Built in the 1930,with a government grant on condition a cycle lane was built both sides, sadly now neglected with horrendous junctions to cross,Formby Bypass is another 1930 cycle lane as is the Maghull bit of the A59
@ Bit like the East Lancs then; I use the cycle path there several times a month to get to and from St Helens; some dreadful junctions, failed street lighting where the M57 joins the road and at Gill Moss it just disappears. Similarly vanishes without warning on the eastbound side near the Ormskirk Road junction.
I’ve travelled this road many times in motor vehicles but never on a bike and I had not previously seen how seriously bonkers it is.
