  • Unused / unissued material - no paperwork - dates unclear or unknown.
King George V and Queen Mary walk down steps to take their seats in large hall (probably Westminster Hall, Palace of Westminster, London). Prince Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII, Duke of Windsor) sits to one side.
A member of the House of Lords speaks - he congratulates George V on his 25th Anniversary - Jubilee. Closer shot of King and Queen. (Cuts in speech). Shot of Prince of Wales gazing at the ceiling. This speech goes on a long time. A copy of the speech is presented to the King. The Speaker of the House of Commons now addresses the gathering. Cut away to the Duchess of York (formerly Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, later Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.) The Speaker presents his speech to the King. King George puts on his glasses and speaks in reply.
He thanks them for their words. He talks about the Commonwealth / British Empire. The shot goes closer. He describes the fears of the time - "these day when fear and preparation for war are again astir in the World."
Shots of the arrival of the royal coach outside Westminster Hall. Views inside as people start to arrive. The Prince of Wales arrives and takes his seat. Shot of Indian Princes. Different angle of addresses being delivered. Prince Albert, Duke of York (later King George VI) sits to the side of his parents. Another shot of Indian princes and Commonwealth Prime Ministers. The King an Queen walk down the length of Westminster Hall past the joint Houses of Parliament - Commons and Lords.
N.B. The UN book refers to this as a speech by George VI - clearly wrong - and also to it being 1936 - Silver Jubilee was in 1935.

A “quiet “ King but one whom supported and ensured the integrity , the history , traditions , values and heritage u;til he died. An excellent King , the keeper , holder and protector of what what was once so fine , a fine country .

The Prince of Wales (future Edward VIII) looks so inappropriate here

I've seen Queen Mary with lorgnette before, but I didn't know King George wore pince-nez.
