I noticed a common thing for people to do in the US is run an additional power outlet (usb not lighter) to/under their rear view mirror and connect GPS's or radar detectors under the mirror as well with a mount. Saves a lot of annoyance the you can have in a vehicle due to poor outlet location and it's relatively simple to do with some common knowledge all tho you can have it professionally done. Easy way would be running power/converter from the fuse box (under the dash to hide wiring) than throw the support arm of the windshield and under the cloth top to the mirror and either super gluing the USB port there or zip tie it down to the rear view mirror bracket. Get yourself a 3-4 inch power cored and everything looks nice and neat.
This is one of the Sat Navs I am thinking about buying to replace my ancient TomTom One. As far as I understand the blurb about it, the DriveSmart models have more features than the Drive models, and the LMT D models use Satellite signals for navigation plus digital signals (DAB) for traffic alerts and other information, while the LMT S models only use Satellite signals, and need to be connected to a smartphone to get digital traffic updates. I think the DriveSmart ones have wifi built in for updating maps too. Thanks for the video, it's made it clear that this Garmin sat nav is better than the TomTom I was thinking about.
Thank you for your time ..I have just brought this satnav ...I love it..my old garmin wouldn't up date as I had neve updated new roads but now I know that you have to do it every 4 months or so I will be doing it..i love the voice command on this its great, well I still have a lot to learn about it but once again thank you..
On initial connection to a PC using the supplied USB cable, you may get a message "The attached cable cannot currently charge your device." The device actually does charge, very slowly. Putting it to sleep or switching it off may help. The USB cable does supply enough power to go through the Update Maps process. This process can take 7 hours. Download Garmin express to facilitate the update. The supplied in-car power adaptor charges the device at a sensible rate.
