The older generation gamers out there, some want to see super realistic graphics, where you cant tell the difference between real-life or game, dont know if that will ever be possible but Sony and microsoft have to keep pushing the graphics and performances of every future console, even if it means the price continues to go up, because lets face it, we arent getting any younger, and some of us want to see super realistic graphic games before we die, considering how long it takes before a new gen console comes out.
I definitely want advances in graphics, I’ve always loved those wow moments when you see something truly stunning like Horizon Zero Dawn or Ghost of Tsushima.
I feel as though this generation is just starting to get into it's stride with games like the PS5's Astro Bot and Xbox's Starfield. I still use my PS4 Pro and Xbox Series S more than my PS5 as there's very little if anything that draws me specifically to it. I need to qualify that I'm a 1080p gamer and have no intention of upgrading to 4K anytime soon. My eyesight isn't the best and I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference anyway. My feeling is that if I was looking to purchase an upgrade during this festive season my money would be more likely to go on the 2TB Xbox Series X for £549 Vs the grossly overpriced PS5 Pro at £800. I actually think Microsoft have got it right this time by just doing a console refresh but only time will tell :-) Keep up the awesome work!
Interesting feedback, I don’t think we have seen devs get the most out of either of the next gen systems and Nintendo are doing a great job of showing how good gaming can be in far less powerful but more convenient hardware. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft come out with anything as there are rumours of a handheld which feels more feasible than a pro device at this point.
My problem is that instead of discounting the base model and pricing this at the OG base price, they went the other way. Also, where are the new games? This year, all we got from Sony is Astrobot (not throwing shade at that but that game isn't a technical showcase). And we don't even know what's coming next year.
It’s a fair point, certainly software wise they have the advantage today in terms of excellent exclusives but the pipeline is a bit threadbare. Although with xbox putting titles like the new Indiana Jones game on PlayStation too they are helping some respects.
@@jaygrice Yea this generation on the whole is very dry from both Sony and Microsoft (although Microsoft has been worse than Sony IMO). We got some great games but the frequency of it is slow. I am glad I bought a PS5 after 3 years it was out. That way, there is good enough backlog and since I've never owned a PS4 before, there is good stuff from there too. That actually made this purchase worth it. Otherwise I can see why someone who owned a PS4 has very little incentive to upgrade or is disappointed with the upgrade.
Most of the gamers who are complaining are just holding other people and technology back, technology must advance even if alot of people are still living in the old gen era, graphics needs to be the best that they can be, performances need to enable the smoothess outcome, anything else needs to be the best it can be and that can take time.
I don’t want to confuse my message for not wanting advancement in tech. I am a technologist in my work life and love new tech. I just want these advancements to feel worth it and I still think the experience doesn’t match the cost on this one. I’m not alone, there is a lot of people saying the same thing.

If you don't want better graphics at higher frame rates, stick with the PS5. If you wanted to build a PC with the same performance as the pro, just the GPU alone would cost you 500 pounds.
Not a PC gamer myself but I know that’s a more expensive space to be in.
if people are willing to spend over $1000USD on a NEW phone every year or 2 then buying JUST ONE PS5 PRO every 8-10 years is nothing. HAve a think about that peeps.
Slight difference in functionality and usefulness. But I get the point being made. I’m not against buying these things but my point remains that it’s about the value vs the cost.
@@jaygrice well, the iphone maybe slightly different in functionality but do people need to upgrade their phone every 1 or 2 years? hell.... NO!!! but if you have the money and you need to show it off to your posh mates then by all means go ahead. But like i said, people only need to purchase this PS5 PRO just once in 8-10 years, thats it!! you dont need to upgrade the ps5 every 2 years so i dont see the harm in getting one.
Upgrade my phone roughly every three years when the battery becomes unmanageable. But I understand and agree with your point.
The Xbox Series X released 4 years ago at 600+ and PS5 at 550+, complaining about newer and newer tech and games costing more is very naive to put it lightly
The series X launched at £450 in the UK…. The exact same price as the disc edition of the PS5… not sure what the argument is?
So the dollar and pound are the same now and weren’t then. Because it was $600 / £480, 4 years ago. They also make a lose on ever console. It’s newer tech you’re buying and at 700 for a console that out performs a 2500 gaming pc. Nothing wrong with that.
The truer comparison would be the all digital edition which launched at £360 in the UK. I am not arguing it’s not value to some, but to me the console is an over priced for the gains it brings to me. Each to their own.

