the amount of confusion and chaos that was in this game makes me feel soo much better about making constant mistakes when i play, this was awesome. Also i cant say render correctly either lol
I don't agree with Tyler not blocking in the turn he dies. I mean: if you want to kill me it's your right to do so, but you are gonna pay as much as possible to do so. I don't think it would be considered spite play
I’m honestly surprised Tyler thinks that’s a spite play. I feel like he’s talked about spite playing and King making before and I agreed with him. Here to me it certainly seems like “cost of killing me is 4 of your warriors”
I'm on the fence about it. Part about being competitive is taking any actions you can, but on the other hand when you're getting hit for that much damage it can only affect your opponent's chances of winning and not your own. It's like what Dylan did, conceding to an overwhelming board-state rather than forcing Briell to attack. Either way, it's not a *spite* play and it's not exactly kingmaking, so I'm cool with whichever course a player takes.
What a great episode. Briell was so wonderful. As soon as she said "Thank you for having me" I did a quick board check and saw that everyone only had nonbasics and I KNEW what was coming.
Y'all are the best. Love keeping in the mistakes and talking about them, I think it really helps make the format feel much less daunting for newer players seeing these videos.
It wasn't relevant for Dauthi, but I see players often handle multiple replacement effects wrong. So in the off chance that someone reads this and learns from it - "616.1. If two or more replacement and/or prevention effects are attempting to modify the way an event affects an object or player, the affected object’s controller (or its owner if it has no controller) or the affected player chooses one to apply, following the steps listed below. If two or more players have to make these choices at the same time, choices are made in APNAP order." Active player, nonactive player is what most advanced players know for questions about the stack. But that's only relevant here if something like a Living Death happens and multiple players have to make decisions simultaneously about replacement effects. In any case, the choice is up to the controller of the affected object. Whose turn it is does not affect who makes the decision.
Amazingly fun game to watch! I feel like a spite play is using removal in response to someone inevitably killing you, but blocking upon death shouldn't be a spite play in my opinion, because then there's no risk to just taking someone out, at least make Cam waste some creatures regardless and make the kill worth it Not even a complaint, I'm also not a cEdh player so I don't know if that's an incorrect take, but again such a fun video Thanks for all the content every week!
Ahhhh, now that Twitter question about blocking as you die makes sense. I'd still block, I'm not giving my opponent extra resources that they've already committed to losing. In my mind that's rude to the other players.
Another great episode in the archive. I can not wait for the Warhammer 40k episode. At least I hope you guys are doing one. Please, for all that is great, do an episode on the 40k precons!!
Tyler has always been my favorite(I love Dylan and Cam as well, just a little less, so please don't misinterpret my comment)but after seeing him call tea "leaf juice" it's cemented now.
I'm kinda sad that Kinnan wasn't here cause I love kinnan (it's my first cedh deck lol) but I'm still happy to see these deck being piloted wonderfully
don't worry Cam, English is hard, when I speak fast I often say "Tree" instead of "Three" lol. I have to actively think about it to include the H, it doesn't roll of the tongue as well as tree does.
My question is Brielle got zealous off the Winona trigger while having kiki-jiki right? zealous target Kiki untapping it and then go infinite with zealous and kiki.
Yeah I'll echo what Martino said. The little OH you hear is after I finally figure out what to take. Already did the math and I know Cam is dead no matter what, can't get another combat if i take Najeela, I'm already in combat and my copies will go away, might as well take dauthi for protection for what Dylan may do.
yesterday I lost a game bc I didnt realized I could bounce my dockside with a spell I stole from an oponent. what I want to say is when do I get a spot in play to win?
Brielle never had to pass back to Dylan because before Cam died she could have sac'd Dauthi to final fortune and then just take an extra turn and win right?
Agree. Magus of the moon is still good. Even if it’s not completely lights out, it’s a huge road block, and if you can pair it with other stax pieces it gets even better
I might be wrong, but when Briell flipped the Zealous, could she not of then targeted her kiki, then tapped that to make 1,000,000 untapped zealous? Or am I not understanding the combo?
@@PlaytoWinMTG So I just ordered the Halloween one. My order should be received Monday? I mean I said to them late Friday night. If you would be awesome enough to stamps the crap out of that play mat for me with the Play to win stamps that would be awesome.
Cam should not have gained 16 life technically, he activated Najeela after damage meaning he doesn't gain life from first combat and during the 2nd combat he would have only gained 8 from the 8 that survived first combat
@@PlaytoWinMTG if I can weaken my opponent as they finish me I'm, going to do it. There should be consequences for actions, even if they are small ones. But specifically in this match, those 4 tokens snowball into 8 / 16 more damage.
You don't have to play. It's Winota. She was a mistake. Look at the top 6 and put one into play? Oh do that for each non human attacker? Oh they are indestructible? Anything else? Jesus.
I'm just saying, after watching you guys fail so miserably at telling Briell how to play her deck, having so much trouble with Voidwalker, and being unable to do math, maybe you guys are less play to win this episode and more deserve to lose? Just a thought :)
the amount of confusion and chaos that was in this game makes me feel soo much better about making constant mistakes when i play, this was awesome. Also i cant say render correctly either lol

