Maybe I'll revisit this challenge with some other guys. We kind of just did this while waiting for Calamity and some other mods to be ready for tmod 1.4.4 so they weren't interested in trying again 😅
One of the Lava Rain developers here. This was just a fun little mod a friend of mine made. It was originally just going to make lava fall from the sky, but we opted for something far more invasive by allowing it to duplicate/melt blocks as well as meteors. I helped with the art here and there. One thing you didn't notice is that the melted blocks can actually be crafted into special bricks that are very lava resistant and would be extremely helpful for base protection. There is also a meteor-resistant variant. All types of bricks by default also have a minor resistance to lava, something to keep in mind. Thanks for playing our silly little mod, glad you enjoyed it! (Hoping to get it ported to 1.4.4 eventually, sorry that it's stuck on 1.4.3)
I remember this one mod that was sort of akin to Majora's Mask where there was a cultist NPC you had to collect boss masks, which unlike Majora you would donate them to delay the timer (only one per boss) to delay the apocalypse. When the apocalypse begins, it makes the entire surface act like a solar celestial pillar with extra powerful enemies. You could technically live underground, but that would be unfeasible and your source of wood would eventually run out (unless you had modded material NPCs of course.)
ooooh nice challenge idea! i would like to note that there is a chance to receive a golden bug net from an angler quest that serves the same functionality as the fireproof net, but given that its luck based going for the eater of worlds and getting the fireproof net may be a better option unless you get lucky with quests (this would also require getting an angler first which is uuuuuh not as easy anymore)

PRO TIP: get the wood from the underworld and turn it onto a full piece of armor due to its set bonus reducing lava dmg paired with the obsidian rose you have a permanent resistance to lava damage basically immune from it Note: the obsidian rose is drop by imps. This is all true and you can test this info if its real on a "experiment" world.

@throarbin can u slow the timeliness if the apocalypse down? Cause then maybe it would work, or u guys can do a mastermode series where it takes longer but has big setbacks
@@xanbaker6783 Yes, there are methods to slow down when things start, though I'm not sure there's a way to slow it down once it has. We just did the default settings for this one.

um...yes...yes it is. We'd need the angler for one and getting to the ocean before the world is destroyed it already hard enough, ignoring how long it'd take to get quest fish or if we'd even have the water pools we'd need to get them
Have all of you tried the chest water exploit to destroy the duplicating lava? Submerge a chest with item in it and the lava cannot form in the chest so it will just deletes itself. You are playing in the 1.4.3 afterall.

uhh...if you wanted to live on surface you should have just made your houses using unbreakable blocks like the bricks from the dungeon or making it out of temple blocks
The mod creators thought of that. There is literally not a single block that can't be destroyed. In a different run, the video for which will come out at another time, the entire surface dungeon had been destroyed.
Imagine this idea but in hardcore (it would be almost impossible because certain monsters and aspects of the game make it almost impossible not to die) Edit: actually maybe its not the best idea, it might be almost impossible to survive from zero

I'm not sure. You'll probably just have to find a way to unlink the phone number from the other account. But unfortunately there isn't a whole lot I can do on my end

Not really, actually. We plugged some holes and though it did slow things down, the lava burns through the stuff real fast
