      Yet Brian still has a sense of humor and loves to laugh with people.....not at them.

    Man, that bit where he played Long Promised Road totally got me emotional. It was pretty random for him to just suddenly start playing that. He's almost like a savant in that way. Like all this music is just in there. And what Jeff said about him missing his brothers. Niagra Falls!

      I saw the Brian Wilson Band perform live in Waterloo, NY, on August 9, 2019, just two days after their lead guitarist, Nicky Wonder, died suddenly while on the tour. So they were all pretty emotionally spent, but they still managed to put on one hell of a show. Both "Long Promised Road" and "Feel Flows" were played, and given places of honor. Brian didn't talk a lot during the concert, but before each of these two songs he introduced them as having been composed by Carl. Blondie Chaplin sang both. You may recall that Blondie was hired as a Beach Boy by Carl back in 1971. Before singing "Long Promised Road" at the concert, Blondie did an acapella chant that went something like "Brother Carl, brother Carl, where are you you now?" repeated several times. It was quite moving.

    Brian : "My favorite song I ever wrote"
    "why do you love that song"
    "what were we talking about which song"
    Hahaha....oh Brian.

    I mean this only in the figurative sense, of course! They are not LITERALLY brothers, yet Jeff has shown himself to be a wonderful friend and supporter of Brian for many years.

    I love this video, great behind-the-scenes look! I especially love seeing Brian messing around with "God Only Knows," changing the octave on every other line- it's cool that he can do that with such a well-known, meaningful song. And I love seeing him play a little bit of "Long Promised Road." I adore that song.

    So Jeff left "The best band in the world" to play with...Mike Love?

    • @75DrummerBoy
      @75DrummerBoy 7 років тому +11

      MIKELIN8 He left because it was too stressful that's why. And Jeff has been loyal to the Beach Boys for over 30 years he doesn't take sides. It's about the music for this man!

      Why was it so stressful...? If its playing live then that doesn't make sense.

      I've known Jeffrey since we first met in 1983 when he was with the Beach Boys. We have stayed in touch ever since. When Jeff joined Brian's band, it was awesome. Jeff invited me to several of Brian's shows over the years. I always looked forward to seeing Jeff at the shows backstage, but I never got to see or talk to him for more than a minute because he was constantly tending to Brian's every need. Jeff was continuously at Brian's side from the time the band got to the venue to when they left the hall and got on the buses. After 14 years, I believe Jeff finally needed a break, and wanted just to be a normal bandmember.....just play the gig and have some time to himself before and after the shows.

      Do you have absolute proof / documentation of the statement you've made? Jeff is a friend of mine. For nearly 14 years, he not only had to be musical director of Brian's band, he had to be Brian's valet and baby-sitter as well. Every show I went to hoping to speak to Jeff before or after, I could not because he was constantly having to be at Brian's side. I'm surprised Jeff lasted as long as he did. At least now he gets to just go and play the show and then do what he wants to afterwards@@jasonsmith6896. If you know something I don't please share. I just can't imagine Jeffrey Foskett being fired from anything....

    This is such a cool (brief) look at Brian and his band before a show - I love his 'living in the moment' and his honesty. But couldn't RS find someone who could work a video camera?!? The lighting is horrible in parts.
