Investing in Water Quality Infrastructure

Protecting water quality remains a top priority for New York State, including in the City of Amsterdam, which is the latest community to benefit from DEC’s Water Quality Improvement Project (WQIP) program. Last week, Commissioner Basil Seggos and local officials celebrated $10 million in state funding for clean water awarded to the city to improve crucial water infrastructure and the health of the Mohawk River, part of $166M in water quality grants announced by Governor Kathy Hochul to help municipalities update aging water infrastructure and improve aquatic habitats.
