You mentioned the episode “Herman the Tire Kicker” I watched them film that and many episodes in 1965. My father was a set Decorator for many years at Universal Studios. I was 10 years old. The Munsters set was very family friendly. Many studio workers brought their kids to the set. Al Lewis loved playing Grampa . All of us visitors to the set called him Grampa Al. He gave me his script from this episode which I have to this Day. It’s Mimeographed. The script has a cigar burn on it from Al Lewis. He Always had a Cigar going.
@robert jacobs. WOW! Very cool story, as well as some great behind-the-scenes info! I love that you (still) have the "Tire Kicker" script (cigar burns & all!!). That's awesome! And what great memories to have (which included your Dad), as well! ❤ Very nice. I enjoyed reading your comment! 😊 Take care, all! ~Maura in Maryland~ 😊
3:22 - The man with the glasses is actor, Pat Harrington Jr., who later played Dwayne F. Schneider on the series, One Day at a Time, with Valerie Bertinelli.
Thanks for a great video. It's a great list of bloopers and stuff I never noticed before. Its amazing to think of all of the work and technical challenges that go into making these shows especially when special effects technology was limited.
It sure seems like they had to INVENT a lot of the effects and ideas that made the scripts work! I wouldn't be surprised if they had a couple of really talented guys with engineering backgrounds figuring out how to make the impossible into a filmable effect. I myself have a bit of a fascination with how shows of this era managed to do things we couldn't concieve of doing without CGI. Granted I've learned a lot of sweet background into how a lot of these things were done, but I'm sure a lot of young adults today would be SHOCKED that a lot of the effects in this show (And others from that era) were all practical and computers weren't even used in film production yet, and would be hard pressed to figure out even a smidgen of how those beautiful practical effects managed to get done on set, and in budget.
Bwahahaha!! I loved all of these Bloopers, Rick! As always, I refer to you as an Eagle Eye, because you have the knack for spotting all kinds of cool slip-ups & bloopers!! I love seeing these kinds of "uh-ohs"!! You spot them all! THANKS so much for sharing your abilities with us!! I look forward to seeing more the next time you feel like putting your next Bloopers Video together! ❤ ~Maura in Maryland~ 😊
I think most of these bloopers were really design choices driven by budget. The effects were good enough, no compelling reason to fix. Love seeing how they did it.
Pat Priest "Marilyn" lived on Shepard Drive in Camarillo, Ca, she subscribed to the Caramrillo Daily News and I was her paperboy. True story. And I once saw Yevonne DeCarlo "Lilly" in a cloths store in Camarillo. Maybe she was in town visiting Pat that day.
That cable at Herman's feet is an XLR type, which is still used today. It's the best type of cable to be used for audio. As for the trailer, more than likely, it was a sight gag. They probably knew that all of the cars wouldn't fit, but it could have been part of the comedy.
Hi Rick....Your amazing how you spot all the Bloopers. I have been watching the Munster's Since it aired.. Now I'll better notice Rick. Thank You for another good one! .
Their was a blooper on the episode with Herman’s cousin johann where when dr Frankenstein opened the closet door their was no towels but when johann came out their was no towels anymore
Blooper 9 is obviously a series of cuts to drive one car in, stop filming, move out the car, then film the next car driving in, and so on. The moving shadows show the time lapse.
I feel obligated to point out, in your final blooper with the cars going into the trailer like a clown car, due to the style of the show and some of the silly and impossible things that have happened on it, a bunch of con artists loading too many cars into a trailer that couldn't possibly fit them all seems like it's just part of the comedy done with clever editing to make it seem like they put more cars then could fit. Obviously they had to pull each car out and film the next one going in, then cut between the pieces of film to achieve the effect, so it was a very deliberate and intentional effect. Again the kooky and impossible comedy of the show was one of it's trademarks so this seems like one more of those silly bits.
@@randytim512 Oh yes that's a very likely possibility! Someone probably had a brilliant idea how to use it with so many cars and they managed to turn it into a comedy bit that perfectly suited the style of the show. Seriously some really crazy impossible stuff happens on that show, so the whole clown trailer thing just fits in so well I wouldn't call it a blooper lol.
George Reeves, Superman, favorite thing was busting through walls. Would of loved to have seen him come busting through Herman's front door. One of the things I always notice in the title opening when Herman busts through the front door how the broken doors now have clean edges and were larger than Herman. Love all your videos Rick!
Blooper 6 is not a blooper; the same pill is merely a circular lozenge seen at two different angles; face-on and edge-on as the bat head is moving around.
The frightened man that runs through the door at the museum, is a young Pat Harrington Duane Schneider ( One day at a time ). LMAO. I loved the Munsters!
I always LOVED "The Munsters". It was so funny, and helped me get over my fear of Frankenstein when I saw the show in reruns as a kid. It was hysterical that he was so afraid of Lily, and would back down to her all the time. My favorite episode is where Grandpa and Herman search for buried treasure, although there might be others, because I haven't seen the show in a long time. Thanks for the post, Rick.
Number 3 blooper with the leg cable. This was a a mic cable that ran up the pants leg of the actor to a microphone clipped to their person. This is noticeably the same scenario that was seen in the early black and white episodes of the Andy Griffith Show.
Actually, most of them aren't really bloopers but just part of the special effects. Since most people didn't notice these things then, perhaps, it proves how well they are made.
I don't think #9 was a blooper... It was a sight gag. Like a Clown Car.. All those cars fit into that small truck trailer..... That was the funniest part of that scene.
Hey Rick. Yes, great stuff! The wire up Herman's pants is a mic cord. They did that in The Andy Griffith Show all the time. It was pretty common in those days, in situations where it wasn't practical to have a boom mic. Keep up the good work!
Another clue about the clown car trailer is that you can see the shadow on the side of it move each time another car goes into it; a clear sign of a lot of time elapsing.
In the episode where Herman strolls through the park to alleviate his insomnia and causes a panic, the next day had a press conference at the mayor's office - and this old drunk hung around and heckled the whole thing. I always wondered why he was tolerated in a mayor's presser like that.
1. Not necessarily a blooper. You could say that the wall broke along the joints between the blocks, something which could be possible, since those would be weaker than the blocks themselves
One thing to think about is when the bat is holding the pill could it not be that the pill is being held end to end ? After the bat flys off could the pill be lying flat in the bats mouth instead of it being a capsule we are seeing the edge of the pill ? Another thing is you would not be able to put more than one car in the trailer because it is a short box.
I always loved seeing those pre-cut outlines whenever you knew Herman would be crashing through the doors or a wall or something - it's like seeing the wrinkles and seams in the cycloramas on GREEN ACRES . . . there's a very certain warmth and charm in old-fashioned effects - it definitely engages you in the creative process of what goes into making these effects as opposed to the cold and artificial look and feel of today's digital effects. I confess I'm a little surprised you need executive producers for these videos - they seem like they'd be really simple to make and hardly require any financing at all.
Season 2 ep 5 Coach of the Year. Herman is teaching Eddie how to throw a discus. After he launches it they cut to a football going over the trees. Not a discus.
I love all of these blooper videos you make Rick. Some of these aren’t very noticeable and they’re fun to point out and see just little mistakes not intended to be seen. Thanks again Rick and keep up the great work!
I appreciate and always enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing. On #4 if you pause the video as the man is running through the door, look closely and you can see the real door still attached in the background.

