@@myaccount3402 And please stop pushing idiocy in the wake of a tragedy. Hamlin took a direct blow to the heart, similar to a precordial thump, that sent him into a lethal rhythm. Nothing more. It’s been happening long before the days of the vaccine and 24/7 media coverage. But on a side note: Why do you think deadly diseases like polio & smallpox have been essentially eradicated? We all received a host of vaccines as children, and surprise, turned out just fine. Viruses adapt over time to survive, like anything else, and this is just one more vaccine we now need. It also happens to be the safest to date, since it uses no part of the active virus. Conspiracy theories are more exciting to believe than science. It doesn’t mean we have to buy in to them. Let’s stop pretending we know more than the millions of virologists, biologists, immunologists, scientists, nurses & doctors around the world who have dedicated their careers to saving lives.
This is certainly a tragic situation. While I am certainly praying for Hamlin, let's not forget to pray for Tee Higgins, who has rarely been mentioned. Imagine the guilt he is feeling after making the hit. The hit was legal and not excessive in any way but he must feel awful. Please remember him as well.
He saw him on the ground and kept walking. He got up a shook it off cause he knew he did more damage then felt. This was deliberate to avoid get tackled himself. If he wanted more yards he could’ve dodged as that speed. This sport is violent, the players are violent. The World Cup had nothing like this
Some of the snide comments below are disgusting. This is a human being we are talking about here. Let's get him well and then you can talk about politics all you want. He was doing what he loved and this was a tragedy that occurs with the sport. And it can happen to anyone at anytime. Get real folks and pray he gets better.
I'm not a Bills fan, but there is absolutely no room for rivalry. I'm shocked and hope that Damar will be ok as soon as possible. Prayers for you big man.
At least excellent medical help was there instantly. He's young, he's in top shape so he has a fighting chance. Prayers to him and his family for a speedy and full recovery .
I don't watch football often, but this news was sad to hear, and even harder to watch. I have been praying for Damar, his family (especially his mother, who was there), and the NFL players and coaches. May he be healed and his strength renewed.
Every tragedy encountered in sports serves as a learning experience for everyone. Some of the soccer game played in Europe has seen so many players collapse & died on the field due to cardiac arrest while playing this beautiful game. I pray & wish the family a quick recovery.
I hope that this young man survives to play another day. Very glad he got fast, effective treatment and his heart started again on the field. Fabrice Muamba went on to make a very good recovery. I hope Damar Hamlin does too.
I hope he survives but it might be smart after something like this to never play the game again. You can come back from a broken arm, torn ACL, etc but that’s your heart. I hope he thinks about what he’s got and if he’s willing to lose it.
I highly doubt this was due to the “hit” he took (or delivered). This seems like an underlying issue and would be gambling with his life to return to the game.
Let's also say a prayer for Tee Higgins. That young man is going through a lot and as Damar's parents have said Tee Higgins was not to blame. That play is played hundreds of times and no one gets hurt like what happened to Damar.
I see everyone is ignoring the elephant in the room. He was boosted with the latest clot shot Dec 26th and 7 days later has a heart attack. Too many healthy young male athletes suddenly keeling over with heart attacks....... most of them dying.
i remember Gathers. All of my fellow classmates, especially our football teams all wrote Gathers on their jerseys. We were in 7th grade. I was a cheerleader, and we wore big buttons with his name for remembrance. Very scary. Praying for Damar & his fam, friends & fans.
Stop it I will not allow you hypocrites to use GOD name now You laughed at true believers for 2 years during the vaccination poison drive and now you are all victims of this…. And they are making excuses for it… But this is a reporter side effect of the vaccines Dr Fauci was your GOD then so return back to him…
Now I'm not anti-football or anything and I've never played the game, but I just don't think the human body is made to cope with that level of stress and trauma on a regular basis. Same goes for even non-impact sports like marathon running.
Look at all the wrestlers long gone. Majority of them died before 40 from the 1980's and early 90's. On the road almost 350 days a year and bodies are put through disaster which leads to pain killer addiction.steroids and cocaine. Yes wrestling is pre determined but the hits and abuse to bones is real. They have no off season. Our great ancestors would walk 14 miles a day so our bodies can walk it but yes tons of painful hits and such just ain't our thing. The way a man is built today and speed and muscles vastly is different from the smaller, almost beer gut pro players from 65 years ago.

