I heard the same thing... And tried it! Just got worried that it was affecting my heart somehow (don't know why I latched on to this) but was thinking that high fat meant clogged arteries... And with the stimulants increasing blood pressure I assumed it was a bad mix. Try juicing man... Taste like ass but chug it and it really does help!
I tried it... for about 6 weeks... fell off the wagon because my husband and son eat out fast food too much! I have so many books, so many supplements, yet its hard to get back on track! Ugh! I was hyper focused on it in the beginning... I LOVE to research.. bit putting into play... that's the hard part for me. Should I seek treatment for adult ADHD? I dont know how to go about it.
Talk to your doctor :) that's the only real way to go about it! I understand that feeling though lol, I also love doing the research and struggle with the follow through :(
the only thing that has worked is keto. Brain fog gone, racing thoughts greatly reduced. I eat this way because the ADHD drugs though effective, numb me out mentally and when they wear off, look out sugar. My brains love the unrefined oils, hemp, coconut etc. I have been poisoned since childhood, suffering through pronounced mental health issues. Keto is the key to my ADHD. Living with bipolar as well, I feel that it keeps my moods level and positive. I look forward to waking up and hitting the ground running. Love the food and zero cravings, they are gone. Former sugar addict will be staying on this from here in. Off the Vyvanse, on Keto.
That's great that it works so well for you!! It really is an amazing diet for improving mental health because of the clearing of the brain fog! That's also great that you can use it as a complete replacement to your medication too! A combination of both works better for me personally but it's really positive to see how great it works for you :)
Me with ADHD and Deborah Joyce, I always felt so isolated before reading your comments. I wish we could all have a nice cup of coffee together. We are a rare breed of people lol
Another thing to consider is that meat is high in Tyrosine, which is the precursor for dopamine and it's been said that supplementing on this amino acid alone can replace any ritalin. Great video, thank you :-)
Makes sense. I’ve been doing Keto for over two years and I just now got diagnosed with ADHD. I wanted to stop a few times but it always made me feel so good while doing it. Ketones just made me think more clearly.
I love keto. Something I've learned is that once you're adapted, it's ok to have some healthy carbs (like sweet potato) or a small slice of cake at a social gathering like once a week. It doesn't need to be 100% all the time, just close to it. I think people don't realize that and that scares them away.
I feel like the eating cake/sweets once a week can be a shock to your body, and kicking your body out of ketosis HARD. I think fruits once every month or two would be better for the mental and physical benefits. Remember, protein is used as carbs when you eat carbs, giant insulin spike!
Yeah, 2 years later, I agree. Once a week is a bit too frequent. I did mean like, a VERY small slice of cake or like, 3 grapes. Not even worth it. But, a tiny slice of cake once a month to satisfy people at a social gathering shouldn't destroy you.
I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 5 and have struggled with it my entire life. Can't concentrate, start projects and can't finish them, hard to listen to people talk without my brain wandering, time management, etc. Glad to see that this has really helped you. I took Ritalin as a kid, but it made me feel like a zombie. I'm really thinking to start this diet and start exercising again as well, as I have gained a few pounds. I've been feeling so tired and sluggish, and find it difficult to do anything anymore. Thank you for your video. It's really great to see someone else who has ADHD succeed wit this. It gives me hope. :)
Been hardcore keto since March of 2019 and it's been a godsend! I'm transitioning to carnivore now and feel even better; concentration, focus and regulation of emotional highs and lows has improved even more than when I was keto. The less carbs the better!
I can tell a huge difference in my brain function and energy levels when I am following keto vs when I am not. I have a really hard time sticking to it though. I tend to do as you said and do spurts of hyper focusing on it and then it falls by the wayside.
That's good that you feel an improvement though! And it's almost better to do it in spurts because you don't get completely over it and move on then! My wife also does it in spurts and it works really well for her :)
carbohydrates for some very weird reason give me this constant high and tiredness feel. since I switched to keto/low carb diet, my focus improved so much also my adhd downsides have basically reduced a lot. keto really worked for me and i recommend anyone try it not only for weight loss but also for the mental clarity thing :)
High likelihood of ADD here. Keto made me feel like a normal person for the first time in my life. With that said, it was only a month and it was during lockdown, so I don't remember how well I was actually doing when it comes to social behaviour etc., but I distinctly remember much less anxiety, much more energy, and less depression.
