In Part Four, Author of Hood Legends, talks about meeting Thomas "Tootie" Reese, the Godfather of black drug kingpins on the West Coast. Tootie was born March 17, 1937 and died December 28, 2017. Through Tootie, Michael Jourdain would become familiar with the likes of Felix "The Cat' Mitchell, Edward "Fast Eddie" Stanley, and a host of celebrities.
At seventeen, Michael would meet Thomas "Tootie" Reese, the Godfather of black drug kingpins, and was impressed with his tremendous wealth. After he became a member of Tootie's organization, Michael would have all the money that he had ever dreamed of. But the death of his best friend, Raul, to gang violence, changed the course of his life. He was plotting the murder of Raul's killer when the government took his freedom.
In prison, education changed Michael's life. He began to understand how his actions and the actions of those he knew and associated with were destroying black neighborhoods, and he became a social activist. His desires changed from wanting to be wealthy by any means necessary to wanting to save underserved neighborhoods from self-destructing, and to help young men and women convert their misguided street ambition into entrepreneurship.

This probably the most interesting interview. Finally some hustlers out of L.A 💯.. . They gang lifestyle out there seem like kid shit especially talking about highschool shit
facts
Especially when gang bangers and drug dealers were getting similar amounts of time.
This is L.A. baby what you expect
I usually don’t reply to comments. 💯🥂
Like I said I don’t usually comment on comments of my interview but this brother spoke and hit the nail on the head! “ High school shit “
This was right on time! Enjoyed a nice steak! Could watch in peace while my girl caught up on her ratchet reality tv... Had some me time with another GREAT interview! Simple pleasures. Small victories. Life is good!
😂💯 my lady watching the baddies reunion rn
I understand bro about that me time, ain't nothing like it!!!
I like how he differentiated real gangsters from gang bangers. And trained killers from gangs.
To Kev Mac videos: This is Oran from Oakland. I was watching your video about Thomas "Tootie" Reese and he was supposed to be the top gangster in the game on the west coast. That's wrong. The Ward Brothers were on Reeses level or above. Frank Ward started the famous Player's ball, The players picnic, had rolls royces and plenty of property. frank by himself was a multi-millionaire when he was killed in 1972 before the movie the Mack came out. Don't get me twisted Reese was big but he wasn't the only one on that level frank ward was absolutely on the same level as reese.
S-Mac is asking some really great questions!. Salute to S-Mac and Kev Mac 🔥
This series is fire 🔥… right up there with your best work Kev Mac. I’m going to buy Michael Jourdains book. 👍🏿
Trill Spill! I really agree! A damn good series!
I usually don’t respond or comment on comments on my interviews but I had to address this ! Thanks for helping a kid or family in a underserved Community “ THE HOOD “ . ( let’s get that 1 million reviews ) just keeping it 💯
Thanks for helping a child!
Glad to help big homie.
Your book’s a good read! 💪🏿

It's definitely Cutes.
Cutes is connected to nearly every Gang member in LA pre-1980.
@@wolf7el356 cutes don’t have the blood connection like he does

That damn Kev Mac & S-Mac done it again! 🔥
In Mickey Mo(ore)s book, he said he ran Felix down to LA. I was a wee lad then, so this is way outta my league to speak on personally. But the fact that Felix had connections down in LA makes the move make sense...
"Yea i know Squally Davis....Squally was a hustler. He came from Tootie Reese and them. I don't know Tootie Reese, but I tell you what, he is the number 1 hustler when I was a lil kid. Tootie Reese was the Munson of Gangsters to the hustler's of hustlers."
This series is dope! Another banger! JERSEY
Legendary interview

I knew that this cat was a hustler.. Tootsie Reeses?? Didn't he supply Felix Mitchell??
Man that shit will never be duplicated just like the crack era. Brother Kev you got to release that song at the end, shit is fire 🔥. Salute
That is the predecessor of the crack era. Free base is just cheaper and more effective. The crack era is the result of the drug culture and hustling culture of the 70s.
Good shit!!
The 1st name I heard coming out of LA! Mr Tootie Reese, and coming from HUSTLETOWN TX you should understand why! In tha SOUTH bakk in the day there was NO separation between being in the TRIBES/NATIONS, and STREET/GANGSTERISM! In tha SOUTH it was 1 in the same! RIP to the Kids that didn't make it thru the late 80's to 00's! Because it really was kut that rokk wit my left hand, and bust that heat with the right! Michael exemplify tha SOUTH to getting money! Thank you KMV for shining that light to where tha SOUTH can relate to a LA get down! This definitely PIRATE'S 🏴☠️ SH1T!
Good job kev 👍🏾

