Communication Equipment Could Save Your Life!
Every year, we are contacted by families and businesses who have experienced a disaster or emergency and found themselves unprepared, out of communication, and vulnerable. We hope to educate people about the importance of being prepared and how CB Radios and other communication equipment can literally be a life saver.
As we saw with Puerto Rico in 2017, when hit by Hurricane Maria, communication infrastructure had been destroyed and people across the island were stranded without means of communicating with emergency services. Having your own communication system, such as a CB system, that's independent of infrastructure like telephone lines, cell towers, broadcast radio, and TV, is critical during such an event.
Common Misconception: "If a disaster strikes, I can just use my cell phone to contact emergency services and my loved ones. I don't need any other communication option."
Truth: If communication towers and infrastructure are damaged or destroyed, your cellphone will likely not be able to connect with emergency services and/or your loved ones. CB radio systems don't rely on towers or other infrastructure to communicate with others.
CB radio systems can provide essential communication between families and Emergency Responders.
Another reason why CB radio systems are so essential during a disaster is because Channel 9 is scanned by police and other emergency services to receive emergency communications regarding accidents, medical issues, and other emergencies from citizens like yourself. Many CB radios also include NOAA weather so that you can get important and critical weather updates and information. Read more in our Help Center!
There is an article in our Help Center that talks about different types of disasters and survival communication.

To make things a bit easier for you, we have some product recommendations listed in our Help Center - we selected products that are easy to set up and install so that you can communicate quickly in an emergency situation. We have also included some other useful communication products such as Two-Way Radios, Police Scanners, VHF Marine Radios, & Weather/Hazard Radios.

    We can help you. #cbradio

Hi, hopefully you are still active. I can't seem to find any info online. I have a uniden PRO 520xl sitting on my shelf and im not sure if it will even be useful as I think it is a AM cb. I have a uniden uh5000 as my current uhf but that is a lot newer than the 520. Will the 520 still be heard with my newer uhf?

We are absolutely alive and well!
Those radios operate on different bands and would not be able to communicate to eachother.
The Pro520xl is a CB radio and will communicate on the CB Band 26-27 MHz. The UH5000 looks like its in 67-250MHz.

Also you have a longer range then the comms such as SENA Bluetooth halment comms. Is there any Aftermarket receiver and transmitters?

@@wearecb I've tried that but nothing shows how to do a co phase setup with the permit stud mounted straight to the coax

@@nikostathopoulos4371 Follow the directions and apply them to both antennas. At 3 or higher you generally have a larger issue such as a bad ground or a short.
Be sure you are storing your coax correctly. Follow the directions accordingly on our website at the link provided for both sides of the antenna system.
People use dual antennas because they co-phase, changing the radiation pattern by forming two overlapping figure eights, thus increasing transmission strength to the front and back. This is a benefit because CB users usually want to talk to those in front or behind them rather than to quickly passing oncoming traffic. Dual antennas offer some help to signals by dividing the SWR (see " What is SWR?") in half, cutting down on transmission noise.
When installing two antennas, they should be about six feet apart. To avoid reflected radio frequency (RF), they need to be no less than 1/4 wavelength apart (102"). Both antennas require sufficient ground plane, grounding, a sturdy mounting hardware and good quality coax.