As someone who has a lot if experience with low carb, any period of fatigue is very short lived. There are many benefits to low carb, high fat and its a great diet for everyone not only people with adhd.
I imagine this is partly to do with the gluten connection and inflammation in the body that people with ADHD and Autism are prone to. Another diet designed for both these neurodevelopmental disorders is the casein-gluten free diet. Something in gluten kicks the immune system up and causes inflammation in those with these conditions. Very interesting.
Are ppl with adhd prone to inflammation from onions? If I eat any the next day it’s hard to get out of bed it’s like I was hit by a truck swollen and in pain everywhere

I've wanted to go keto in the past but found it too difficult to maintain due to hunger, inconvenience, and carb addiction. I've just taken my first dose of Elvanse and I've not been hungry today since breakfast. I think i might have just found a hack to be able to maintain keto! Tomorrow I'm going to have egg, bacon, avocado and mushroom cooked in butter for breakfast. Then I'm not gonna eat for the rest of the day. I think this will get me into the ketosis state I've been looking for so that when i take a medication break i am not absolutely STARVING and suffering. Thank you!

You have to be super strong with the kids when they scream for that sugar addiction...just keep explaining to them how sugar is a big secret lie and is really evil and taking over everyones minds, and you have guys have to fight it to be strong, and explain how the superheroes all eat keto and the villains eat carbs... it will be the best gift in the end you can do and give him, and dont discuss it with the other ignoramus carb infected parents either who poison their children daily, because they're addiction like a person on drugs and wont understand or try to, if not their own want and desire to change...you cant convince an addict, they have to make their own choice, but you can parent a child. OH!, and you MUST purge the entire house of ALL carbs too...and good luck with the school lunches... kids will find a way to get sugar outside of home like and addict, so you must keep making positive examples of how keto is true and makes you stronger better faster smarter.
I‘m Italian, I live by my own but my family would disown me if I stopped eating pasta and pizza haha How do you deal with that when eating out / family dinners etc?
Haha! Well I eat cauliflower base pizza and you can also have zucchini noodles instead of pasta if that helps 🤣 it's not too bad when I go out because I can eat tons of fat, so I can just get a burger from anywhere as long as it's lettuce wrapped, I can also eat red meat so I get steak and veggies (brocolli or asparagus)
Eat at places where they sell roasted meats. Chicken wings are usually available everywhere. Also pick a meal that has meat or fish in it but ask to swap out the carbs for salad or keto friendly vegetables instead and cheese.
I find this video the funniest thing because when I look up ADHD for keto like for my anxiety, I’m thinking oh it’s gonna help my ADHD be better not can I focus on the diet so I didn’t even think of the way he’s talking about with ADHD 😂
Fat is what our brain made of. When it needs stimulation we use sugar but if we need to heal it we need fat. Our brain works 24/365 and burns a lot of fat. So keto sounds great!
I’ve been transitioning to keto for just over a week and have added adhd happy supplements for just over a month. I have to admit the change is a revolution- or is that psychosomatic?😅 I’m still having some challenges with executive functioning but it seems to be working.
Hey dude I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 5 years old in the uk. I have been on Ritalin and other medications but I dislike the side effects. Aged 17 I stopped taking the medication and I was a mess. Thought I had myself somewhat under controlled but I’m a real mess. I watched the Netflix video the other day and thought it was amazing. Im now 21 and I want to take charge of me. Just wondering how you got started mate. I don’t know how to start, the grocery’s shopping and then to what I should be eating everyday with nutrients etc to remain healthy. Any help would be appreciated. Subscribing now!
Best thing you can do is watch videos and research.. A LOT. You don't want go ZERO carbs at first, you need to ease into it. Slowly lowering your carb intake until you get to a point where you are eating no more than around 20 carbs a day. Make sure you increase your salt intake, along with fiber. I suggest a Psyllium Husk Supplement and Pink Himalayan Salt. There are many UA-camrs that will teach you so much on the Keto Diet. Try Thomas Delauer. Good luck!
