Prepare the cord as these following lengths:
- 340cm x 16 cords
- 240cm x 24 cords (The cord used in the video was a bit stretchy, you might consider plus 20cm more each cord)
- 130cm x 2 cords (different color - optional) added are 260cm long

Just a heads up for anyone trying this, go by the cord lengths in the description not in the video, you need 24 of the 280cm not 16 :)

Hi Ankita Phatak! Yes, If making the same size, you are recommended to increase the length and quantity of cords as well. Let me know if anything is unclear! Thank you.
If you’re going from 5mm to 4mm, cut your cords -25% or +25%. I’m no mathematician, so if the tutorial says cut 5mm cord 240 cm long, and I want to use 4mm, I ask Alexa “what’s 240 - 25%?” She answers 180 cm, but I always add 30 cm or so.

Wouldn’t we need 24 cords of 240 cm? You used 12 to make the square knots on one side only.

Excuse me.I’d like to understand that why do we need deferent length for bearing cords and working cords instead of same length as 120cm each?Thank you for answering!
With switch square knots, all the working cords or bearing cords won't change their roles row after row. The working cords always need a larger amount than bearing cords, so by not dividing them evenly, I can save up some amount of cord used.
Btw, please increase the length of 240cm by 20cm more. Let me know if anything is unclear.

Hi, just wondering why the 240 strings are not divided equally into 120? If using alternating knots won’t all strings be used the same amount? Thanks
Hi! For the regular square knots, all strings will be used the same amount. But taking a closer look into Alternating square knots, all the working cords or bearing cords won't change their roles row after row. The working cords always need larger amount than bearing cords, so by not dividing them evenly, I can save up some amount of cords. Let me know if anything is unclear. Thanks!

How much cord is used in total (lenth in meter total)
When I tried making it. There were some long cords and some short. Is that ok? Maybe because I added four more, as I was working with a 3mm cord. So I had two more in the centre and one more on each side. I think we also need to increase the length of the cord?
Hi Roshan! Sorry that I can't give you the exact measurement since I haven't work on 3mm cord for this bag. As estimating, you can cut all the cords as the same lengths as 5mm, but to make sure, you can plus around 20cm per cord. :) Let me know if anything is unclear. Thanks and good luck!!!
@@shesapples4845 but why were some cords longer, almost double than the rest? So the end length was not even. Did I do something wrong? I followed the same pattern of knots. Just, so that I can avoid wastage of cords. 😔
Hi Roshan! Have you finished all the knots? Normally, the spare parts of cords can be uneven, but It's bit unusual that some double their length than the rest. Maybe while knotting square knot, the working cords could be switched, so instead of vertically knotted, they are diagonally knotted through the bag length. If some cords are too short, you can just cut off the spare part of the long cords and add to the short cords (There're tutorial on adding to Square knots when running out of cords). This is the very first bag I am making and I am upset that the video tutorial has a mistake in the number of cord pieces required to make this bag. I wish to know what can be done. I have cut the pieces exactly as per the video at minute 0.32. I am at minute 7.15 now and realised there is a mistake in the number of cord pieces. Instead of 16 pc of 240cm, we need 24pc of 240cm. So what can I do? Can someone help me since I am new to macrame? Thanks in advance.

Can I make this and sell it?
By rights, a free tutorial on UA-cam means you can do what you like with it but I would recommend making a variation of this design to make it your own and then you could sell it. That way you're respecting the work out in to this design by the original creator and also selling something that is more personally yours.
Can I make this bag with 2mm rope?
Hi Sadiye! Yes, you can. But you might need at least double the number of cords using to get to the similar size as the one in the video. Tip: You can adjust the size by adding more or less cords, but the total cords on each side is always divisible by 4. Let me know if anything is unclear. Thank you!

Dear She's Apples, I think you should have made a note on your video that your cord calculations are wrong! I followed your video tutorials exactly and because I watched the video on TV, I did not see the comments. Now I am so many pieces short and I don't have any more rope. What can I do?

Wish I read this, I had to take out one whole side because I didn't have enough off white to make 8 more. So now it has a stripe ine both sides. They should FIX the video.

The End is a little bit confusing!
a little disappointed... I didn't get the same size result as on the video. Maybe I overtightened the knots? I find myself with a bag almost twice as small in which I can only slip documents in A5 format…
Did you use 5mm cord? I’ve confused cord and string before and gotten a much smaller result on a pattern, maybe that’s it?
Thanks for the misinformation, I started to make the bag by watching this video. So ı realised that it is not enough 240×16. Now it is just a waste of time and material.
Hi Dilan. So sorry about that. The cord I used was a bit stretchy and had no core. Depending on the stretch, the softness, core or none-core cord or the tightness of our knots, you might need more or less cord if using other type of material. Most of my project, I usually plus 20cm more each cords to make sure if others use different type of cord. I also got some comments from friends saying that they waste some material because they cut the cords way to much longer than needed, so in this clip I put exactly how much used. Sorry again that your project did not turn out as expected.:(
@@shesapples4845 thanks for your comment but the point is that the amount of the cobs. In the video, it is written that we should use 16 pieces of 240 cm cobs. But actually we need 24 pieces of them. It is the problem. Ofcourse some mistakes can happen, but maybe other people read this and dont make this mistake :) I am looking at my uncompleted work and this makes me sadd :))) because I started this bag according to the amount of the cobs :/ but no offence, it is a really greate job ✌
@@shesapples4845 same happened to me! please change the number of cords for 240cm in the video - you wrote 16 and I also thought I have enough with 100m but now I am stuck! thats when I noticed that under the video you corrected to 24x240cm. Please correct in the video too - it will definitely happen to others and it is quite frustrating! Pity because otherwise your video was great----

@@juliettepapy2930 @Juliette Papy I couldn't buy additional cords so I continiued. I tied just one square knot on left and right for each sides of the bag. I hope I made myself clear. And yes, it is not big enough now, but it looks pretty :) if you can buy cord, ofcourse it will be more usefull.
