In 1990 I was diagnosed with a severe case of Fibromyalgia and told I would never be active again. I was bed-fast for 6 months and able to explore the inner world for the first time. Thoreau was a wonderful guide in that process. I knew I wanted to LIVE, not just be busy. I was able to visit Walden 3 years ago and what a beautiful place it is.
Hi Marcy, Thank you so much for sharing your story with me. I hope you are doing better and able to be more active these days. It must have been really impactful and moving for you to visit Walden after that experience. It is truly a beautiful and meaningful place. ❤️
How lovely! Your love of all things Walden really shows. I can hear it in your voice.
I came to know about Thoreau's writings on `Transcendentalism' issue in the middle of the 90's. But I got a chance to read the book `Walden' in 2010. Finally, I got an opportunity to visit Walden pond in 2016 during my participation in a youth summer program at Baker farm in Lincoln, MA, very near to the pond.
That's wonderful you were able to visit Walden as well! I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did :)
Beautiful, touching video ! It brought tears of joy to my eyes and goosebumps to my skin . I just visited Walden Pond three days ago, for the very first time in my 64 years of life and it was an emotional and joyful experience for me. Thank you for this beautiful video and for expressing your joy and awe at being there, also !
Thanks for the GREAT video, Eileen! Now I finally get to see the park, thanks to you!!!
I'm SO happy we got to visit and share it here! It really is a special place.
To live deliberately! I was captivated, moved, and I took pause. Thank you Eileen and Marc.
Your energy is contagious. I always enjoy your videos whether they be from Budapest, Taiwan or closer to home in Concord.
That drone footage is just magical.
The colours and the light were just perfect. I definitely got the tingles visiting Walden.
Wonderful memories of Walden Pond -- even more beautiful than I remembered! Thanks for sharing, Eileen and Marc.
What a beautiful presentation of Walden Pond! The fall leaves in Mass are gorgeous.
Aww, you seem so excited to be there. I read Thoreau every night before bed. I have read Walden over ten times and have often dreamed of Walden pond. I’ve never been there and expect I would be similarly overcome to stand at the place that influenced so much of my hopes and dreams. I love this video.
Thank you ❤️ It felt magical to visit here. I love that you read Thoreau every night before bed. I hope you're able to visit Walden someday if you wish to. I think you would feel the same.
What an absolute masterpiece this video was... audio as well. Visually stunning and afforded me an incredibly informative vicarious visit. Thank you Eileen. Your work is spot on and amazing. Can't help but think Thoreau would be delighted by it. Kudos and applause.
I read the book many years ago and I love how you brought it back to me with this beautiful video
Some beautiful Fall foliage! Great drone shots over the lake and trees
Great video. I’m lucky to live 40 minutes from Walden and we visit it several times a year. Swimming in its water is a religious experience to me, speaking of goosebumps. I just kayaked the pond for the first time yesterday imagining the whole time Thoreau being out on the pond doing his observations as he wrote about. * The pond was really low in your video. There is hardly any shoreline showing this summer, it’s super high and of course as clear as ever.
The drone shots are absolutely fabulous! So is the rest of the video.
Great video Eileen and Marc! I had goosebumps too
Thanks so much, Will! It makes my heart happy to know you saw this video and enjoyed it. ❤️
Words. cannot. do. justice. to. this.
Those goosebumps in the title...I'll be damned if I didn't feel them.
Great video, I've not heard of this book, need to check it out. The scenery is stunning, easy to see why it was inspirational.
Thanks! It's a wonderful book - I hope you enjoy it. So many beautiful lines. It was really fun to look at where he built his cabin and the view of the pond and try to imagine what it was like while he was writing.
That looks amazing! Fantastically shot and great story and background.
I have read a fair amount of Thoreau mostly in college for fun. Oddly I haven’t read Walden yet. I have my dad’s collected works of Thoreau and may tuck into it shortly. In college I read Civil Disobedience a few times and a Yankee in Canada.
I have been fairly close to Concord a couple times, but not yet made a stop at Walden Pond.
I just love your sweet soul makes my ♥ happy