Jeff is right! I researched on UA-cam then I got a keto food app, put in my weight and age and it gave me macros to follow, and I just went from there :)
I started vyvanse recently and I've been on keto for 3 weeks ish? It feels like vyvanse hasn't been working properly since. I take an extended release tablet and I crash pretty quickly. Maybe vyvanse isn't the best one for me.... I haven't had this burst of energy that everyone talks about. I really want it. I wonder if vyvanse is interfering with keto or vice versa??
Of course! Thanks for watching! :) Ermm I usually eat bacon and egg bites from Costco for breakfast because they are a good keto breakfast :) and I usually take them at the same time as my medication because xr takes like an hour to kick in
Me with ADHD Thanks so much! I’m going to give the keto diet a try. Do you still take breaks from medication on the weekend and does coffee help with that? I’m new to my ADHD medication and trying to find what works best for me. Thanks 😊
No problem :) it's a good diet! It helps with ADHD a lot and also it helps with weight too which is a bonus for me 😄 I do still take breaks every other weekend when I'm not doing work. Not taking it makes me feel a little tired so yeah coffee helps, and it makes coffee feel like a treat too which is awesome 😀
I have a few keto recipes as staples but I found keto all the time was too much cooking and too much fatty things to taste. Having some carbs at the right times is best for me. I eat a lot of veggies too.
You mentioned you were on Adderal, May I ask at what mg/day? Are on both KETO & Adderal? You remind me of my 19 year old son....could you give me what you eat in a typical day? I have purchased several KETO recipe books and they are all relatively complicated....my son is very picky. I am a single mother that wants to be able to come home from work and make a dinner that is easy and something my son who has both ADHD/Celiac Disease could actually make himself. You remind me of him with what you have said. I was wondering what your thought are? Very informative video by the way
Hey! Yes I am on both adderall and keto. The keto diet can be easy once you start to get the hang of itz but it can be a little expensive though.ci eat a lot of chicken thighs and legs and wings, also ground beef, and the vegetables I eat are mainly asparagus, brocolli, cauliflower. I buy pork rinds and cheese, and keto ice cream and chocolate to snack on too
Tammy Mills Hi ! I’m glad you’re doing this for your son, I have started the keto diet only 2 weeks ago, the first week is the hardest as the cravings for sugar are really strong, you also get sugar withdrawals but these are mild! After that you get to feel very good and relaxed we could say, less thoughts on ur mind and just what’s in front of you, high mental clarity. For food I recommend keeping it simple, 75% fat, 20% protein and 5% carbs max! Keeping carbs under 25g a day. There is research that if the body needs sugar then it will produce it from protein on its own :). I do 15g pecans, 10g Brazilian nuts, 10g pumpkin seeds, 25g blue berries, 90% cocoa chocolate (2 little bloques), 2 eggs, bacon, and whole avocado everyday as snacks. I drink unsweetened almond milk if I need to, and everything else has to be high on fats and I prefer to cook with MCT oil. These include high fat beef/pork/lamb/chicken (with skin). I also recommend lots of leafy greens every day as these have potassium and magnesium (electrolytes). Fruits are an absolute no except for berries. Fats like these are fine at the beginning, and recommend refining them and always opting for good fats as you progress in the diet. Lastly, heaps of water! I recommend you jumping on this diet with your son, it is indeed the best decision I could have taken in 2020, my appearance is much better, and people have already noticed... All the best ahead 💪🏻
I take adderall, but stimulants are appetite suppressants, on medication I don’t feel much hunger and have to make myself eat so I don’t have trouble focusing
I am new to your channel and your videos has helped me alot to understand my adhd diagnosis.
Cheers for the heads-up on the Netflix Flick...The Magic Pill.
And thanks for sharing your story.
I‘m Italian, I live by my own but my family would disown me if I stopped eating pasta and pizza haha
How do you deal with that when eating out / family dinners etc?
@@MewithADHD I always thought opening up a keto restaurant chain would be profitable.
Now would be a good time ;) keto is super popular these days!
Eat at places where they sell roasted meats. Chicken wings are usually available everywhere. Also pick a meal that has meat or fish in it but ask to swap out the carbs for salad or keto friendly vegetables instead and cheese.
