The conversation with Chris Selim was really really good! I loved that it was about audio and faith. SOOOOOOOO Good. The story about you reading the bible to your kid and realizing she was seeing something that you did not. Jesus said a child shall lead them and to come to him you must come like a child. Really solid conversation. Thanks for that.
NH represent! Same here. Very interesting too that you started going to church Justin. I really respect your openness. Jesus said seek and you shall find. I’ve been a Christian for almost 30 years and recently made a big shift to the Orthodox Church (most closely tied to the ancient church). Side note: most of my experience till this point was void of any Christian art, but discovering the importance of iconography in worship and telling the stories of the faith has been a huge stretch but also very rewarding so far. There’s a lot of differences between the modern evangelical or even traditional Presbyterian or baptist and even Roman Catholic vs. Orthodoxy. So all that to say, not sure what kind of church you’re attending, but just keep in mind that if there’s something or someone about your experience that is confusing or insulting or whatever, just realize that what you experience in that church may not be reflective of the Jesus and the true Christian faith. Praying for you and your family. And thanks for all your great content.
Me too. I like all kinds of forms, visual, sonic, ... I recognized some universal principals all art forms have in common. Creativity is also an interesting state of mind.
I enjoyed your tangent discussion of faith. It was quite unexpected, but the respect the two of you showed for each other, even with different perspectives, kept the session interesting. Thank you both, for being transparent and honest about your views on faith and audio.
Started my 1st band at age 12... drugs, many overdoses, rebellion and dead for 5 min at 17 and many years of addiction.... I know without my faith and passion to create music I would be dead......God told me I wont give you the songs until you clean up and let me help... I would've never believed I could've built the studio I just completed with my own two hands... If art/music or anything is created with the guided hand of our creator within us it then has life and breaths... Christ said " follow me" ...
1:41:42 I’m building a new studio and I didn’t realize that the safe n sound can be used for bass traps. I was bummed that I bought too much but now I’m glad I have some leftover. Any tips or tutorials on how to build them?
After 23 years of some level of record , editing, mixing. Some pro tools experience , some Cubase experience ( a long time ago ) FL experience , some reaper experience. Studio One pro won me over after version 3.
I love this talk and these guys! But I think people need to be honest about how LITTLE money IN TOTAL is available to be made in the entire music industry as it exists now. PAID work that could earn a professional even a lower class income is almost non-existent anymore.
1:23:51 couldn’t help but offer a correction, everyone will be resurrected according true Christianity. The question is what kind of resurrection each person will experience, which has to do with the last judgement.
If you side chain a limiter on the preachy, condescending track, it won't muddy up the whole mix. If you happen to have a high pass filter on your sense of humor, and meters are all peaking in the red, turn up the forgiveness on your stereo mix buss.
@SonicScoop How is an Italian not more seeped in Christianity? Oh, well, your testimony is like a sermon. Your "freshness" is refreshing, honestly. Perhaps consider yourself fortunate, the RCC millieu had been taken over by modernist (secular humanists) from the sixties forward, and now there is a pendulum swing back toward the embrace of the tradition - but not everywhere, but let's hope so in your case, You don't strike me as someone who'd be interested in "Catholic lite." . Sounds like you're catching that wave and with the same openness and sense of wonder as your dear daughter. God bless you both. BTW, my sister's recent walk is similar to your own. Side note: "French" Canada has some of the the most beautiful Cathedrals.
I can’t even begin thinking about that until this one is over. But Jason is on our list right at the top! :-) Just getting all the sponsors and mixers to commit so we can make a thing happen is a huge undertaking that takes many months. Getting a whole ton of creative people to do some thing all at the same time is a little bit like herding cats 😃 -Justin

I really enjoyed the spiritual discussion. Justin, you are a great Dad for supporting your daughter going to church.

Glad you think so, we had a good time! Thanks for watching 😊
Speaking of faith and the resurrection. One thing that hit me to believe is watching videos of the late archeologist Ron Wyatt.

The highest level of learning is teaching.
-Guru Dan Inosanto-
Lot of truth there.
-Justin
I'd have thought it was the other way round?

You might be happy to know that a year later, I’m still attending Mass every week :-)
And still learning and discovering.
-Justin
hey justin is there any progress from engineer jason? Is it still possible for this 2023?
Sorry Carlos, not looking like it’s in the cards for this year, but we have him at the top of the list for next year!
-Justin
If for next year it is confirmed? What will be in the mix con ?
I can’t even begin thinking about that until this one is over. But Jason is on our list right at the top! :-)
