Thank you for this video, I just got a new NuCamp Tag and I was fiddling with the ball to release (stuck) and was very aware of potential injury but lucked out and unhooked without injury 😂. I realize this was 4 years ago for you but I watch all your videos and appreciate your candor 🙏🏼

Oh my! I'm sure you're well healed by now but thank you for sharing. I also hurt myself the first weekend when I brought home my new to me 2016 T@bitha. It's over two weeks later and I still only have partial use of my right arm. I made a bonehead mistake that wasn't logical but I did it. Thank you for sharing your real life T@b experiences and I hope you're doing well!

OMG I am so glad you are OK. Thank you for sharing. I understand your fear. I am new to pulling trailer myself. Last fall I was taking my new 2014 trailer up to Columbus for service. And as anyone dealing with RV service this year knows getting an appointment is hard. So I had to have the T@B there at 8am a 2 hour drive from Cincinnati so I hooked the trailer up the night before and had everything set to leave in the dark with just a walk around before taking off. When I had hitched up the day before everything went really easily-the first time that I hadn’t struggled. Well that should have been my clue. Took off in the dark got to the top of the hill stopped to adjust mirrors and take a quick look. Everything seemed fine. Got out onto the main road and was just starting down the hill when there was a jolt and hideous noise. I drove around the first corner I could find, to get the T@B off the main road and stopped. The trailer had fallen had disconnected and the jack, which apparently I hadn’t raised fully-I guess was propping it up. I was terrified and didn’t know what to do. It was dark and I was worried someone would turn the corner and run into me. Well now I have flares in my kit. I called for tow service I have Good Sam (they were a bit slow on the uptake-I guess they have their protocols, but really). Once I got off the phone with them I called 911 because I was afraid I was a road hazard. The officer who arrived apparently was an RVer and he understood immediately what had happened and helped me hook it up again which was all I needed other than a new jack and curt echo brake adapter which worked to get it to Columbus but then was toast. The officer showed me a couple of tricks even had me drive around the corner into the light to make sure I could see. I was so shaken that when he was helping me hook up and asked me to back up slowly. He had to tell me to take a breath and that I would need to start the car-good grief. I did drive the trailer to Columbus for its service appointment 2 hours late but I still nervous when I hitch up. So now I hitch up and then rotate the jack down to see if it lifts the trailer and then raise the jack. Apparently, last summer when I was traveling and feeling pretty good about my towing capabilities I was inadvertently double checking each time I hitched up since I could never seem to get the ball and hitch to easily connect and then invariably I would wind the jack the wrong way thereby doubling checking that I was attached. I was so embarrassed and shook up, but not injured and damage was minor. I wish there was 101 course on trailer hookup and safety. Long story short-lessons learned. Glad you are safe now I have to figure out what that sunlight glinting thing is and I may be a bit more nervous and certainly more cautious. Thanks.

Wow, what a story! I am so glad you shared! I did do a video on hitching and unhitching, but we probably spend hours talking about that, truthfully. ua-cam.com/video/xmRINT9v-ME/v-deo.html

I feel like this is the kind of thing that can happen to anyone - feeling confident, knowing what to do, then getting a little sloppy with experience. We've all had those kind of moments! I'm so glad that nucamp was there for you and you're on the mend now! Your positive attitude makes the difference in handling difficult times - I give you a virtual pat on the back for that! Thank you for sharing your experience.

OMG Jenn! I’m glad you are okay, but what an ordeal! Thank you for sharing this. We probably have all “put our hands where they don’t belong” at some point in our travels. This helps us all to not take this process for granted. And you couldn’t have been in a better location - our NuCamp family came through as they always do. Take care!!

Hope you hand heals up quickly Jenn. As for NuCamp and it’s people, there are NONE better! I’m assuming the Nate you referred to who hooked up your trailer is the same Nate that bailed so many of us out of the mud at uCamp 2019. He is one great man! Really nice also if Dawn to comeback and help you out. That’s a true friend!
