I just love generally in the original universe how they work together. Kakashi is surely very attached to his teammates as he doesn't want to lose them the way he lost his team. Sakura reminds him of Rin and he often makes sure she is safe, not because she is not capable of handling herself, but because like Rin she would put herself in dangerous situations n order to rescue her teammates or prevent them from hurting each other. Like the fight between Naruto and Sasuke on the hospital rooftop where the only thing she could do back then was come in between them, or when decided she'd be the one to kill Sasuke, or getting in front of Naruto when he was absorbed by Kyubi's hatred. She cares too much for her teammates to give a damn about her own well-being and Kakashi is trying to stop her from hurting herself be it deliberately like Rin did, or just on impulse to save her friends.
You know what adds more to that sadness is sakura that way because of the abuse and neglect from her parents. She didn't have their support or self sacrifice
