recommend a locking knive below 4 inches that you have to open with two hands? Since our §42a is what it is, it has to be that way to carry it. So no flipper, autos, or anything like that. Thanks, love the show!
Dear sir there exist mpre than just flat sharpening files: triangular and round files are cheaper. Also you can wrap sandpaper on a chopstick. (last one us last option)
I have an ESSE 6 and Izula 2 and I have literally beated them into trees, used them as standing points, and then levered them out with no damage. They're stout, heavy, and will do what you need and more. The warranty is also marvelous!
Best video you guys have done. Lots of info and very concise keep it up. I have been looking for a sharpener for the cold steel serrations and had not heard of the one you mentioned definitely gonna get one.
Which knife would you recommend for a premium large (8” blade or bigger) survival/tactical knife. Chop, baton, bushcraft, skin, camping and slicing. Which blade steel? Great job on the series, thank you!
Love my burgundy micarta Ace Biblio, sharpest knife I own just about. That’s a great suggestion going up in size to the Steel Will, but another possibility might be the Griptilian sheepsfoot blade. (?) Seems like a logical step up and S30V as well, but your suggestion was a new knife to me and certainly fits the request. Thanks for the video and sharpening tips. P.S., instead of the White River I’d totally go with a Bradford 3.5 with Sabre or full flat grind. Super quality, and scout carry, thanks.
No Bear and Son knives? Knife Center sells them and most are American made. One is S30V Bear Ops bearings flipper for $49.99 and I have one and though it is on the heavy side after I sharpened the factory edge off it cuts great and holds an edge very well. They kind of softened the edge by sharpening without a coolant on the grinding belt.
Hi David C. Anderson. My name is Adam G. Morgan. A little backstory on me, I like knives. Particularly ones with rough textured micarta scales. Has your hands come across any that have a more rough, textured feel. Preferably in a folding knife design with a friendly price point. Thank you for the q and a segments, we knife nerds appreciate it.
What about the ace grand ? When you want to go up in size from the Ace Biblio the Ace Grand seams like the next step . Or if you like the Para 3 but its not big enough try the PM2 or even the Military if you need it bigger yet . With those you wouldn't be downgrading in materials , too far anyway . There are a ton of Spyderco variations so pick your flavor .
Hey David! Love the new intro, I think u should have done that a long time ago, that aside I was looking for a decent everyday knife, with a really deep carry pocket clip as not everyone accepts knives, special woman 😅. The blade aught to be a good thin slicing blade as I will be using it mainly for food preparation and I need a good lock with reliable company. The price, I don't care, I will give a shit load of money, so don't be afraid to throw in some customes! Cheers Daviiiiii
wow, so I was just raving about how the kabar war sword comes with a spear kit, including a small skelotonized knife and some chord,,, but that harpoon is ONLY a spear kit, and man, it looks like a good one. find a stick and away you go!
Hey David C. It would be so cool if you could take a few minutes to break down the main types of aftermarket clips that can attach to most fixed blade sheaths.
Hey David, please explain all the reasons the Georgia based company Southern Grind is :) I have the bad monkey with black G10 and I absolutely love it!
Hello from across the pond in England. Love your videos and the information you put out. I love friction folders. My favourite knives are the Svörd Peasant and the Deva Skanda. What others would you recommend in the same style or, if not, something with a long tang, like the Peasant, so my palm or thumb can essentially be the 'lock'?
Always fun to watch Jim Hopper from stranger things review these knives. Love the channel and I really appreciate the many videos with a focus on AMERICAN MADE 🇺🇸 knives!!!!
The Bareknuckle could be such a great knife IF Kershaw tackles the hard opening issue. It's not so much a break-in problem but more of a handle shape problem. The fingers fall naturally on top of the lock bar, thus making it very hard to flick for right handers; no amount of lube or hard flicks changes that (maybe tune up the detent?). Turns out it's quite decent if you use your left hand, so I gifted mine to my leftie brother.
Hey there, really enjoy the knowledge you share! I am a veteran and I love spending time in the woods hiking and camping. I am in search of a solid 4”+ fixed non serrated knife. Not worried about the weight more so that a good durable blade that can perform many functions. I also carry a folder, saw and hatchet. Would like to stay under $200. Do you have a suggestion or two?
Hi David, thanks for the suggestion! The Steel Will certainly looks like a great option. I'm not a huge fan of N690. Although, for the price, I might check it out anyway. Do you have any suggestions for something with a more premium steel? Thanks again!
As a collector, I find myself drawn to manufacturers who have been producing classic/iconic designs in the same country for generations and offer many affordable models (under $100). Victorinox and Case are very much on my radar. Can you suggest any other manufacturers that meet those requirements? The new intro graphic is great, too!
@@knifecenter Laguiole Honoré Durand look very nice, but are probably a little rich for my blood. I see an Opinel in my future, though. And I agree 100% with Morakniv; I own two, and they are both excellent. Thanks for the reply, and keep up the good work!