So sad. Every time an athlete goes thru this tragedy, it's getting sadder and sadder. Been happening a lot in soccer lately, but the United States doesn't report on it for whatever reason. Only us that watch soccer know, as it's not as large a sport in the US as football or basketball is here. It's happened in swimming a few times, with swimmers' hearts stopping during practice or competitions. This is becoming TOO FREQUENT and TOO SAD for everyone involved, especially the families of these athletes that have a healthy family member just DROP. I know they're pacing like "how can this happen to the healthiest person in our entire family?" Our athletes are human. They are larger than the games they compete in. They all need to be evaluated to ensure we're not literally watching people die on TV in front of our eyes, every week.
Every human is different and has a different heart , and there is no doctor in the world who understands if someone will have a heart attack or when. This terrible scene can never be expected and is very rare and tragic. Great job by medical personnel first responders for working hard to get Damar breathing again on the field !!! Lets continually pray that Damar can breathe on his own , and be walking again and be with his family !!!
Football is a dangerous sport and a player's career can end suddenly without warning. Prayers go out to him and his family, hoping for a speedy recovery for this young man ! 🙏
This was a freak occurrence that rarely occurs as this type of "hit" happens in nearly every game. They were quick to respond in all the correct ways, but the question is how much damage occurred and does Damar have any pre-existing heart issues..often not discovered prior to a horrific occurrence like this.
I doubt he has a pre existing heart condition, as NFL players get physicals and workups pretty often. They would've caught something like that by now, I think. I'm positive this was a freak accident.
@@MegaKat it was a freak accident, but it is possible there could be an underlying condition that made it worse. I mean no one thought Ronnie Hillman would die a few years after getting a ring, and almost no one knew Ryan Clark would go down and almost die in Denver due to sickle cell 20 years ago. Not trying to make light of this man's fight for life, just saying that doctors can miss things when the NFL flashes money at them.
NFL players and coaches* the organization wanted to continue the game five minutes after the man was taken away in an ambulance, the players and coaches of the both teams refused.
This event looks similar to what happened to Chris Pronger of the St Louis Blues in the 90s. Pronger was hit in the chest with a puck, and immediately collapsed and had to be resuscitated. It was later explained as an induced arrhythmia, like what is being described in this instance. Amazingly, Pronger was back playing within a week, and had a long career afterward. I'm hoping that Damar Hamlin will be as lucky as Pronger was.
It wasn't a pre-existing heart condition... unfortunately he took blunt force trama to the chest at the exact moment his heart was beginning it's next cycle of recovery...heart has it's electrical system shocked causing ventricular fibrillation....
@@johntrent151 This has happened to athletes at all levels and different sports, baseball, rugby. Still trying to inject bs politics into a tragic mishap? How sad.
@@johntrent151 that doesn't matter. Research it. This incident has happened because of the trauma to chest .....at the perfectly wrong time. It's rare that happens but it's the perfect storm when it does.
in the 1980s, weused to use a maneuver called the precordial thump - a firm tap to the chest wall - to snap a patient's heart out of potentially fatal arrhythmias. It was often effective, but sometimes would cause the heart simply to stop; so the practice was discontinued and professional standard of practice changed. It sounds like this man may be a clinical demonstration of why we stopped doing the thump. I am so relieved that the right care was immediately available, and that Mr Hamlin's loved ones--teammates and co-professionals included--have good reason to be optimistic.❤
I wouldn't say I like football, but I can't stop thinking about this precious man after hearing about it on WBLJ radio today. Damar Hamlin and his family, you are in my prayers.
Well one thing for certain, he will not be able to play football anymore, the insurance companies won't cover him. Actually if you watch right before he collapsed, the guy he tackled, his helmet slammed against Hamlin's chest which was enough to stop it.
It really irks me when people feel the need to start with “I’m not a Bills fan, but…” Why does that matter? We’re all humans praying for another human.
Thank you! That's been driving me crazy! It doesn't matter who your team is, you shouldn't want to see any player hurt but certainly in a situation as serious and life threatening the uniform he's wearing is irrelevant, we all saw a man's heart stop last night, the teams don't matter at that point. You just want to see him recover. I'm also not a Bills fan but even seeing the players crying on the sidelines was hard, I felt terrible for them. You don't have to be a fan of a particular team to, you know, have a heart.
For as long as American Football is played in full upper body armour and helmets, the risk of this type of event is much higher than in similar sports such as rugby or Aussie Rules. The problem is that removing the upper body armour makes shoulder injuries, especially in WRs, much more likely and once you have shoulder armour you need head protection in form of helmets (even if they do increase chances of concussion)
Praying for Damar Hamlin's recovery and comfort for his family. And I hope and pray that someone is checking on Tee Higgins cause he is blaming himself for what happened and he is gonna need some help.
I remember when FIFA forced the Danish National Soccer team back on the field few hours after Christian Eriksen (Inter, Ajax Amsterdam, Totteham and Manchester United) had a cardiac arrest on the field. The teams didn´t wanted it, of cause Denmark lost. Sometimes the right thing to do is not obvios for some. This response was the right thing to do. Peace
The Bills and Bengals might as well end their season now. The players who witnessed this minds ain't gonna be right to focus on football now ...PTSD....they going to be afraid to play, tackle and get hit...hope young man hamlin makes it ...
1971 Detroit Lions Huges WR age 28 passed away while playing the Chicago Bears . 3 minutes left in the game after 3 plays, he collapsed . Last player to pass away during a game
reminds me of the situation that hit Christian Eriksen of now Manchester United back at the Euros a couple of years ago when he collapsed on the pitch Horrific to see
