  • This was after 2 days of rain came through the north Georgia area from one of the many Hurricanes passing through the area this year (2020). The bass seemed to have pulled back out of shallow water feeding during this time.

Good video. Man I wish I could just hire someone to go out on my pontoon with me and show me what it is that I’m doing wrong. I’m 5 minutes from wilderness camp marina. I’ve got every kind of lure you can imagine, but just can’t seem to catch anything. The Dead Sea, indeed! 😩

      Thanks for checking it out!
Allatoona gets me almost every time I go. A drop shot and the shaky head are staples. If I were to only throw them I bet I would catch more fish, I just want something different. Lol.

@@SammyBenitez Thanks for the reply! Can you do a video for beginner fishers, like myself, on how you set up the drop shot and the shaky head, as well as technique? I'm certain that I'm not the only one who would appreciate that style of video.

Good suggestion, hopefully you’ll see that soon.

Cool video! What is a good 5 fish weight for tournaments on that lake?

Allatoona can change a lot. I’ve seen some tournaments bring 15-17lb bags which seems absurd. Usually a 10lb-12lb sack is competitive and could win it. The spotted bass don’t seem to get as big and the largemouth are only about 7-10% the bass population here.

The fishing should get a lot better after the lake turns over.

I’ve heard this term plenty lately, not totally sure what to look for as the water “turns over” to tell when it’s done. Make a video? Haha

@@SammyBenitez The turnover is kind of a mysterious thing. It's a bit different every year, but I can usually see a difference in water color and the water will smell funky for a bit while the warm upper layer cools and sinks, mixing with the lower layer of cool water. I don't claim to be an expert, but I know the fishing always gets better after the turnover has occurred.