Plan ahead, read the menu online and figure out what your best options are. It is doable. Eating real food you cook at home is the best option.

Thanks! Do you have a channel? Nice to see a fellow tourettes person in here! :)
@@MewithADHD of course & I have 2 actually 😊 This one which I'll be posting soon & *Eilish Miller* 💕
I find this video the funniest thing because when I look up ADHD for keto like for my anxiety, I’m thinking oh it’s gonna help my ADHD be better not can I focus on the diet so I didn’t even think of the way he’s talking about with ADHD 😂
Do think anything has changed in the last four years Chris?
When doing keto or carnivore, when you cheat on the diet and consume lots of carbs do you tend to see those ADHD symptoms come back?
Fat is what our brain made of. When it needs stimulation we use sugar but if we need to heal it we need fat. Our brain works 24/365 and burns a lot of fat. So keto sounds great!
I’ve been transitioning to keto for just over a week and have added adhd happy supplements for just over a month. I have to admit the change is a revolution- or is that psychosomatic?😅
I’m still having some challenges with executive functioning but it seems to be working.
Me with ADHD you know what the app name is? Thankyou
I use total keto diet, but I'm on Android I dunno if it's as good on iPhone, but there are other keto apps for iOS
@@ReaIistik you still need carbs but complex carbs
I started vyvanse recently and I've been on keto for 3 weeks ish?
It feels like vyvanse hasn't been working properly since. I take an extended release tablet and I crash pretty quickly. Maybe vyvanse isn't the best one for me.... I haven't had this burst of energy that everyone talks about. I really want it. I wonder if vyvanse is interfering with keto or vice versa??
Thanks so much for your videos! They help me so much. What do you eat before you take your ADHD medication to be most effective?
Me with ADHD Thank You for all your doing for the ADHD community!! Keep the videos coming. Well done 👍 👍
Thank you :) that means a lot!!! Thank you for watching my videos! 😊
I'm not trying to LOSE WEIGHT.. I'm trying to GAIN WEIGHT!!!!
I have a few keto recipes as staples but I found keto all the time was too much cooking and too much fatty things to taste. Having some carbs at the right times is best for me. I eat a lot of veggies too.
So keto is not enough to stop medications? I was hopeful I could stop honestly I hate taking those pills
How much difference did Adderal make?
Hello I started today for the first time 20 mg I already feel thinner is that normal? How many milligrams do you take?
I take adderall, but stimulants are appetite suppressants, on medication I don’t feel much hunger and have to make myself eat so I don’t have trouble focusing
I’m keto think better on keto but can’t get good sleep on it
This is diet used for dietic and adhd
I am new to your channel and your videos has helped me alot to understand my adhd diagnosis. I have tried concerta and ritalin uno for my adhd and they did not help me at all, but now i am on my first week on attentin 5mg in the morning and 5mg at lunchtime and im getting a really good results from at work, but on day 2 i got really tired at around 3 oclock and sleepy, is that ok or should i consult my phyciatrist on upping my dose to 10mg twice a day?
Hey! Thanks for watching :) I'm glad it was able to help out! I wouldn't make up your mind from one experience of being. Tired. I think you might want to give it a week or more to really allow yourself to get I to a rythmn yanno? :)
@@MewithADHD ofcourse, I keep you posted 👍😉 I experienced a great anxiety from taking concerta and ritalin from day one but on this meds I havent experienced it so far, I am hopefull 🤗
Thanks! :)
Thanks for no ads!!! Also why do Keto, it is too hard, make it simple and do Carnivore, it is better for ADHD and many other things. Simple STOP consuming ALL Carbs, Sugars, PLANTS, and Processed Foods!!! Thanks
Keto is what I found worked best for me when I did it, also I saw recently that studies have shown the carnivore diet is actually bad for you
Eat lots of approved veggies and add avacado to your bacon and eggs.
Keto and Carnivore for the win. Healthy and proper food for a human

Sugar, salt, oils, porn. Adhd have to avoid it all. Well, we need salt, but don't over do it
Bro your channel is slept on for real. Great quality.
Thanks man! I appreciate the support!