Hi DCA, I am looking for a larger Swiss army knife to accompany my fixed blade when camping. I am trying to decide between a plain edge (such as the Forrester grip) or a partially serrated edge (such as the soldier). Which configuration do you think would better accompany my plain edge fixed blade? Love the videos mate, keep doing what you're doing!
Hello DCA, greetings from England 🏴 I most frequently use folding knives for outdoor tasks (it’s illegal to carry a fixed blade here). Being England, the weather is usually damp - so I was wondering whether you could suggest some folding knives that stand up to the weather well without needing lots of maintenance? Open to different shapes and price points. Cheers mate.
kniFAQ: nice intro graphics. Short and funny. Looking for a new USA made traditional folder that will patina with time. I have a couple Case knives, but wanted to see if there are other ones you carry. I like canoes and copperheads. Any suggestions? Both budget and $100+, if available please.
Hey DcA just wondering if you could recommend a spearpoint-tanto knife? Handle doesnt matter too much but bonus points for green micarta or gnarled titanium
I love all your videos. Today's question is what knife do you recommend for my wife. I'm slowly teaching her how useful they can be, but she is still scared at times. I want to give her a good all around knife that is safe. Thanks for your recommendations. Also can the viewers see the face of the guy behind the camera and lastly, what knife are you carrying right now? Thanks DCA.
In order. Spyderco Delica in her favorite color, no :P and I just picked up and am carrying one of Benchmade's new CruWear Adamas folders :) Cheers! -DCA
I'm an electrician I'm looking for a knife that I can cut open bundles of metal material and not destroy the tip or edge when cutting the tape sometimes hitting the metal. Also need to be able to make controlled cuts to strip large wire. One handed opening is a must. Thanks!
Anything is going to take edge damage if it hits metal, but a thick tipped tanto is probably the way to go. Honestly, I'd think about recommending the Cold Steel Air Lite from this very video. Thoughts? -DCA
Hey David, you’re a fixed blade guy. What are some brands that are primarily known for their folders and other types of knives but are under appreciated for their fixed blades? And can you show some examples please and thank you!
Hi mr. David can you point me in the direction of a good ranch/farming knife. I would prefer a folder but not opposed to a fixed. Retrains a good edge and can take a beating.
How about sog kilowatt for the maintenance guy? I'm sure he stripe a wire or 2. For the USA made flipper guy, look for the 7777 bareknuckle in upgraded steel. It's well worth it. It's only 30-40 bucks more and it's well done.
Hello David from Australia! I own a Boos Blades Mini Smoke and a CJRB Ria, I love the small and gentleman like style of both of them. I’ve been wondering is there anything in between them price wise (between $120 and $150 preferably) that is in a stainless steel? Handle material and size aren’t important.
Hey David, I'm looking for a knife and i am having trouble deciding on a new one. Budget is under $200 and the problem i have is my hands. I wear 2xl Mechanix gloves i am having a tough time getting a hard use folder that is actually comfortable for me to use. My EDC rotation right now is the Benchmade 940, Benchmade bugout, WE Banter, and CRKT ceo flipper. They change out depending on where i am going, thanks for your recommendations!
Hey bro. Big fan of your videos. I've been hunting around for a bush craft knife. I live in Australia and just purchased a condor bushlore with micarta handle and wasn't really impressed with the QC. Is there another option in roughly the same price category or a bit more? Thanks
A couple of FAQs ago, you showed a folding knife with an integrated pocket clip. Are there other folding knives that can be held in all 4 directions without any hotspots that have a pocket clip? Or am I stuck with fix blades?
Pest control tech here, I carry a wave plus and an air lite(no tanto for me though)since I have to get into appliances, outlets, chemical packaging, etc. It's a great pairing
I would love see an episode of inside the waistband fixed blades, Brother !
💯💯
IWB carry is the best
White River backpacker with Spyderco G-Clip 3 oClock. My perfect fixed carry. Now in use almost 3 years every day
Underrated and underused method of carry. I honestly don't think I've seen a video (at least from any of the big knife channels) on IWB carry.
@@JustIn-op6oy I IWB carry my old hickory 5.5 so I totally agree it’s underrated
Hey David! I used a sharpening rod from a chainsaw to sharpen serrations! Greetings from Austria and I hope you show us your Edc!

I have had the Bareknuckle for about 6 months now and it quickly became one of my favorite EDCs. Carries really well and great ergos too. Looks cool in that grey color. Thumbs up on the new intro 👍

The Buck sprint pro is an amazing knife. I have carried it for the last couple years. I did have to hammer down/flatten the weird pocket clip down but other than that is has been perfect.
It is sooooo smooth in those bearings
The bareknuckle has some qc issues with the detent. I have tested some that would not open. Make sure you try it out at the store and find one that opens smoothly.
For a edc fixed blade it is hard to beat the esee izula 1 or 2. It is only $50-$60. The 1095 steel is super robust. I have used it to baton small logs.