Mr Jourdain, did you participate in the Players Ball at Sportsman's Park?
That man is fresh a true hustler
Great interview, It would be great to have him and cutes do a interview
Hustler history is wayyy more interesting than more gangbanging stories. 💯
I agree.
I'm from tha SOUTH! So I can agree to a certain point! Even tho it was NO separation between the two! Gangbang had to except Southern GANGSTERISM to be OUTSIDE on the Kut!

To Kev Mac, this is Oran from Oakland. Tootie Reese was a down player but so were the Ward Brothers from Oakland. The Ward Brothers were so down and names ringing that Hollywood made a movie about them. Remember the Mack. The movie was loosely based on the life of Frank Ward. So, saying that Thomas Tootie Reese was the godfather of the west coast is Bullshit. The Ward Brothers were right along with Reese. How many L.A. gangsters and dope dealers has Hollywood made movies about. how about N O N E. The Macking Ward Brotherrs GOAT. BY THE WAY FRANK WARD STARTED THE PLAYER'S PICNIC AND PLAYER'S BALL IN OAKLAND AROUND 1969 OR 1970.THE G O A T THE WARD BROTHERS
Serious question- no sarcasm, no hate, and not disagreeing. Frank was killed in 1972, do you think he saw more money in his lifetime than Tootie Reese throughout his reign? Had they seen 90 million at once?
Now this is a fact- Tootie was given that label after the movie and after Frank’s death. That’s the time and era Michael is referring to. He’s not talking about Pre- 1972 lol don’t think he met Tootie until 1973 and although Tootie had several drug arrests I think it was the mid 1970s when he was most known as this big kingpin.
Kev is 100 percent on point
Interesting! Never heard of the Ward brothers, but have seen the Makk! I've heard of Tootie Reese when I was a kid looking up to Husles& G's in tha DIRTY SOUTH! So not knokking the Ward brothers, but tha SOUTH is a stretch from Kali with no cellular phones bakk then while still hearing Mr Tootie Reese's name! Now that you've mentioned the Ward brothers I damn sure going to ask! My G uncles are still alive, and 1 of them still in Kali! Thanks for the research!
@@pirate55hitinc.26 From Oran from Oakland. The Ward Brothers were the biggest pimps on the west coast period. Frank Ward by himself had to have 20 to 30 girls himself. The girls used to trick out of the California Hotel and the Ebony hotels in west Oakland. At the famous Ali-Frazier fight on March 8th, 1971, Ebony magazine did a complete pictural layout of the Ward Brothers at Madison Square Garden. Even all the pimps on the east coast paid homage to the Ward Brothers. The Ward Brothers showed up with about 6 or 7 girls decked out in Mink Hot Pants. Now that's style and class. The Ward Brothers were in the New York Times paper. I was 17 and i was amazed at the height the Ward Brothers made. But by then i was running with the Oakland Black Panthers for self-defense. The Panthers changed my whole outlook at PIMPING AND ESPECIALLY PIMPING BLACK SISTERS. IT WAS WRONG THEN AND IT'S WRONG NOW. Plus if you know or heard of Don Magic Juan of Chicago fame he tries to say he started the player's ball which is a lie. Frank Ward started the Players Picnic and Players Ball in 1969 or 1970 at the old Showcase Lounge in North Oakland on Telegraph Ave. The Wards were also huge in the Coke game. I mean keys and keys of top-grade blow. The true players of the game the fabulous Ward Brothers.
By the way, i am writing you from Cambodia where i now live. I fired the USA years ago. Plus these fine-ass Cambodian freaks just love black men to death. I am now rolling with the ORGY GAME HAHAHAHAHHAHA GOODBYE USA. NOT FOR ME.
@@KevMacVideos From Oran from Oakland. how come you never answer any of my questions? You are very good at changing the subject to something else. See it's like this player i am not ashamed at anything i have done in my life. i don't dodge questions or change the subject because it's too hard. I am the real thing on two feet and i walk it as i talk it. So why are you evading the questions that i ask you? From Man to man or Brother to Brother i think you could answer my questions without changing the subject on me.
