It almost feels like I’m back where I always liked to be. In my room, and spending time with the ps2. That thing watched me grow up. I’m so thankful for it.
I could never be more thankful for the genius who decided to use ambient sounds of waves crashing for a console startup. I would just leave on my ps2 for hours just to hear this.
Okay so when i was younger like 3-5 i remember always hearing this bc my old cousins would play it and id chill and ig it spooked me or something because when i have bad trips i hear the ps2 start up or shit similar to that in my head idk why but it trips me out but i like it now
Nestor Natividad - I wish more like getting the screwdriver, alcohol, and Q-tips clean thinking that will fix it then out of desperation go back some cd cleaner disk by this point you have already punched holes in the wall then you look for a job
I had two PS2's. A regular that could only play PS1 games, and a PS2 slim that could only play PS2 games. Not sure why. The one PS2 used to be normal and play both, but at some point lost the ability to read DVDs. And the PS2 slim was the opposite, could play DVDs but not CDs.
Late nights, up with my friend from across the street, eating pizza, slugging down Dr. Peppers, and talking about the fight that happened in class today, playing FFX, KH1 & 2, Silent Hill 2, Persona 3 and 4, Ratchet and Clank, Lego Star Wars, Sly Cooper, the early COD games, Battlefront 1 and 2, GTA San Andreas, Driver, etc. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Every time I hear that noise there is a nostalgic feeling that can not be replaced by anything in this world. The feeling of a late Saturday night in your room, everyone in the house is doing their own thing. You find yourself with a two liter and a red solo cup in your room with Resident Evil 4 in the disc tray of your PS2, and you have all night to finally make it past the village.
Here's something a little eerie: Imagine this. You are someone in their older ages, a gamer for many years, who has lived to a ripe old age. Your time has to come eventually. It does, and you pass away on your deathbed, with your family sadly watching you go. As the light of life slips away, you hear a faint sound. Heaven? Maybe a heavenly beach. It becomes louder, and you still see nothing of heaven. Eventually, the volume becomes constant. You listen to this, contemplating life. You think of all you have done, good and bad, all of your life's accomplishments, all of your mistakes. You wonder what becomes of you next. Eventually, as the gamer you are, you come to a realization: the constant noise you hear, one that you likely heard as a child, a noise that you haven't heard in a long time, is of the ambience of a Playstation 2. The nostalgia comes over you, as you remember all the time you've spent on this system, all the time you've played your favorite games. This is what you listen to during your stay in this void for all eternity, when you receive a game over in real life.
I know no one cares but when I heard this menu sound so many memories came back to me... so here it goes... When I was young, I went to my cousin's home during Christmas every year. My cousin's family was quite rich, and his bedroom was very dimly lit and cosy. I would play on his PS2 in his bedroom until midnight, then I would fall asleep on his soft bed with the PS2 menu ambience playing in the background. To me, going to his home and gaming on his PS2 is like physically and mentally travelling to another world. I was so surprised when he decided to gift his PS2 and his game collection to me when he moved out. I've never owned a console at this point because I've always been a PC gamer, and I didn't (still don't) care for consoles. If I wanted to play PS2 games, I could run PCSX2 and turn the graphics up to max settings on my custom built PC, so owning a PS2 should have made no difference to me. But then... connecting the PS2 to the TV, putting a physical disc in the console, sitting back on the sofa, watching the game launch while holding the real PS2 controller made me excited like a little kid again. Apparently, the superior experience of PC gaming couldn't replace the emotional experience of console gaming. I still prefer playing PS2 games on my PC because of the superior graphics, but sometimes I boot up the PS2 just for nostalgia's sake.
I still play my ps2 to this very day. Have all my old ps2 games, and some of my ps1 games. I wanna keep this for my kids and show them how we gamed back in the early 2000s.
@@astro8214 get one now i only think they will continue to get more expensive in the future. they are the most manufactured console in the world so there is still a big supply out there, but retro resellers have all managed to keep the price (online stores at least) at like 80-100 usd and a lot of local pawn shops and second hand stores are realizing that their ps2s are worth more but if you get lucky go around your pawn shops and see if you can snag one for cheaper.