I’m hoping this kid makes a full recovery, no one wants to see anything like that on a playing field in any sport. Now, I need to say something that some people will probably have an issue with. I’m beyond sick and tired of spoiled, entitled, wealthy athletes comparing a child’s game to military combat and the mental and physical scars it leaves behind. Don’t compare some guy playing football and being injured or even almost killed as tantamount to the brutality and horror of combat, there are absolutely zero similarities and as someone who suffers hourly from combat PTSD (USMC combat vet) it sickens me severely that these people think they are somehow the same thing. It’s disgusting to those of us who have seen other humans vaporized by the power of military weaponry. There are no comparisons, period.
You are so right. No comparison between combat and any other human activity. Thank you from our military family, still dealing with trauma not only from Iraq war but Vietnam.
Absolutely agree. Much respect to you for your service. I hope you've been able to receive the quality of care you and all our veterans deserve. Thank you.
He took a helmet to the chest and it jolted him back and forth. You can see he's conditioned to be hit but his heart did not handle that impact. It happened at the exact moment to cause cardiac arrest which is rare but it happened. God bless this young man and his family and friends who love him.
With commotio Cortez you don't have to have an underlying heart problem, you just have to get hit hard at the exact right place at the exact right moment and it stops your heart. This is what the doctors have explained over and over and it looks like that's what happened to this gentleman
This is terrible, but he says "he won't speculate", but that's exactly what he is doing by saying it has to do with the hit in the exact spot to cause this. For all anyone knows, it may have just been his time to have a cardiac arrest. it happens every day with no hits at all
This is very upsetting. I wonder if he has undiagnosed heart disease, my son has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and is 23 years old. This disease can cause sudden cardiac arrest. My prayers are with all those involved
I've been watching football for as long as I've been alive and I've never seen anything close to as terrifying as that was. I was watching the game but I must have looked away or walked into the kitchen for a second when he actually collapsed. I saw him.down on the field at first and just figured it was a normal injury but then they showed the sidelines and seeing the players in tears, panicking on the sidelines, you just don't see that and that's when it really hit home how serious it was. I am very glad that they listened to the players that they weren't alright to play, they're people, you cannot ask them to get right back out on the field after that.
I’m not a huge football fan, my dad and brothers are though and one thing I have always maintained is respect for the people who are part of the league. Prayers up for Damar 🙏🏻
Honestly I don't follow the Bills. I didn't actually see the game. One of my FB friends posted pray for Damar Hamlin. I googled him to see was going on. I watched this video and my heart just sanked. Seeing him collapse, the look on all the players and all the fans faces brought me tears. I'm praying for him. Praying for the doctors and medical personnel.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
But, here's the thing: These players are getting bigger and faster because of technological advancements, and while with that comes advancements in safety, this still makes for a very dangerous game. Sure, the hits are hits that we see every week, but the collisions are worse due to the speed of the game.
Lord heal this your man through and through. From the top of his head to the end of his toes.provide comfort for his family at this time. We trust in you lord.
Understandably, people want to know what happened to Mr. Hamlin and tend to speculate answers. In the case of cardiac arrest, it's not that simple. It's possible that what occurred with Mr. Hamlim was not associated with a football related injury. What is for sure is that when he arrived at the hospital he underwent immediate cardiac catheterization to determine if a sudden blockage resulted in the arrest, while cardiac enzyme levels are measured to determined hearth muscle damage, if any. Once he's stable, additional cardiac tests will be performed to determine overall cardiac function, such as left ventricular ejection fraction to rule out CHF (congestive heart failure) or a cardiomyopathy. As soon as possible, a complete neurological evaluation will be performed to determine the presence of any neurologic sequalae. Other cause of cardiac arrest includes heart valve disease (usually diagnosed early in life) and sudden fatal cardiac arrythmias, such as ventricular tachycardia. By now, his treating cardiologists have a good idea of what happen and the most likely reason why Mr. Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest.
I hope there weren't too many kids up late last night watching this when it happened live. Just seeing how traumatized the rest of the Bills team were to see one of their own players having CPR performed on them in the field and then having to be driven off to the hospital from the field would be enough to unsettle younger TV viewers, not unlike how kids reacted to seeing Robert Kennedy shot live on television and the reactions of the people who were there with Robert when it happened.
NFL is a brutal game that impacts health conditions of players. I do not understand why most comments focus on one player and show sympathies. This is an after-the fact consolation but not really focusing on solving the problem itself.
*Prayer:* "Oh Father God, why does it take a tragedy on the field for grown men to take a knee and bow for the right reasons? Father God we don't know Your Will for the outcome, but we do know you were with Damar at every instance. It is our desire that he pulls through and makes a 100 percent recovery, and that he can use this as a living testimony to your Goodness and Mercy. May you envelope Yourself in Peace over his Mama, and the entire family, in and out of the sports world. I pray all this in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen!." This is for all the peeps out there that believe in God Almighty and will stand in agreement over this. For all the naysayers, it's not for you.
This is one of the scariest injuries I’ve seen. As a Bills fan, it messed me up to see this in real time. This is up there with Bryce Florie (for me PERSONALLY) and what is probably the injury that messed me up the most: Clint Malarchuk. The Malarchuk injury was before my time, but seeing a video of it was terrifying and it stuck in my head for DAYS.
This is most likely Commotio cordis a blunt force trauma to the heart/ chest right when the heart is resetting between beats which causes cardiac arrest, the heart not resetting and beating again. I hope this young man pulls thru.

