It was actually do to her manager at the time telling her to take them down when she got serious about singing because it could give her a bad image and make her come off as immature.

@@singarix I just did exactly the same thing man! Had to double check it was the same person for a second haha. Brings back so much nostalgia. She looked so much better back then too 😅
Y'all, stop saying she has been changed and is now just a business. She had a horrible few years as I recall her saying and she probably doesn't want to remember this part of her life.
Man i remember al of these and miss her old videos. I would go back when ever i was having a bad day and watch em over for a pick me up. Oh man that reminds me of her time on breaking on nyc with ray man feels like yesterday
I remember when her and Ray William Johnson would hang out in their video's together. Anyone know if those are posted anywhere? Had I known they would have been taken down I would have saved my own copy for personal nostalgia. (Back when we could easily download UA-cam videos)
@@singarix And she's still allowed to do that and that still matches what I just said. She didn't like her old videos and image, so she deleted it and made a new one.
Aw. Never properly knew Tessa when she was Meekakitty since I only started watching her now so I wouldn't have watched her now unless I liked her now. It would be hard that she transitioned so quickly for some though.
I remember finding Meekakitty videos around 2009-2010, so about the time that this was uploaded. I kind of miss watching through those videos, I loved it, though seeing this now I realize something: I don't think it's mostly her I'm missing. I've seen some comments here using this as a reason to contrast then vs now as the then being the Golden Age of UA-cam. While that may be true in some respects I definitely have seen videos like this, and personas like this, very resently. But I don't connect with it the same way. That's the case with this video as well. It very much triggers nostalgia, but not a feeling of actual connection. So what I find seems more true than missing "her" or "this", at least for me personally, is that I kind of miss being that person that initially watched her content. It's been 12 years. I am a different person, with different experiences and different brain chemistry and connections, now as a 33-year-old than then as a 21-year-old. I hated being who I was at 21, and much prefer parts of "now" to the "then", but I miss feeling so strongly as I did then. But that's not her fault, or the fault of a changing Internet culture. That's just stress and aging, and being another person who connects with different things. Pretty glad that's the case, though. It means I've changed, which indicates I might have grown, and that's good. It's just a bit sad too.
I think she said during a Q and A when touring that as youtube is her job (I think?) she wanted her youtube to represent current her rather than her in 2007.
0:48 Seriously like she used to be the epitome of a manga girl. Nerdy, pretty, clever and readhead. I bet half the UA-cam was sorta in love with her. Uncanny she sold herself like this. It just totally is not her anymore.
Yeah and she was basically the symbol of the award teenager who always said "Be yourself. You are different and should be proud of that." Then she got serious about her singing and deleted her past as if it never happened because it might have hurt her image and even dyed her hair because no one would take a redhead singer seriously.
I have many of the videos Tessa uploaded on youtube since she started vlogging, even some of the earliest ones that go back to 2007 when she was vlogging abroad, probably a couple of hundreds that covered a few years and they're sitting somewhere in a hard drive in my garage lol. I used to be a big fan of her vlogs and collab videos with other youtubers. Her funny videos were very uplifting and helped me getting through a rough time back then. I've grown up and out of it long ago, I still follow her but have a different perspective - I respect her work as a musician and relate more to the kind of vlogs she does presently. For some reason that only concerns Tessa herself, she decided to delete those videos from her channel and that should be respected by not posting videos like this for public viewing without her authorization
Those all videos are still on UA-cam, but privated. It's because she wants to construct a persona of Tessa Violet who is not a model/comedy vlogger. @Alex Victor posted this video when she was still meekakitty.
Her old vids were great because she made them in a style as if she was speaking to you personally. To bad a manager she had (or still has) made her feel self conscious about herself and made it seem like her old video would make her come off as immature.
Celebrities and content creators express these sentiments often, but it rarely goes over well with fans, especially the original fans. There is always a tension between wanting viewers to devote interest, attention, loyalty, and money towards their content, and at the same time trying to manage, and sometimes micromanage and limit, their reactions and access to the content. On UA-cam these issues come up alot, because what began as a personal vlogging site has become a gigantic business enterprise. I would also say that, at least in the US, society has shifted in the last 10 years. I feel like in general people are getting more anxious and less easy going, and that's being mirrored now online.
Does anyone anywhere know where i can find the video of her and another girl doing a video together when they say "ahhhhh crustations!!" Ive been looking for years and its like a cornerstone of me and my friends relationship.
She was such a big part of my early teenage UA-cam years. Such a lost treasure, but happy she’s made a career for herself now :)
I think it's a shame she decided to kill her past videos as Meekakitty. They always felt personal and genuine. They will be missed.
It was actually do to her manager at the time telling her to take them down when she got serious about singing because it could give her a bad image and make her come off as immature.
