He spun the sled and landed on the track without a stop. We thought he would get hurt and he didn't and only luck prevented that. Nothing he trained for would of helped and he laughed it off. Going down the track even training is crazy let alone closed. Boys will be boys and sorry for their loss
Wow, I was just watching through some of your videos when this was uploaded. I remember this happening, I lived just south of Calgary at the time (I now live in Calgary).
i remember watching the Vancouver 2010 winter olympics death live on television... i know they were only teens but i cant imagine tresspassing and engaging in such an activity covertly without paramedics on stand by. some of these things are meant to help vehicles exceed 60 to 90 mph or about 144.kmh... i dont know why no one stopped to think about that
Very sad, one crazy decision has irreversible consequences. I think it's spooky that only the twins died and they were in different sleds. The company should have had a sign at the start stating bobsled and luge junction was blocked off, but I guess that's too sensible and too much to expect.
What these boys did was stupid and irresponsible, but none of us alive can say we never did anything stupid as kids - we just survived it to look back and realize what idiots we were. I have complete compassion for those unlucky kids who don't get to look back and laugh at their stupidity. They are not worse than us...just unlucky.
Anything involving trespassing onto potentially dangerous grounds is not something that everybody does... Always be cautious of your surroundings. There are certain places you just don't belong.
A lot of teenagers, especially boys, do stupid stuff like this and never have accidents or get hurt. Teen girls do stupid stuff, too. Some teens never do this kind of stuff because they’re scared or don’t like breaking rules. We’re all unique people with different personalities. The fact that the kids came from religious families is reflected in how they coped while waiting for help and how the parents of the twins who died responded to what happened. I can’t imagine the intense loss when a child dies, but it seems to me that losing twins at the same time in such a way would be utterly devastating. Their sister must have felt that devastation, too. I hope all of the families have found strength to move on and that the surviving boys have made peace with what happened to them and their friends. 🙏🏼
This is like the situation where the teenager hopped two fences that said "you'll die if you do" but did anyways and died like the sign said. You just can't feel bad for anyone except the cleanup crew for having to deal with idiots
sue for what? as sad as it is they were trespassing and were doing something they weren’t supposed to do. No one else is to blame? Yeah they can try to sue maybe and get some money but no amount will bring back their child so they probably find it as pointless
@@kmp7625 I’m being facetious about sue-happy society and the jump to sue even when the injured parties are mostly if not completely to blame for the mishap.
Internal decapitation: internal decapitation describes ligamentous separation of the spinal column from the skull base. It is possible for a human to survive such an injury; however, 70% of cases result in immediate death. (Wiki)
I don’t think the park should’ve had to upgrade their security because it’s clear to say that if somebody wants to break into something they’re going to do it it doesn’t matter how many signs or fences or whatever you have if someone’s that determine they’ll do it
Maybe it was in regards to the barrier alone? Apparently it was just a chain so if someone forgot to remove it when opening up the park, a person would probably wind up being injured even if they were meant to be there.
I cant imagine what it would be like to have twins and then lose both at the same time to something so stupid. The poor parents of all the kids get my love but omg BOTH from the same family.

"Such smart young men!! Oh yeah, they broke into a closed athletic facility for high speed sledding on an olympic training course and were injured from no fault of their own"
From the coverage at the time, it seems as though the parents encouraged them to make questionable choices in some key areas. Sadly they never got a chance to learn to make better decisions.
When I hear of tragedies like this I always think all they were drunk or high and made a bad decision but no a lot of times they are completely sober and just make a bad decision. God bless them and family and friends ❤
I'm happy that the family realised that these boys took risks and they weren't suing the park because they wouldn't have gotten anything anyway, It's crazy that both brothers died heartbreaking for the family

