I have enjoyed your previous videos on making your Yaga Yaga shawl and I love how it turned out. For the stained glass inspired shawl the crab apple red gives it a more stained glass feel. I usually gravitate towards rich greens like the jade one, but in this case the primary color of the red seemed better. Thank you for sharing all your lovely ideas, Gary!
👋 Gary! You are SUCH an inspiration. The completed shawl is just a---masterpiece. The peacock shawl pattern will be gorgeous no matter what colors you choose. Have a great day! 🌞
Anyone who can knit Stephen West patterns is a Yarn God/dess in my estimation, Gary! Both shawls are stunning and breathe a sense of luxury whether in stitch design or colours. Since I’ve already had to lift my jaw back into position after the crocheted piece, I can say I am looking forward to the stained glass shawl with great anticipation. My personal colour choice would be the red… always RED! Like Bag-o-Day, I love a good red!
Hello Gregory! Thanks for the help with the colour choice for the stain glass project. I also like a good red and it feels like I've overlooked that colour for too long. Seeing it's one of my favourites on the colour wheel.
Wow! That shawl is absolutely gorgeous…so elegant! I can see a bride wearing it! I think I’d use the red..I think it would really make the project pop!😊
In the last mood board, I would definitely add the red. For me those colors are more exciting than calming. The first shawl made me gasp-exquisite!!!❤❤❤
I loved watching you present your mood board and explaining the thought process behind your choice of patterns and yarn. You had so many beautiful colors chosen for the Stained Glass mood board. You asked which color we were drawn to between the red and green, and my vote would be the red! It would be just the right color contrast needed with your color palette. Can't wait to see what everyone does for this fabulous project.
Enjoyed watching you show us your Spring CAL mood board and the projects that correspond with them. I particularly like the stain glass board and the yarn and pattern you are planning to use for the make. I think the red goes beautifully with the other colors you picked…as opposed to the Aqua. Can’t wait to see all your makes and the participants’ makes after August.🥰
Those diamond with crescent moon tiles would make a great pattern for a wrap or throw! I love the plaster casts, and the accompanying shawl fit's the theme ~ gorgeous! And the wrought iron mixed with designs from the Master Architect. Thanks to Creative Gary for sharing his clever design ideas ~ so much beauty. That stained glass shawl - I can't wait to see your colors on that! Ahhh, these feed my soul.
Your shawl is beautiful, a work of art for sure. The patterns you chose for your next projects are going to be beautiful as well. You picked lovey colors of yarn for them. I look forward to seeing your progress. 🧶💜🙏🏻
Really enjoyed participating in the Spring24MAL. Hoping to be more adventurous🤞 😊 . Can’t wait to see all the beautiful work that will be created from this exciting project. Thank you 💕
Thank you for participating in the Mood Board Spring24 MAL! The summer one has some amazing entries submitted and it's always surprising to see how different each one is.
That Hobi yarn is amazing! I absolutely adore browns and pink/ rose/mauve-ish colors. I would order that in a heartbeat but I am not sure if I have the patience for the loose strands. Your boards and projects are just outstanding. Your finished shawl is breathtaking.
Hi Gary, your shawl is absolutely gorgeous. Love all the yarns you picked for your mood boards. I love the crabapple, it is so beautiful and would go nicely.
Love the architecture pictures. 😍 Your Novela shawl is beautiful and so big. 😮❤ I looked at the Akt 3 pictures on Ravelry and was blown away by the colours that they chose. Looking forward to seeing that FO.
Oh my goodness Gary, that yaga yaga shawl is absolutely stunning! I wish I could follow charts. Oh my I do believe my heart my have stopped beating for a moment! The red is beautiful and red is one of my favorite colors in stained glass.
Yeeey, the MAL is here❤❤❤. Love the new theme, architecture and your boards are really inspirational and beautiful. I'm working on a shawl right now and it just happen to be perfect for one of them...what are the odds🥰 Thank you Gary and have a great weekend!
I notice your lovely knit sweater vest…western Canada must be still chilly, perhaps? It’s the end of the first week of June in Colorado and we just put in our air conditioners…with 90 degree days I’m in shorts and t-shirts as I create and garden. I love your mood board idea and your patterns you chose to go along with your theme. I also paint and draw with mixed media…I love your use of color and pattern! I don’t have the time for your choice of media, but I so enjoyed your presentation. Thanks! 🎉❤🎊
Hello there - We're not quite there with summer temperatures yet. Not too longer though. I love reading about your other crafts - we have the mix-media painting in common (I used to do that in a past life - in my 20s and miss it plenty!)
The first shawl is a work of art! Beautiful!!! The rest of your projects r just mind blowing. I cant wait to see the stained glass shawl. I am excited to see everyone's mood boards. I will not be participating in this one since summer is my season to hang out on the beach. lol Have a great weekend.

Ok, I have watched this 3 times already. So rich with delightful information and beauty.

For me, I would choose the crabapple. The color seems to be what always gives stained glass it’s pop.
The crabapple is most definitely the winning vote - thank you for helping me out!
Love watching your creative process, Gary. Pure talent!

Agreed - not too much red or the greens (both colours in small quantities throughout).

Crab Apple, definitely.

I would use the crab apple over the jade.
Perfect choice!
I would do the red/crab apple not jade, goes with the red in the variegated one
You have done a lot of work with the mood boards.😊😊 is that how you plan out your projects? It is a great process. Thank you 😊😊😊
Hi Terry - I do have a sketchbook that I scribble notes and drawings down in and that helps me retain the ideas. Only on the odd occasion would I mood board for a project, but I'm starting to think a collection of mood boards might make a nice coffee book for home.
Hi Gary, I am always amazed at the beautiful patterns you find! And I just recently rediscovered my love of charts, so I have those Polish patterns in my cart lol. I LOVE the 2 patterns you showed from them.
For the stained glass inspired one which is gorgeous BTW, it makes me think of melting stain glass. But I would actually not choose either the Jad or Red although both beautiful. Thanks for the colour suggestions - this does sound wonderful.
Charts are so helpful when dealing with a designer that may write patterns in a different language - the use of the symbols bridge that gap.
I am glad you like my suggestion. Excited to see what you decide to do for that shawl
I hope you don’t mind me asking you this but what is Scheepjes yarn like to use?
Hi Crocheter1979 - That's a very difficult question to answer seeing Scheepjes has so many collections of yarn within it's brand name. I've not used all of them, but the ones I have used I've really liked.

Hello friend,
The steps in creating the mood board is to take photo clippings of architectural details from places you have a emotional connection with. For example if you love the dining room of your own home, take a snap shot of the light fitting, the bay window, the reading nook to add to the mood board. When that's done, choose a keyword to express the feeling (perhaps togetherness, joy, etc). It's all about the space and the architecture that you're recording to evoke the emotions. Then with your make - pick the colours from the mood board and/or the things that may translate into a pattern. (eg. Your dining room is a home from the 1970s and there's a crazy patterned wallpaper - you may find a pattern that looks like that wallpaper). I hope my description helps with the steps in the make along, but let me know if we need to chat more about it.
@@urbanyarn I will give it my best shot
@@cheryl-lylbaldr4560 - I’m sure whatever you do will be stunning and I will be honoured to add it into the slideshow.
I'm confused. Can I be the architect or do I have to use architectural themes? Spiritual or tactile?
Hi there - you're choosing images and photos of architecture. It can be the details found in places you visit and the designs within the space - e.g. tiles, archways, staircases, fixtures etc. and then choose the feeling that you get from visiting them (put the "feeling" word on the board).
