What a beautiful version of the song! I can feel the spirit of the song.Sadly, just discovered Joe when he was gone, here in youtube. My hats off to you joe! Rest in peace!
I was very fortunate to attend concerts and royal variety performances and Joe was a true star gave all he had .In gods keeping but like many stars they still shine I for one enjoy his music most days and songs with power like this one I love .
I agree, never met him unfortunately. Memories of his adopted Blackpool. My holidays from 🏴 My favorite was seeing the Greats at the variety, shows. Unfortunately don't make them like this. Unfortunately mostly gone. Joe was my favorite Unfortunately never got the full recognition he deserved, illness got in the way but he never cried out loud
Class singer...easily outperforms higher calibre superlative singers and mimics them better than the original....a real english treasure......a shame he suffered and now he s gone.......RIP Joe
This is a Master Class performance. This is better than Sinatra's version. I am performer in Canada and the USA and grew up watching Joe on Junior Show time growing up in Northern England. I found Joe again on UA-cam and he is unbelievable. It's time to recognize like Don Black the genius that is Joe. Good health Joe I am going to fly home to catch a show soon.
@@jeffreylehew8744 Sinatra's version is forced and his timing is off. Even Quincy ackowledged he was losing his ability to phrase and patience to do multiple takes. Dont get me wrong Sinatra's version is great, but Joe's vocals are great and even his voice cracking slightly at the end of the song adds to the beauty of the lyric.
its nice to see a family member leaving a lovely comment i visited joes gravesite a few weeks ago and cleaned up hes area and i said a few words at the gravesite we were lucky to have met him and chatting to him he sang happy 50th birthday to me it made my night and weekend i will never forget that time joe was a one off talent and a true performer and loved by us all take care and you and your family have a lovely christmas and a happy new year from suffolk
WOW, first time hearing joe L was like Magic! somebody who can deliver d essence of a song.Of course, like sinatra but in this particular song il give it to JOE!!!
Love this song such feeling as usual best ever so sad he died so young at least I got to see him at one of his last performances at yarm had Joe's surname before I married got his autograph at the futurist at scarbrough years ago his security said no joe said il do the autograph was over the moon x
Sinatra? Mel Torme, Vic Damone and Matt Monro all blew Frank into the weeds - and he knew it. Joe hits - and holds - notes that Sinatra would've crashed on. Joe es scorchio!
don't compare him to Frank, 2 completely different singers, Joe is wonderful and a superb singer but Frank was the Greatest and having met Joe I know he agrees,
Many hang the moniker of "The Greatest" on Sinatra but note for note plus style, range, sheer vocal abilty and phrasing...no one out sings Joe Longthorne...no one... and what's more I don't think anyone ever will! Frank was at his best in the early years but blew it in the late 60's, 70's and onward. He rested on his laurels which were incredibly good, BUT...Joe is the Sherry to soup to nuts and Aperitif deal...but even before Joe, I'd take Tony Bennett any day over Sinatra.
don't talk stupid, they are all great singers in there own right and i adore Joe but he is not a patch on Sinatra right or wrong doesn't matter, he is a legend in his own right but not as big Sinatra was,

John Van Katwijk Did you ever have the pleasure of meeting this legend, he beat them all, he was the most gentle, kind, caring, brave, courageous man with the biggest personality, if you never met him you have no right to pass that comment, the man was beautiful inside and out, keep you negative comments to yourself, thank you
Its now 2024, Still listening......
Dear Joe, You were the Music of the World, now you are with God, we will all get together with Him

Thanks for your comments Lois, you can find out all about Joe on his official website if we can be of assistance please get in touch.
Great! Tony Espineli version of this song is also great. Check his youtube videos

Well, at the end his voice breaks now and then...but hey, he's a good singer, just did n't have what the others had in means of personality.