I remember (I don't know which season it was) but during the open credits, when the cast was being introduced, Yvonne DeCarlo's costume was rather translucent and more was seen than I'm sure was meant to be seen. Was this just a one episode mistake and was corrected in following episodes? I was a young boy at the time so of course I would notice. Thanks for the video.
I remember that there was an episode or intro or something that showed Yvonne perhaps in a way they didn't mean to show her! It's been so long since I've seen an episode of the Munsters not counting the movie "Munster Go Home" which I thought was so well done!
I love the Munsters I wish cozi tv would bring back monster Sundays and Rick I love when you do vedeos on the monsters the Addams family and I love Lucy those was my favorite shows growing up
None of us could have ever caught these. Far more remarkable is I woke up this morning August 29 with this video and suddenly remembered I had a dream last night with Fred Gwenn(as Herman) and no other cast members but I can't for the life of me remember what it was about. Frustrating!
'Mistakes' that you can only see 50 years later by stopping the film frame by frame hardly count to the original product as released to the public for God's sake.
WHy would you call those bloopers?? It was the way the effects were done at that time. Yes, you probably can see them in New HD resolution but if you were watching the original episodes on a TV of the ERA on NTSC 440 resolution you would never see the items that you point out. You should also be mentioning that in your video.
On number 9 you say one of your favorites from the “ Tire series “ - What tire series??? There were never any additional episodes based on tires. Your narrative seriously needs fine polishing

Herman the tire kicker, was by far the best episode!

I never understood how Eddie was a werewolf while Herman was Frankenstein and lily was a vampire

If you look at a round pill from the side instead of straight on, it can look like a different shaped pill.

Thank for making me feel like a kid again 😁
Another blooper at 3:01. The sign wouldn't say "Prehistorical Mammals", it would properly read "Prehistoric Mammals".
The semi-trailer was a Tardis! LOL
Ha Ha Ha! Very funny thanks.
I just figured all those cars going into that truck was a joke, rather than a blooper, kind of like the clown car effect.
7. Isn’t that the boom mic?
Walter Tomaszewski Yes it is. It was at the wrong angle to be part of the "bat rig."
Great video Rick

Love the bloopers, I want more.
There was a episode that when Herman fell down on ground, his fake hair piece flopped open, and came back down on his head.
Yes I covered that one in my other Munsters bloopers video
Another clue about the clown car trailer is that you can see the shadow on the side of it move each time another car goes into it; a clear sign of a lot of time elapsing.
In the episode where Herman strolls through the park to alleviate his insomnia and causes a panic, the next day had a press conference at the mayor's office - and this old drunk hung around and heckled the whole thing. I always wondered why he was tolerated in a mayor's presser like that.
The focal point on the cars driving into the truck was intentional to create humor and definitely not considered a “ blooper “
oh yeah that was a bit odd
There was an episode I remember from when I was a kid. Herman was on the ground and the hair on the top of his head flipped back.
Yes, I covered that loop her in my other monsters video if you can find a link in this video description
1. Not necessarily a blooper. You could say that the wall broke along the joints between the blocks, something which could be possible, since those would be weaker than the blocks themselves
You could say that it was part of the style of the show to make things like that almost cartoonistically perfect or exaggerated.

The stooges are the best
You've got a keen eye. The only one I had noticed was the small trailer in Herman the tire kicker. One of my favorites.
Which service has shows like the Munsters, Gilligan’s Island, Hogan’s Hero’s, etc. all those shoes we watched way back... it’s not Netflix!
A lot of fun - as usual. And when you focus on The Munsters, the best show in the history of the Universe, I never miss it.

The bat with the pill. Was the second shot an oval pill? Or a side view of the pill?

The Munsters was one of the dumbest shows on TV!!!.... Soooooooooooo stupid!!!! SMH 🙄