@@PlaytoWinMTG play to help (the blooper reels)

Agreed.
100% agree. My play group has always done this and we never view it as BM or spite play.
Just the cost of doing business

The red tint on my board in the first half is because I'm holding an umbrella bc the glare is bonkers. And Dylan totally bullied me into it.
LOL I DID NOT
9:24 Cam only took 4 from winota when its was suppose to be 7. So taking the 1 extra earlier definitely didn't matter
Lightbulb Dylan doesn't exist, he can't hurt you.
Lightbulb Dylan: *bEgIn*
Absolutely loved this episode, I play Najeela as my main cEDH deck and cam embodied all the misplays i've ever made! XD
That Dauthi convo part was hilarious. I could totally see that happening in my play group. Reading the card explains the card.

That thoothless-stich playmat is on another level!

Such a fun game, loved seeing some old favorite decks back in the mix. Najeela and winota pressure the table fast 🤘

"Absolutely not"
xD

I believe with 2 replacement effects the person who’s thing is being replaced gets to choose but it didn’t matter in that scenario
“The art says what the card does”
there is no truer statement in any card game ever
So funny thing is there is not a separate exile zone for each player.
You guys got me sick right before my vacation

Cam's Energy in the beginning...Im Sick..I feel ya :D
Well, first issue: you forgot Rick Steadfast Leader in a human hatebear build.
My question is Brielle got zealous off the Winona trigger while having kiki-jiki right? zealous target Kiki untapping it and then go infinite with zealous and kiki.
She had already declared attackers. Even if she went infinite, those copies would have done nothing
Yeah was thinking the same, but she's already in combat. Still infinite dudes is pretty good value I guess

Do you guys not use life counters in these games? I feel like I've seen a lot of games where you guys aren't sure of the life totals.
Why didn’t Dylan crack his voidwalker to cast Briell’s silence to protect his combo?
Even if had some sloppy play, what can I say, I love the sloppy 🥵. Very fun game guys! Nice edition as always.
I see Tyler with the Gong Fu Cha!
Everyone makes mistakes in magic, even judges, whose job it is to know the rules
Probably should have cast the silence with the dothi before going for it Dylan. Dothi on webcam is really hard tho

jokes on you, I just play Najeela WITH Winota lol
read the cardboard, i swear that it helps to know what the cardboard does
One game I play with ppl someone play blood moon and when came to my turn I turn all lands to colourless
The answer to the title is Minsc, Beloved Ranger.
wait so if both you and an opponent have a dathi voidwalker you can actually exile and play your own cards
I don't think so because of the line: ...choose an exiled card an opponent owns...
what about orvar? best human? best dragon? :D
LET'S GO BRIELL! Love seeing Magus put in work. Nonbasic land hate: it's relevant!

Not saying those would be able to attack as it’s already combat but to become enough blockers for Cam?
Cam wouldn't have survived, he missed the 3 extra signal pest damage on the winota hit :)
Hey Dylan: that playmate you have there. Was that ever for sale?
kinda, its actually our orignal playmat which is up on our site, only I covered it with some custom play to win stamps and stuff

Briell is bad =(