Great show as usual. You can sharpen serrations be sharpening the flat side as long as there not deformed.
You can also sharpen serrated knives using a Paul Block "Block Sharpener". Works for me everytime.
Oh i LOVE the intro graphic!! Nice work! Funny i found the episode it launched on 👌🏻
Another option for sharpening serrations that I've seen is getting a few dowels of varying diameters from an arts & crafts store (a chopstick also works) and wrapping them in adhesive backed sandpaper.
I can highly recommend the White River Backpacker pro as an EDC and last ditch tactical fixed blade. Easy to carry, good blade steel and awesome ergonomics.
Had the Pro-Lite tanto and it was one of the sharpest knives. Was a great beater knife that could handle almost anything.
I would either go Shaman or pm2 for a step up from the biblio, but that's just me
I couldn’t possibly agree more
KME tapered diamond rod is the best thing that I've found for serrations.
Hi - for the sharpening of serrations, Lansky's Blade Medic (the foldable sharpener) does a very good job.

The fingers fall naturally on top of the lock bar, thus making it very hard to flick for right handers; no amount of lube or hard flicks changes that (maybe tune up the detent?). Turns out it's quite decent if you use your left hand, so I gifted mine to my leftie brother.
New intro is great lol awesome stuff guys
Looks like I'm going the otherway, love my steelwill nutcracker and wanting that ace biblio. Don't tell the wife.;-D
How about belt/neck knives with rotating clips? I have a Outdoor Edge LeDuck, but the 8Cr leaves something to be desired....thanks.
Terry Gilliam would approve of the new intro.
rather than para3, check out the Stretch 2--variety of choices both in blade shape and steel.
Got some good picks right here: ua-cam.com/video/x3BF0N92h4Y/v-deo.html
When will the Chris reeve umnumzaan tanto in s45vn be available
Hi David, thanks for the suggestion! The Steel Will certainly looks like a great option. I'm not a huge fan of N690. Although, for the price, I might check it out anyway. Do you have any suggestions for something with a more premium steel? Thanks again!
My pleasure! Maybe check out the Paramilitary 2 instead. Plenty of options there. Cheers!
The intro was really good!
Opinel, Laguiole Honoré Durand, and Morakniv all come to mind. -DCA
@@knifecenter Laguiole Honoré Durand look very nice, but are probably a little rich for my blood. I see an Opinel in my future, though. And I agree 100% with Morakniv; I own two, and they are both excellent. Thanks for the reply, and keep up the good work!
What would you do to change the knife industry?
Me, I'd say more color. Especially orange and black!
Less sprint and flash runs. Some excellent designs or great upgrades get wasted that way. I know I'm not DAC but I hear that complaint alot.
@@The4cp no I agree 100%
Love the intro! Great job, Thomas!!!!
Do you have any recommendations for one hand opening slipjoints, under 3 inches? UK laws are rather restrictive. Thanks!
I feel sorry for you. Knife laws are utterly dumb and do nothing to actually protect people from those who want to do violence.
Who else thinks this guy is so much better to listen to then the current bladehq guy?
I do
Hello DCA, greetings from England 🏴
I most frequently use folding knives for outdoor tasks (it’s illegal to carry a fixed blade here).
Good new
intro to mix it up a bit.
Keep going your channel help me a lot. In knifes. ❤👍👍😍
Thanks DCA.
In order. Spyderco Delica in her favorite color, no :P and I just picked up and am carrying one of Benchmade's new CruWear Adamas folders :)
Cheers!
Try using a leather strop or a old belt and some compound to sharpen serrations.
Hi mr. David can you point me in the direction of a good ranch/farming knife. I would prefer a folder but not opposed to a fixed. Retrains a good edge and can take a beating.
Buck 110. If you need one handed opening a kwick stud is only $5. It will last forever.
Answered a your question in Episode #23 right here my friend: ua-cam.com/video/2DWCC6tLJ_g/v-deo.html
Cheers!
@@knifecenter thank you so much about to start a job working for a local rancher. Just finished selling the ranch
White River Backpacker/Caper is the thing
Nice Python Flying Circus Intro, Well Done 👏
How about sog kilowatt for the maintenance guy? I'm sure he stripe a wire or 2. For the USA made flipper guy, look for the 7777 bareknuckle in upgraded steel. It's well worth it. It's only 30-40 bucks more and it's well done.
Hello David from Australia! I own a Boos Blades Mini Smoke and a CJRB Ria, I love the small and gentleman like style of both of them. I’ve been wondering is there anything in between them price wise (between $120 and $150 preferably) that is in a stainless steel? Handle material and size aren’t important.
Check out our gentleman's knives vid. Might give you some ideas :) -DCA

Hey David,
I'm looking for a knife and i am having trouble deciding on a new one.
Go bigger and look for things with a neutral handle shape. The Benchmade Presidio II or even the full size Griptilian come to mind. -DCA
Intro needs a jingle 😁
