I was in primary 3 in 1978 when it was changed by the military junta under Obasanjo to the meaningless aggressive one. I love it and I listen to it in every channel that produces it. It is like a prayer, hymn and Psalm to me.
I can’t lie this is meaningful and easier to learn because it’s meaningful. Though tribes and tongue may differ but in brotherhood we stand, I love that part. (You will definitely feel that part more if you live in a country where you barely see blacks, when you eventually see your Nigerian fellow of different tribe, just sing that part and hug each other tight) This new one preaches about patriotism , love and it prays for the contract. Superb, lovely and great! I love it
But that's the problem, we are not bound in peace nor unity the first national anthem actually points out our problems, the second one glosses over it.@@magnetmac1
Nowahala since our leaders insist we should embrace this old national anthem they should also make us to embrace the same old price of fuel food stuff and other essential commodities

Written by colonial masters, that national anthem was written by a British lady who happened to be a British expatriate in Royal Niger Company! Imported Anthem!?, the generation of that lady will soon take Nigeria to court for royalty! Shameful attitude of the APC government!
@@beluyemurphy4090 Then drop English language which is the colonial language now. Then let's stop riding cars, and do away with anything foreign now. Nigeria is a name given by a colonial woman. Lagos is a name given by colonial people. Let's stop going to school because every subject is invented by colonial people. My people should get sense.
Great Anthem, meaningful words, powerful prayers for our dear country. If I am to update the Anthem, I'll change where it says Nigeria 'may' be blessed to Nigeria 'WILL' be blessed. I wish that the beat can be changed to be a bit slow though. God bless Nigeria.
Going back to this anthem is a step forward to better things to return. Things were good before the anthem was changed to the meaningless words that have seen the country through its greatest regression. I hail thee my country, Nigeria. I love thee, my motherland, fatherland, siblingland, peacefulland. I continue to pray that the peace that country had during Gowan will return. I pray that coming home to visit will no longer be done in panic, when you don't know if you'll even make it back out safely, without being mugged and robbed. I look forward to the time when employers will look for graduates to offer them jobs, not graduates begging employers to offer them anything available, even the janitor position. What a shame. A country so rich and blessed, and yet, 80% of the nation lives in penury and no sign of blessedness. I pray that we'll be blessed again with peace and prosperity we had before the rich land was handed over to Shehu Shagari. May the good LORD TAKE US BACK to those days and years when money was not the problem, but how to spend it. Thrive, my country, thrive because, after all said and done, to me, there's no place like thee, home sweet home. Love thee my country.
We are going back to go forward, going back in the sense that we went to our former anthem and going forward in the sense that the anthem is now 3 stanzas
this new anthem is much better, makes better sence and brings more light ...I think it was a difficult decision, but i praise the president for taking it, bcos Nigeria must break shackles.

The new Nigerian national anthem, "Nigeria We Hail Thee," beautifully captures the essence of unity and patriotism. It emphasizes the strength found in Nigeria's diversity, stating that "though tribes and tongue may differ, in brotherhood we stand." This line highlights the importance of unity despite our differences, a vital message for our nation. The anthem's focus on truth, justice, and peace, symbolized by the flag, resonates deeply. It calls for a legacy of honor and integrity to be passed down to future generations, a "banner without stain." This aspirational message encourages all Nigerians to strive for a nation that upholds these values. Moreover, the prayer to God for help in building a nation free of oppression and blessed with peace and plenty reflects our collective hopes and dreams. It serves as a reminder of the importance of faith and collective effort in nation-building. Overall, this new anthem is a profound and inspiring call to unity, justice, and progress. It encapsulates the spirit of Nigeria and the aspirations of its people for a brighter, more harmonious future.

Too short and lack patriotic depth and insight.
As we are singing this, pls let our leaders go back to the cost of things in the 90's.
I heard they are planning to return to the Parliamentary system...I hope that comes to fruition
LOL! By 90s things never spoil finish? 🤣🤣🤣
I pray God touch their hearts 🙏

In my opinion, Arise, O patriotic sound more patriotic than Nigeria We Hail Thee.
The change wouldn't solve the problems in Nigeria.
