I liked this a lot more than I expected! I’m in the middle of my second rebuild of my 23 year old Patton floor fan. First time was cosmetic.. this time it went caput. 🤞 hopefully I can put it back together (the wire harness came apart from the stator 😫😬) thank for putting this together for us!! Gorgeous fans!!

@@TheSuperFanMan thank you so much!! I really appreciate your help 🙏!! I think there’s a portion that seized up and hopefully still salvageable! I’m nervous about the stator wires accidentally coming apart from the motor but I’m hoping for the best! I also have a 1970’s Westinghouse industrial floor fan that kicks butt with the force of air flow but the engine area gets pretty toasty. Is there anything you’d recommend to keep it in great shape? I hit up the stator with canned air to remove the dust.. but maybe it needs oil? Thank you in advance! I’m really looking forward to understanding how these classic fans work to keep them going strong!! The new fans are pretty much crap. 😬😂

Agreed! It's the motor's varying frequency resonating through the rigid polycarbonate blades. Very pronounced on that fan.

These old fans are a lot more unique compared to the modern fans. Nice collection!
I fully agree! There was definitely more diversity in fan types and designs decades ago.
They are all so wonderful! Like shells on a beach, though similar, each fan is uniquely beautiful.

All the fans are great. I especially like the fans that when they are starting up make the 60hz AC frequency noise I find it weird. Specifically the older fans and the electrohome box fans.
Thank you! I like the sound too, often just referred to as the “start-up sound” among collectors. Most metal fans tend to have more pronounced start-up sounds as the motor frequencies resonate through the metal blades and frame better than plastic.

An excellent video and some great fans! The sounds are so specific too. It’s a shame that the Canadian versions had such restrictive grills. I need to showcase my collection- European, Japanese and US fans!

I definitely agree. I’d also prefer the no music edition from a viewer’s perspective. It seems like there’s a good audience that likes the music edition too, but I’ll keep producing the no music edition every year for folks like us who want to enjoy the fan sounds :)
My future fan collection video is going to be pure sound with a shorter timeframe because I like to group my fans besides each other.

It sounds like your 1915s Westinghouse has a bad bearing or needs oil, you should check it out.
It’s an AC/DC motor fan with brushes and a commutator, which is the source of the noise.
Kinda dangerous the first ones.

Not just you! I agree, especially with a lot of the antiques. They run quite fast and often sound like lawn mowers or a swarm of bees.
