How to do proper endotracheal tube suction in ICU & how far the suction catheter should be inserted

Hi , I am an inpatient physiotherapist and practise suctioning with the patients who required it . One suction time should not be more than 8-12 secs and u can do 2-3 reps as per patient requirement . Also keep checking vitals (mainly spo2) and provide enough o2 in between the suction reps to oxygenate lungs if not connected to the ventilator.
