The white tape in the hose connection is actually suppose to go around the threads of the male part of it. It seals the threaded connection so they don't leak.
Why would something owned by a handyman ( because that's what " handyman's" means ie: the handyman's hammer) care about you putting tinfoil on your feet especially because we all know best use of tinfoil is to make a hat?

The foil slippers don't do anything. You wear out the foil at it scratches wood floors and causes static electricity in carpet. Try using socks.
