I wonder if George Pickens is going to be a net positive or net negative over the remainder of the season. Emotionally, he seems to not be in control in pressure situations. Anyone have thoughts?
An important reason that Johnson was sent packing was: his potential (or: "already showing") negative and squad-weakening influence on younger, talented, but also with the issues of 'emotional volatility'/"ego control," such as (as many others seem to be mentioning): George Pickens. Keeping Johnson's "hands" around would have led to: two, bratty children throwing fits on the side-lines and in the locker room (instead of: onky one, just beginning to do that). Johnson's influence was corrosive. Absent him??: and yiu get a passionate, but "teachable," manageable and effective George Pickens. ...and you maintain: a sense of internal harmony & trust, in your locker room (and clubhouse). That is "the basics."
If coach Noll had a problem with players like Johnson all he had to do was to have Johnson get a visit from Mr Greene and Mr Lambert. Problem taken care of. If it was coach Cowher all he had to do was have Mr Lloyd or Mr Porter and again problem solved.
It doesn't take a genius to get rid of a player with a bad attitude. Mike Tomlin loves players like this to use and then dump.
You forgot about Keeny Pickett trade

This guy has a speak impediment
When can we send Nose Pickens packing?
after we win #7!?
Some guys need more maturing than others... the goal is to harness the talent while helping the player grow... you can't cut/trade everybody. 😉