i remember watching the Vancouver 2010 winter olympics death live on television... i know they were only teens but i cant imagine tresspassing and engaging in such an activity covertly without paramedics on stand by. some of these things are meant to help vehicles exceed 60 to 90 mph or about 144.kmh... i dont know why no one stopped to think about that
Very sad, one crazy decision has irreversible consequences. I think it's spooky that only the twins died and they were in different sleds. The company should have had a sign at the start stating bobsled and luge junction was blocked off, but I guess that's too sensible and too much to expect.
The only thing too much to expect is that people don’t break in somewhere and do something they shouldn’t be doing
I can honestly say I never did anything stupid like this where I had a lot of time to think about any hazards. It wasn´t a decision made in seconds.
Anything involving trespassing onto potentially dangerous grounds is not something that everybody does... Always be cautious of your surroundings. There are certain places you just don't belong.
I would say that their mistake didn’t warrent death or serious injury. But sometimes life doesn’t give you a second chance… 😢
I've never taking my life for granted like this though
These poor parents losing two boys. My heart and prayers go out to them. It’s so incredibly tragic.
This is like the situation where the teenager hopped two fences that said "you'll die if you do" but did anyways and died like the sign said. You just can't feel bad for anyone except the cleanup crew for having to deal with idiots
The ignorance of youth. It’s a sad story. Thank you for the great vid.
Astounding how people avoid addressing the idiocy involved 🧟♀️
Love your work! Comenting for the algorithm 🌻
Parents that didn’t sue??? How….. Canadian. We need more sensible families like this in America.
sue for what? as sad as it is they were trespassing and were doing something they weren’t supposed to do. No one else is to blame? Yeah they can try to sue maybe and get some money but no amount will bring back their child so they probably find it as pointless
@@kmp7625 I’m being facetious about sue-happy society and the jump to sue even when the injured parties are mostly if not completely to blame for the mishap.
These were good kids who made a disastrous decision. I feel horrible for the parents.
Very similar accident happed here in Finland but instead at ski jumping slope. A girl died when her windpipe was crushed.
Just looked this up, tragic. Do you know what the cable was for on the landing hill?
@@MWorsa The cable was there to stop its unauthorized use. There were warning signs but it was dark and they didn't see them.
Moral of the story: don’t trespass and ride on rides that aren’t monitored
Born together, gone together, so sad. I have never heard of this case and I am from Calgary
Rip to these two young men
That's what responsible parents do, they don't try to blame their problems on others.
Makes me aware of how lucky I was to survive to adulthood.
When this many people together dont have a single brain cell among the group
Internal decapitation: internal decapitation describes ligamentous separation of the spinal column from the skull base. It is possible for a human to survive such an injury; however, 70% of cases result in immediate death. (Wiki)
"Internally Decapitated" has to be one of the most disturbing descriptions I've heard..
The idea of losing two sons makes me so sad
This is so tragic, but have to give so much respect to the parents for not trying to blame anyone.
I live in Calgary. I remember this story. Sad.
So tragic. What a horrible ordeal for all involved, their families and loved ones and their community.
So sad, my twins were born 7 days after these two. My condolences to the family x

I ain't kissin no egg
So sad. 😢
Huh, for some reason when I read the title I was expecting something about when the Georgian Luge competitor died during the 2010 training run
That would be a good video though.
Wow what horrible luck for that family 😢
: I'm very sorry, and VERY HEARTBROKEN, to hear about the deaths of the twins. 😭😭😢💔💔💔💐
May the twins rest in peace. 💐
I hope that their family is doing well today, as of December 2023. 🙏🙏🙏❤

There should’ve been warning signs posted telling of the blocked track.
For who? It was blocked after closing, if anything it is a good way to catch trespassers clearly
So sad good kids from a loving family. RIP lads.
I remember this, so sad 😢
This is the city where I live, and I remember seeing this on TV so vividly, hell, Evan went to the school I had graduated from the year before. I know I’d seen him around with friends before. it’s so heartbreaking, but unfortunately kids will do what kids do. It’s nobody’s fault, just a tragic accident.
It’s tragic, but they also hopped a fence and knew they shouldn’t have been there.
The respect to be given to the families is enormous🤯
I'm happy that the family realised that these boys took risks and they weren't suing the park because they wouldn't have gotten anything anyway, It's crazy that both brothers died heartbreaking for the family
Once I seen the thumbnails in this channel I subscribed👍 thanks for saving me from my long days with Amazon
one time i was on a toboggan with my little sister and when she flew off and took a header into a tree i got in trouble for it!
It's just the blame game. Something bad happens, or an accident, people always need someone to blame even when no one is to blame.
Don't do things you're not supposed to
This brought tears to my eyes. So sad what happened to the twins and the rest of them. I never like hearing stories of people losing their lives as such a young age
I remember when this happened (lived in Calgary at the time). The whole city was shocked. Tragic.
OH My.,Tragically and Unfortunately. Sad..Two Brothers at the same time.😞🙏🙏
What a terrible tragedy! These were such fine, good, young men. There but for the grace of God go I. I pray for healing and peace for these families. 🙏🏻 😭 🕊️
No offense, it's extremely sad and tragic, but they couldn't have been that smart to do what they did. Could have totally been avoided.
I forgot about this one. Really well done.
I wasn’t paying attention to the title fully, and I was thinking of the Ukrainian (?) skeleton or bobsledded who died in Olympics practice run.
I heard about that young man and saw the clip too. So sad about his accident
Georgian, I remember his name but can't spell it.
Luge was the sport too. (My edit)
@@kelseywatts589 Right. That’s it. Thank you. Such a dangerous series of sports. Here it is:
“Nodar Kumaritashvili was on the verge of becoming the first Georgian luger to participate in the Olympics when he died in a training accident hours before the opening ceremony of the 2010 Vancouver Games.”
Sorry to see this had to be reuploaded. Liking and commenting again.
Unheard of, great story. Sensitively told.
I'm so Glad the Park did not get blamed for this. So sad all around 🖤
Can you talk about the Jetline Roller Coaster accident? A woman fell out and died and many others were injured!
I'm glad the family didn't sue
If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.
Ecclesiastes 4:10
PLEASE research the Texas Giant roller-coaster death at Six Flags over Texas. A mom was riding with her son and daughter when her seatbelt failed. She hung onto the ride while other riders tried to help, but she eventually fell to her death. The young son had to be held back while trying to get to his mom.
I visited Calgary in 2016 and remember hearing this.
When academic excellence meets ignorance of physics and practical skill.
Really sorry something like this happened to them. It was a nice change of pace though not seeing the parents rush into court .