People need to stop with this fanboy labeling nonsense, we are all gamers, i prefer ps because i grew up on it from the first ever ps i had a the og xbox and the 360 but i always prefered the ps, but i do find it harious that the only ones that says fanboy us xbox players seems to me that they hate that its better. But the price is ridiculous for a tiny upgrade and i think you will find that as you call it ps fanboys feel the aame way.
I didn’t say PlayStation fanboys specifically, I agree the gaming world would be much better we all just appreciated the many options we have from the variety of platforms we can play on. I own all three consoles from the big boys and have no loyalty to any of them over another. I have had excellent experiences on all. I think competition is healthy and Xbox need to up their game to put pressure on PlayStation as Nintendo clearly are doing their own thing now.

Ok I looked… but I’m fine. I like the original ps1 grey but I have the ps4 anniversary controller. I was more ps2 and if it was based on that the. I think I’d find it harder to turn down.
I don’t think there will be any fanboys of the ps5 pro. It is ridiculously overpriced and they didn’t even bother dropping the price of the original ps5. This is honestly a disaster and everyone knows it.
The more I’m watching and reading the more negative the perception seems to be. Big mistake on Sonys part.
As shitty as this is of Sony, it just shows you there are serious problems with the industry and we can't get a price drop on base consoles 4 years in.
@judahfalls7704 it’s crazy to me that we are seeing the opposite. Like the controllers going up in price rather than becoming more accessible/affordable.
@@jaygrice I'm not sure how much further they can push consumers before they just crack. I mean what do we have to look forward to for PS6, 1000 bucks out of the gate, and 150 dollar controllers?
@judahfalls7704 they did a similar thing with the PS3 when they were dominating off the back of the PS2. They need real competition and Xbox have fallen so far behind in the last two generations it’s given PlayStation a monopoly.

Too often you cant blame sony for price hike, its sometimes because of the EXCHANGE RATE: not sure if this google search will help or not but here it is:

Adding better ray tracing and better GPU cost money too, it didnt just magically appear and they just slapped it onto the motherboard. They have to find a company out who can make these small chips or whateva you call it these days, to fit into the console and be able to work together in harmony to bring you the amazingly superior PS5 PRO.

2TB of storage on the PRO double the original one, SSD storage is very expensive despite inflation, i remember when they were first introduced to the world, they were extremely expensive, but as the years went by they dropped in price a bit but still darn expensive til this day.
I upgraded my ps5 storage with an additional SSD. It wasn’t cheap so you are right on that front.
retailers who sell you PS5 accessories need to make a small profit too, like gamestop etc. most of the time its out of sonys hands on how much these retailers charge you for accessories or consoles. Have a look at CEX even after 4 years since the release of the ps5 they still sell it for a really high price, slightly cheaper than RRP but still high. Gamestop needs to pay for courier and their employees too.
The likes of Amazon will undercut for sure but Sony increasing the RRP means it gives retailers license to charge it.
Just remember that as a business, you need to includes costs of courier for shipping around the world either by boat or plane ($$$)
True, the world is a much more expensive place over the last four or five years post covid and everything else we are living through.
i reckon the ps5 pro will sellout, just remember that there are alot of well off or rich people out there who like to play games too, including scalpers.
Scalpers is def going to make it hard for the true fans who want them.
Sony retooled their console cover as well as the internal motherboard, these costs money to remake ($$$)
Maybe something gamers will be less interested in swallowing the cost of.

Go have a look a logitechs high end mouse and keyboard, headphones and steering wheel (logitech g pro wheel)
a logitech g pro steering wheel costs $1700AUD inc tax) thats a stand alone wheel (meaning that there is no pedals or shifting gears) In australia, the PS5 PRO will cost $1200AUD (no disc drive), the new iphone 16 pro max (top specs) costs $2900AUD outright.
Tech is getting expensive that’s for sure.
@@jaygrice i think that when tech is expensive then we tend to look after it more and it becomes more precious as opposed to cheap tech, people tend to dispose of it very easily at the slightest damage wear and tear etc. Thats why expensive tech must be appreciated otherwise people continue to take it for granted. Take a look at controllers, how many angry gamers are out there, the moment that get all pissed off at a game, they toss it at a wall and go buy another one because its inexpensive. But now, i dare these gamers to toss a $120AUD controller at a wall. So if they do buy a new PS5 controller for $120AUD, then add that to the total cost of their ps5 console unit and then tell me if they are still complaining about the PS5 PRO cost by then. haha🤣🤣