I find it calming as well, but it did creep me out as a small kid. Something about it unsettled me at the time. I think it had something to do with the visuals as well, since it seemed so dark and eerie

The sounds of high school. Getting off the bus and rushing over to your neighbors houses. Spending the night at your best friends house. Staying up late alone on the weekends. Or just escaping everyday reality to one more joyful. The PS2 was such a great system and glad I got to go through my teenage years playing it. So many great games, and so many great memories. Nostalgia is almost haunting in its own way. Would love to relive those days with my friends.

Man... reminds me when I had my last week of summer vacation, I started the ps2 on my clunky tv, which was on the ground in the corner. I forgot to put in Kindgom Hearts 2, a game I would always play once a year at this time, due to it starting at the end of summer vacation as well. While I search the disc in my big but thin shelf, full with other classics me and my brother would have gathered, like GTA san andreas, need for speed or Tekken 5 this menu ambience would play. The sun went down and the last bit of sun would shine through the window.
This brings back memories of going to my Dad’s house and playing Medal of Honor with him and my brother. I’ll never forget hearing the start up and the anticipation for everything to load. Some of the fondest memories I have from when I was younger. We would spend the whole day doing the same mission and we would make fun of what the German soldiers would say. I hope everyone has fond memories like this with their parents or family or friends. Thanks for uploading this so I can relive simple times.
I miss my PS2. Playing Test Drive, Shrek 2, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, Tak And The Power Of JUJU, and Crash Bandicoot 4 all night. Until one day it crashed. Nothing, And I mean nothing, loaded up. It grew me up, and I'm thankful. No one would fix it, so in memorial, I made it into a charging port. RIP my PS2 Fat model 2008-2016

I remember as a kid I had this ps2 that would hardly ever read discs. One of the ways to make it read is to come to this screen and keep ejecting the disc and putting it back in. Sometimes I'd fall asleep to this sound before I could see the menu dissappear to load into the game. FFX, KH1 & 2, and ratchet and clank were my go tos.
This is how it feels to be connected on the internet, being online, your digital counterpart, your meeting point being a thin shore of consciousness, as you lose yourself to the digital world and become one
Ps2 and OG Xbox were my childhood, They helped get through rough real life problems and the only reason I still have them and play them both to this day is because I can't help it but appreciate these two. Day and night playing so many great games Gran Turismo 4 Halo CE Halo 2 TES: Morrowind Spawn Armageddon Forza Motorsport GTA Trilogy Tekken 4 & 5 FlatOut 1 & 2 Test Drive Overdrive Test Drive Eve of Destruction Grabbed by the Goulies Burnout 3 Cars Midnight Club II & 3 Resident Evil 4 NFS Underground 1 & 2 NFS Most Wanted 2005 WWE HCTP Silent Hill 2 Tokyo Xtreme Racer DRIFT 2 Enthusia There are much much more that I can't really recall but still appreciate I'll admit I played the Xbox more than the PS2, I bought most of these games for it and I preferred it over the PS2 and also missed out on great games like GOW, Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank and few more great titles, but I still have to appreciate the PS2 as much as the Xbox because they both did a wonderful job at making me love them both and they're still my childhood to me
Holy fuck, you made me have a nostalgia trip as soon as I read Gran Turismo and Cars. I used to play those games a lot when I was little. Good times...
Jacob Richardson I played both games but I played Revenge on the Xbox 360 so that's why I didn't mention it although the both Xbox 360 and its games give a beautiful nostalgic feeling especially Halo 3 but we're talking about the 6th gen so there's no need to mention it
Ah this rings back memories when I was like 2 and me and my brothers were taking turns playing.. I can’t remember what it’s called but a deer hunting game. It was so much fun!
thing You're in a city. You are in your room in a home a few stories high. Your room has a window to your left. It's raining outside at night. Your room's lights are off, and you're laying down on your couch on the right part of the room next to the TV in front of you. The TV is big, the volume on it is low and a PS2 is hooked up to it. You power on the PS2.
I’ve had the privilege to own every Sony console, but none give me as much nostalgia as the PS2. Countless hours trying to 100% the first 3 Ratchet and Clank games and LEGO Racers 2
I remember the startup noise scaring the shit out of me when I was younger, but then felt calmer hearing the ocean waves while I was waiting for my game to start up.
The starting sound of the ps2 gave me nightmares as a kid. Nightmares that it was dark in my room at night and I start the ps2, but the volume was on full blast and all I see are those swishing lights, then I'm stunned. Yeah, it's true.

