Another interesting thing about the Green Lantern Ring is that its in universe creators put in a weakness after one green lantern used his ring to bully the primitive people of a planet so that anything made of wood can break through a green lantern construct!
@@DrunkenPadawan That was him but he was the first OG lantern who drew his power from The Green which couldn't harm itself and the Green Lantern Rings where based off of his ring. Its just something that's hidden away and never used like Wonder Woman's Hidden Weakness of Loosing all her strength if her arms are tied behind her back by a man.
I feel like the Yalan Gur retcon was ALMOST good. I would have tweaked it like so: 1) The yellow weakness was nothing the Guardians could fix. It's since been established, with Parallax and etc, that GL rings had a for real problem with yellow. 2) While on earth, Yalan Gur found the Starheart (the collection of magic previously held to be the source of Alan Scott's power) and used it to patch the yellow weakness on his ring. So his ring became a hybrid of science and magic. 3) The rest of the story goes the same from there: Yalan started abusing his power and the Guardians introduced the weakness to wood.

best Green Lantern moment for me is either when Hal is told by Parallax, the entity of fear, to give up he told fear itself, "I don't know how", or in Injustice 2 when fighting Scarecrow as Hal he will say "Overcoming fear is kind of my thing" or when told "I know what keeps you up at night" and he tells Scarecrow " Yeah to much coffee and dumb villain banter." He both has the strongest will in the universe and some of the most sass.
5:49 sometimes all you need is a hammer to hit a nail, a fist to punch a bad guy or a beam to blast him through a wall. Youll notice that in all the comics John Stewart is the only one whose cinstructs look like they dont require hopes and prayers to work. Has ever singke bolt washer and screw required.
My favorite power, not character. I needed this cause we are in Tampa Florida and no power trying to survive. Charging things now and this bit of fun is needed it’s been rough. Love you all !!!
what makes the way Jhon fights in JL Unlimited even more frustrating is the fact that in the comics he is the only lantern who conjures the ENTIRETY of whatever he makes, every single pice, every screw and bolt when every other lantern just makes a bridge, because he is that precise and willful in his perfectionism, plus he's an architect so he plans constructions as a profession

That’s why I like the young Justice show they give everybody a baseline level of power that sleep around a normal marvel street level hero. They can do some crazy things, but they usually don’t like the flash is fast but not run around the world in two seconds fast.
Best thing about that movie was casting Mark Strong as Sinestro. If Hollywood wasn't creatively bankrupt, a one-off movie about Sinestro's tragic story COULD be really great and entertaining
You missed one of my favorite newer things a green lanterns power has done it made an amazo robot under amanda waller's control into a self aware being that decided to guard the new power battery
one of my favorite aspects of the various ringwearers is how cutomized their powers look. Hal's constructs are utilitarian and straight to the point, they lack imagination but always serve their immediate purpose. John's constructs are hyperdetailed and meticulously planned out, even down to the nuts and bolts, the sketching lines and the measurements, inside and out of everything he creates. Guy's constructs are wild and unpredictable, oftentimes his ring spews untamed energy on its own, and often tend to be pretty raunchy, petty and off the cuff. Kyle's constructs are by far the most creative, they're huge, often reference pop culture, are detailed and expressive, often just picturing giant sized versions of comic and animation characters.
About crazy powerful characters like Superman or Green Lantern, they aren't really that hard to write. You just put them up against threats that can't be beaten via brute force. Maybe the story is a mystery that needs to be solved, or the goal is to persuade someone to do something. Or maybe the threat is a virus or poison that you can't punch. Or maybe the situation is morally complex and even trying to figure out how to fix the problem is a problem. Perhaps the character's own motivations get them into trouble, such as, Superman's refusal to take lives might put him in a bind in a Trolley Problem scenario. And of course, while it's true Superman and Green Lantern are hard to injure, ordinary folks are notoriously squishy, so put them in a situation where they have to protect a whole bunch of squishy squishy people. Then you have a physical threat, albeit not a direct threat to the hero.
I'm pretty sure the upper limit on a Green Lantern's power is their sanity. Someone sane imagines things with limits. A truly insane person could *actually* imagine something insane but possibe like "infinity".
about the jets. conjuring a jet is kinda Hal's signature move because his father was a pilot who died in a crash while piloting a jet, so Hal is litterally conjuring his childhood trauma to give himself the will to not let any more trajedy happen anymore. similar thing for Alan Scott , the golden age GL, who conjures the train in wich he almost lost his life
For John Stewart the only thing I can think of other than the animation budget is his back ground as a Marine as his lack of imagination beyond weapons and just wanting to shoot his opponents.
A DC characters power level is directly proportional to their popularity. If a character gets popular, they will become more powerful. I can't wait for the story arc where Harley Quinn somehow becomes an Amazon.
The power rings could be interesting, with the charge mechanic, but then it's like you can make like 100 big mallets, or cover the entire sun in a shield.
This is not true at all. Planck Time is the theoretically shortest measurement of time because uncertainty breaks down any measurements smaller. A zeptosecond, shorter than a attosecond, is the shortest amount of time ever measured and a zeptosecond is a lot longer than Planck Time. Edit: for reference an attosecond is 10 to the -18, a zeptosecond is 10 to the -21 and Planck Time is 10 to the -43.
In JL and JLU there is an episode where the Justice League become children due to some curse on the world. In that, John Stewart becomes an overactive super creative kid who makes robots and stuff but can't make up his mind on things the cool stuff he could make and becomes a hindrance to the team. Ultimately on things, he makes simple blasts if he can't think of anything.
"How can batman build a computer that can think faster than the flash" On Batman's side: he understands the speedforce and how to artificially mimic a small fragment of its power On Flash's side: No limits, Batman actually Cant but for the sake of his own sanity flash Limits himself so freaking much its not even funny, He is the original "This is only 1% of my power" meme
Oh yes the Green Lanterns can do anything unless the writer decides they want them to be completely ineffectual and helpless. It's such a disgustingly arbitrary form of storytelling I've given up on it.
In the comics, Stewart's constructs are detailed and have bolts and mechanical parts, while Jordan's are more simplistic and raw, like a giant fist. Kyle Rayner's are more artistic, with a more anime/manga inspired look.
When I hear the phrase "Green Lantern can do anything." I immediately hear Batman's response in Justice League: War. "Except shut up, apparently." That scene is great.
Except Harley Quinn was written early on and then episodes later she was breaking away and becoming her own woman, with Poison Ivy by her side... and that's in Batman TAS where she was invented. So no we can't just have her as the Joker's side kick.