I didn’t really like it…. Perhaps controversial. I have a couple of special edition controllers but not too many. Scalpers will make this limited consoles a nightmare too. At best I thought maybe the special edition edge controller as I don’t have one of those. But I don’t think my portal or console needs replacing.
just remember that when theres a sale at your local game shop or online, often the ps5 consoles will drop in price just like any other previous gen consoles. The fact the PS5 PRO is not even available to the public yet, so why should there be a drop in the price of the previous model. ITs still an overall powerful console. I guarantee you that SONY will not drop the price of the original or slim but people are gonna just have to wait for a sale, like Black Friday or Christmas or Boxing day or Half yearly sale etc. Retailers have the power to drop the price or keep it the same, its out of SONYs control.
It does make for a perfect pre Christmas drop to get a few more sales. That’s a good point. Black Friday too.
@@jaygrice i think you get the most percentage off when it comes to black friday sales, which means its gonna sell out super fast!!!!! gaming scalpers will aggressively try to purchase them all and sell at double the price.
Im the ONLY one who believes that the PS6 base model will come out between 2030 - 2033, my reasoning is because these upgrades are quite superior changes and to jump to the ps6 in like 3 years is an absurd behaviour, far too soon when theres so many game developers needing extra time to make these superior games to match the superior hardware.
I think other manufacturers will force their hand. Xbox will have new hardware cooking and if they are sensible they will skip a pro like mid step based on how this has gone down. I do think Sony is setting the bar for the next gen though, if people pay then you can bet the new ps6 and Xbox will be up their in price. Maybe after a fairly long time of consistent console pricing (ish) it’s time for a jump. Cost of living and all that.
@@jaygrice cost of living is very important and ive seen supermarkets raise their prices of certain goods and then when a weekly sale happens, guess what... somehow they manage to cut half the price of that particular product, making us raise the question, if this product sells at half the price and still profit, why are we charged double the price once the sale is over, its because they can, perhaps they want to make it a high end product, perhaps theres a high demand for it so the price goes up, or perhaps it has to do with the sharemarket. But at least when it comes to groceries we can afford to be stubborn and refuse to buy that expensive product and choose an alternate one for cheaper without losing too much quality. So my point here is that a PS5 console is considered a luxury item now, and that its not a necessity item in life, with previous gen models alot of gamers took it for granted, we all take certain things for granted in life and so when theres a sudden shock to the system we tend to realise what we once had and for some, those days are now gone. So now we can only adapt to the system gradually and move forward with a bit more appreciation for the finer things in life.

@@jaygrice everything ive mention im talking in general not really towards your video, i read so many comments in heaps of other youtube videos and thats all people do, they like to whinge and complain, often its the unemployed or students or the stingy ones etc you just cant win with people. So many click bait videos on youtube about the ps5 being too expensive etc. theres even a video of unboxing the NEW ps5 pro, which clearly is a fake video but some people are that naive and believe it, hence, making him money from youtube ads. So many shady practices among the youtube community.

superior hardware = longer time for game developers to make realistic game with stunning details.
the older gen consoles had already taken at least a year or more to make a decent game, but now that the advanced hardware means game developers can experiment and push the limits of what this PRO model can do so therefore they need more time to create and test these games for maximum output. Plus they have to test it on multiple platforms too, especially if they all have different hardware specs, whether other platforms are inferior or better.
Do you think that the pro will smooth the transition to the eventual 6 then as developers get used to more advanced hardware? I am old fashioned and really want a new console to instantly deliver brand new experiences I couldn’t possibly have on my old console. But those days are gone and I know they don’t make business sense.
@@jaygrice this move by sony is definitely a transition that will ease people into the new era of gaming as will the PS6, specs can only get better from here but it will carry a hefty price tag. Quality means higher cost. Its like if you go to a fancy restaurant, you buy a really delicious gourmet dish but the quantity is very small but it costs an arm and a leg for this meal, some people may say its overpriced and some may say its worth it for the experience. From this point forward, sony will deliver not just gaming but an experience, the VR2 is a good example of immersive experience.
So to sum it all up of what can affect ps5 PRO pricing:
*exchange rate
*inflation
*paying employees
*paying courier
*paying manufacturers
*paying import fees
*paying GST
*paying retailers
*paying marketing and advertising
*plus sony needs to eat too, so they need to make a profit of some sort.
Not against them making profit, I think my argument is more about what’s missing for the price and how the uplift compares to the existing hardware. It doesn’t feel like value for money.
@@jaygrice for me personally, i think its worth it, in Australia the base slim model is $800AUD, so adding another $400AUD seems reasonable for what we are getting, and extra 1TB easily worth over $200AUD plus ray trancing and GPU for the left over amount which will be $1200AUD when sony releases it on 7 november. So its within reason i feel.

You dont need a PS5 pro if you already have the PS5 slim or original PS5, they all play the ps5 games fine. The pro is only for people who really appreciate superior graphics but wanting fast performances too.
Agreed, I love having the latest tech but I don’t think the benefits of this hardware revision are for me. Thanks for all the comments and feedback and for doing it respectfully. Some really good points.

That’s scary thought! In the UK we would be creeping close to a grand! But if the tech is worth it I don’t mind. Feel differently about the generational changes than 0.5 mid gen steps.