Some of the fondest memories I have from when I was younger. We would spend the whole day doing the same mission and we would make fun of what the German soldiers would say. I hope everyone has fond memories like this with their parents or family or friends. Thanks for uploading this so I can relive simple times.
John Doe same bro
This is VERY relaxing.
RIP my PS2 Fat model
2008-2016
Tony hawks pro skater man why u gotta kill me with nostalgia :(
I used to play that game when i was like 5 maybe 6 i got a ps4 now i just wish i could go back to the old days
R.I.P Fatman model. Im here bud, i am here. I loved playing Kingom Hearts, and then it just straight up died. I bawled my eyes out because i wanted to hear Dearly Beloved one more time. Just to say goodbye. Just to hug it. I wanted to say goodbye and hug a PLAYSTATION. Its so lovely... thank god there is a 10 hour loop of the song...
I'm thankful that my ps2 fat model still works and I play it till this day.
I hope for it to live on forever
Look at this thing! Swinging around LED beads, trying to look all cool...
You _would_ be cool *if you read my fucking game disc.*
This start up makes me wanna play tony hawks underground 2 again :,(
Me.too.😥
I just bought Tony Hawk 1 and remastered on PS4. I know it's not the same, but it's something ☺
Who missing the times?
man first game on ps1 is (ctr crash team racing & pepsi man & driver & vigilante 8 & twisted tetal & hercules & die hard trilogy 2 & road rash & beyblade let it rip & crush gear turbo & rampage world tour & tomba & bakusou kyoudai let's & go & looney tunes sheep raider & buzz lightyear)
Me too 😄
You can still get a ps2 easilly and enjoy it :v
jack 2 and 3 were one of the best
I remember as a kid I had this ps2 that would hardly ever read discs. One of the ways to make it read is to come to this screen and keep ejecting the disc and putting it back in. Sometimes I'd fall asleep to this sound before I could see the menu dissappear to load into the game. FFX, KH1 & 2, and ratchet and clank were my go tos.
same
Hated when this popped up because the disk was messed up or something. I feel very sad now and miss how this is only part of a memory. :(
Reminds me of constantly battling to get my discs worknng
ShipDeckSurvivor my 15 year old ps2 was like new after a quick disassembly and laser cleaning. Try that out and see if your discs read better.
or try hacking your ps2 as you can legally play backups of discs you own through OPL wont go into any more detail than that
When you know if your disk is dirty or too scratched lol
this is how you know
This is how it feels to be connected on the internet, being online, your digital counterpart, your meeting point being a thin shore of consciousness, as you lose yourself to the digital world and become one
*Imagine hearing the startup sound while camping and it’s drizzling outside while your sleeping in a tent...*

Heaven
Sounds like the waves of the beach, but it looks a little too dark...
0:05 i love that sound
Same 💖💖
Same... That sound brings me back to childhood..