Thank you for mentioning him, I can’t imagine how he’s feeling right now 💔
He saw him on the ground and kept walking. He got up a shook it off cause he knew he did more damage then felt.
This was deliberate to avoid get tackled himself. If he wanted more yards he could’ve dodged as that speed.
This sport is violent, the players are violent.
The World Cup had nothing like this
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I hope he knows how normal his tackle was and it was just an unlucky hit to an unlucky location on Hamlin. ♥️
I watched the game; all of those players are behind both of them. They are forever teammates here on earth. 🙏🏻💙

Every tragedy encountered in sports serves as a learning experience for everyone. Some of the soccer game played in Europe has seen so many players collapse & died on the field due to cardiac arrest while playing this beautiful game. I pray & wish the family a quick recovery.
Prayers for Damar prayers for his family prayers for ALL who witnessed this sad and terrifying moment
I hope that this young man survives to play another day. Very glad he got fast, effective treatment and his heart started again on the field. Fabrice Muamba went on to make a very good recovery. I hope Damar Hamlin does too.
Heart issues caused by everything except that thing they made him get
I hope he survives but it might be smart after something like this to never play the game again. You can come back from a broken arm, torn ACL, etc but that’s your heart. I hope he thinks about what he’s got and if he’s willing to lose it.
So true. Oxygen and other treatment is very important for his brain function.
ARE YOU INSANE? IF HE SURVIVES HE SHOULD STOP PLAYING. PERIOD.
Blessings to all the players on the Bills team & Bengals teams. Damar & family 🙏🙏 to them.

The human body isn't supposed to be injecting itself with experimental vaccines.
Look at all the wrestlers long gone. Majority of them died before 40 from the 1980's and early 90's.

Exactly right
in the 1980s, weused to use a maneuver called the precordial thump - a firm tap to the chest wall - to snap a patient's heart out of potentially fatal arrhythmias.

You know what irks me, the fake care and concern from people just because this person is famous and plays football.

I was watching the game but I must have looked away or walked into the kitchen for a second when he actually collapsed.
Cincinnati UC health has the best cardiac unit in the country ...and that's where he is so hopefully, he will survive.
