RS has been my dream car had a 1.3 when I was 16 illegally and that 25 years ago used to cost around £1 to 2 miles but we used to hammer it kicking in the turbo all the time, then trying to slow down the car would shake itself like mad. Until you been in a RS and felt yourself getting bottled into the seat when you hear the turbo go up and the twin dump value kicking in changing gear it’s an experience like no other car. My mate had a 1.6L tuned and another mate had a 2.0L cossie in his and we never knew the top speed as the 1.6L would go over the clock. I o my remember story’s in the 90’s of people killing themselves smashing into walls at 150 mph in an RS. 5 years ago you get one for 2k to 3k now you will have to pay 20k for one.

Roll cage solves structural rigidity issues of an older car design, independent suspension on the mk3/4, weighs a ton or less stripped, LSD with track day rubber on a dry day and then some decent power = a quick car. If only you could fit 255+ wide tyres like a lot of faster cars run these days to an RS and it would be even faster.
All you guys sayin " there's no way an Escort could beat an Evo or a Porsche " well, a tuned 1.6 rs can beat some older evo's in a straight line once they get traction to the front wheels or on a rolling start. As far as this video goes maybe , just maybe there's a 4x4 cossie under the clean Escort shell which would allow it to be able to race with these supposed unbeatable cars..... the saying goes " old fords never die , they just get faster " all hail the Ford gods, haha 👍

im not even convinced thats a Genuine RS and not just an RS swapped Escort (not that it makes much difference) as the rear spoiler isnt there, and unless its the quality of the video, the wheelarch extensions appear to be missing too.
I think that Porsche is being driven by a 12 year old and I think the evo was just following cars to film them, could have run away from the Escort and Porsche when he wanted, and WTF was that at 8.10, BMW driving like a twat ... as usual
An evo 9 could out handle (he braked after he passed the Escourt on the outside to let it back in shot) and out accelerate any standard looking escort no matter how much the engine was tuned..