Ps2 and OG Xbox were my childhood, They helped get through rough real life problems and the only reason I still have them and play them both to this day is because I can't help it but appreciate these two.
Day and night playing so many great games
Gran Turismo 4
Halo CE
Halo 2
TES: Morrowind
Spawn Armageddon
Forza Motorsport
GTA Trilogy
Tekken 4 & 5
FlatOut 1 & 2
Test Drive Overdrive
Test Drive Eve of Destruction
Grabbed by the Goulies
Burnout 3
Cars
Midnight Club II & 3
Resident Evil 4
NFS Underground 1 & 2
NFS Most Wanted 2005
WWE HCTP
Silent Hill 2
Tokyo Xtreme Racer DRIFT 2
Enthusia
There are much much more that I can't really recall but still appreciate
I'll admit I played the Xbox more than the PS2, I bought most of these games for it and I preferred it over the PS2 and also missed out on great games like GOW, Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank and few more great titles, but I still have to appreciate the PS2 as much as the Xbox because they both did a wonderful job at making me love them both and they're still my childhood to me
DcyphR of course, as well as metal gear that was a great series
Holy fuck, you made me have a nostalgia trip as soon as I read Gran Turismo and Cars. I used to play those games a lot when I was little. Good times...
Don't forget Burnout 3 and Revenge.
Jacob Richardson I played both games but I played Revenge on the Xbox 360 so that's why I didn't mention it although the both Xbox 360 and its games give a beautiful nostalgic feeling especially Halo 3 but we're talking about the 6th gen so there's no need to mention it
Ah, the memories. I still have ps2 (hell, I still use it), but hearing this reminds me simpler times.
Its like the sound of crashing waves on the seashore. All it needs is seagulls. Very soothing and relaxing.
You just know the game won’t work when it’s more than 5 seconds after the ding
BUSHM4N 😂😂Real one😂😂
Yea
Back when gaming meant something
The game of the PS2 were amazing... the hype for MGS2 was unreal... it looked so good
Bro.... it still does! maybe not to you.
I remember turning the ps2 on and then quickly running to my parents before the scary sound consumed me....
Notaxmar Jr. or hoping that it read the disc
I’m glad I’m not the only one that did that lol
Why so many people got scared by this xD
It's calm and relaxing....other wordly a bit but not eerie xd
Ahh, so good. Glad that I still have a PS2 in a perfect condition, and I can listen to this any time.
That's good bro. :)
SoulCalibur, Naruto Ultimate Ninja, Kingodm Hearts, these games made the PS2 for me. And I’m still finding games to play on it today!
This was in my recommended section, Really glad I clicked on it 😁
Ah this rings back memories when I was like 2 and me and my brothers were taking turns playing.. I can’t remember what it’s called but a deer hunting game. It was so much fun!
Sade Fade I checked your channel. I see you play FNAF. Good game.
Cabela's Big game hunter or Cabelas Deer Hunt will be what it was
Damnit, I was just at an isolated cabin with a PS2 and now I regret not turning it on at max volume
thing
You're in a city.
I would like to personally thank whoever made this.
It sounds like nice ocean waves with some heavy wind
This is so relaxing to listen to especially because we owned a PS2 when i was a kid.
I’ve had the privilege to own every Sony console, but none give me as much nostalgia as the PS2. Countless hours trying to 100% the first 3 Ratchet and Clank games and LEGO Racers 2
Man, i played countless hours of ps2 but i dont remember the ambience sounding like this at all, lmao. I dont even remember there being ambience.
you probably never sat on the menu for very long then if you put a disc in straight away it wont boot the menu just take u straight to the game
I remember staring at those floating circle things in disappointment because my game wouldn’t start up after the millionth time
I still get chills
I remember the startup noise scaring the shit out of me when I was younger, but then felt calmer hearing the ocean waves while I was waiting for my game to start up.
This is... Oddly soothing...
I know. I used it for sleep once and i always keep using it.
This brings back so many memos
I have a PS2 theme for my PS4, so this is what i hear when i turn it on.
You mean ps4?
Howd u do that
@@panama1942 You can find "Legacy Dynamic Theme" on the PS store.
I just sank into a lake of memories.
Thank you man!
jeremiah de aragon yea same and im 13 years old shit hit me hard about the ps2
DeadJoker 77211 i miss the feeling of just listening to this at 2 or 3am while i played alone in my room -- 12 years ago ;-)
My biggest fear when I got this message was that the Disc got scratched up too much that I couldn't play it lol
The starting sound of the ps2 gave me nightmares as a kid. Nightmares that it was dark in my room at night and I start the ps2, but the volume was on full blast and all I see are those swishing lights, then I'm stunned.
Yeah, it's true.
RSOD was scarier tho.
@@iloveobbiesxd I've never got the RSOD As a kid, but because of past experience, I think that the regular startup is scarier
Bloodstone [Bloodstone_Music] something still feels really off putting to me as an adult lmao
Scary asf
The original xbox will literally fcking whisper at you when idled too long in the main menu.
I can and will fall asleep to this
This is beautiful 😭😭😭😭 I miss ps2
I swear to christ if you speed it up to x2 it sounds like the ocean.
Youre right lol
a purple dragon yep
Holy [CRUD] I never noticed that [STUFF] Before!
Dude it is the ocean
When your PS2 forgets how to PS2 so it becomes the ocean
I didn't know how much I needed this.
Used to sit on my basement carpet floor with my dad as a kid and played FIFA with him for hours, amazing memories that instantly bring happiness.
This is actually soothing for falling asleep
My PS2 turned 14 this December..
Whatever it's made of, it still works like a charm..
This is so relaxing for reasons i dont know why
It's the white noise of the wave-like sounds
Once I smoke my blunt I just put this on sleep and listen to my childhood memories.
